Wait wait wait
So maybe I'm overthinking this but the phrase ready, set, go lends itself pretty well to starting a rowing race specifically. I mean look at this: (Sit) ready (Find the) set Go (which rhymes with row but that's actually just a coincidence...)

Rowing is bad for knees. Nope. Being fat is bad for your knees.
(via therowinglife)
Rowing is actually not bad for your knees. When the stroke is performed properly it's a low impact sport and is better than running.
When you're slamming your knees down because you're compensating for a lack of pressure: that's when knee trouble starts.
You know what else hurts your knees: overtraining and using an area already weakened by chronic injuries.
One of the biggest myths of this sport is that rowers pull hard in spite of the pain…but the truth is, they revel in it, because it’s the pain that tells them what they are achieving.

When other boats start cutting into my lane.
Rowing is not well understood by the masses. Never will be. I like that about rowing. It’s remarkably un-glamorous. No money to be made. No grand slam. No slam dunk. From the outside it looks easy. Inside the boat all hell is always breaking loose.
