Felian Lightfire, Human Paladin of the Alliance
by MatesLaurentiu
Fragment 14 - Inner Demon Returns
You think its gone, then it comes back. Found a quiet little spot in Dalaran* for a drink after my shift. Damn my ankles were red raw. I need new boots, these ones are rusted and dented and have totally shredded me today. Enjoying an ale and a chat with an elf I've recently got acquainted with was both enjoyable and difficult. I find the elves to be decent creatures, and this woman is a fine example of a good fighter. But she has a subtle glint in her eye that I do not trust. She challenged me to an arm wrestle. She cheated. I try to save that behaviour for the Horde*. I'm not a proud person, nor am I surprised by much. But I know what I trust and what I don't.
Then, Felian Lightfire. Of all the people. Felian bloody Lightfire.
"No no I hardly knew your wife mate."
Damn, I hate the sound of my own lies.
"No no I don't know why she disappeared from my guild."
How can I even comment that other people are untrustworthy?
"No no I wouldn't try to tempt your wife away from you or try to kiss her, or anything unnatural like that."
Adal, I'm a proud Draenei warrior with a dirty little soul. Shit.
Dalaran
Fragment 13 - Grave
A lot has happened, and I haven't been bothered to write. I don't remember it all and I can't be arsed to recount it. Travelling around this fermented rock, selling animals like a trader, when I know nothing about selling. Markets, bazaars, stables, useless trekking. Drinking the little I've made, trying to work on repairing my battle armour and parade armour and all those other tasks which used to have meaning, but now are just expensive waste.
I came back to Stormwind to visit Adella's grave. I haven't been to see her ever before. I promised myself I wouldn't. It's a modest stone paid for by father, but never even seen by him, in a grassy clearing in a Forest called Elwynn. Whatever happens in the future, this stone means we'll never forget this planet, we'll never really leave it. I sat and stared at the ground, imagining the two hooves and the collection of jelly-like chunks of flesh that I know are slowly decomposing in there. Maybe its not even her, maybe she's still out there. That's Khryssa talking though, she says words like that and I tell her to shut up and get a grip. I shouted at her on the day they erected the stone, what a ridiculous day that was. I don't feel connected to that heap of gore in there, what does burying it even mean? Why am I writing about this?
The rest of the piece of parchment contains notes for a letter in Common language. Some phrases are written repeatedly, some crossed out, some spelt wrong and then corrected*

Fragment 12 - Found
Spent the early morning nursing a moonberry* juice - yes, there was nothing else available. Rummaged through my pack to see if there was any of the silverleaf left. Just a few leaves left in the wrapper.
The wrapper. A crumpled flyer printed in dark ink. Big letters, "The White Hunt".

Fragment 11 - Poor
One Talbuk sold. At last a little gold in my pocket. I say a little, he went for a lot more than I was expecting. On the back of this positive feeling I went to the little tavern on the docks. They had no whiskey. No ale either.
Caught a small group of people smoking some silverleaf* on the beach under the pier and persuaded them to sell me some. Spent the day comatose on the beach. This is a new low.
Fragment 10 - Flyer
This piece of parchment is a flyer of sorts – a small advertisement produced by The White Hunt.
Each day we wait, the horde gathers strength. Are you prepared?
If you haven't supported us, it is very unlikely you are. Do not be amongst the burned, limbless corpses buried beneath smoldering wood when the war begins. It is coming. And the Alliance leaders would have you wait until it is too late to stop it.
But there is hope!
The White Hunt is here. It fights for you, lives so that you will not die. Many already support us, and they do so for the children. Can you dare think to live in a world where the savages still threaten your loved ones? Ensure that won't happen. For the Alliance, for the Light's justice, join us! We are waiting, but we cannot wait forever. The horde surely won't.
Commander Grey, The White Hunt
Fragment 9 - Auberdine and Ashenvale
Back on the boat, now with the 5 Talbuk in tow. I've chosen to head for Azuremyst Isle as I suppose the most fertile market for them will be among my own people. Lets face it, when a dwarf or a gnome gets up on one of these they look like a cherry on top of a giant cake. I'll pass by the markets of Auberdine and Ashenvale also. I quite like the elves, I've now decided. I used to think they were a bit namby pamby, but a few months back I heard this old elf talking about some wars they had in their past. I think they have more backbone that I previously gave them credit for. They did serve me some god-awful food though - it was like, vegetables. I mean, fair enough, dress a nice side of Boar with a few leaves, or even a root or two, but... just vegetables? I've purchased a few bags of jerky just in case.
*a few sentences have been started and scribbled out again with angry, scratchy lines which indent the paper*
I couldn't find the boys from the regiment to thank them for their service.
Fragment 8 - High Commander
Gerosan was sloshed. I had to remind him a few times who I was. After a few lashes of the tail he got the idea. Human paladins are hilarious when drunk. Blaming other people, claiming to be sober, saying it was the High Commander's orders, saying it would be what The Light wanted. Damn, just have a good time and stop trying to justify sipping some fermented vegetables. He pointed me in the direction of High Commander Lenea. His description of her location contained far too many left turns and one too many 'over the bridge near the puking dwarf', but I found her in the end. Her hair was a mess as always, but her fine regalia had at least been recently washed and pressed, so she stood out from the rest of the crowd. I saluted and asked for permission to speak in a rather solemn manner, but she gave me a smile and a pat on the shoulder. Sweet, disorganised Lenea. Despite her lack of time for me, I can't dislike a woman with such a good heart. We chatted, she asked about my knee and how I was spending my leave. She seemed surprised to learn that her chief of staff had sent for me to collect the Talbuks, but I knew she was trying to save my feelings. I pretended I was glad. Then the worst part of all. She confirmed my thoughts, the Divine Shadows were officially standing down from active service. King Wrynn* was only keeping certain sections of his armies in Northrend.... I tuned out at this point. A painted smile covered my face as she joked about getting back to normal life. I went back to the tavern to see if Gero would lend me some gold for a drink or two. I awoke this morning half in and half out of a barrel in the tavern kitchen. The barmaid kindly let me have a wash in her dorm basin. She gave me an odd wink as I left, that made one of my tentacles shiver.

Fragment 7 - Valiance
Valiance today was a bit of a shock to the system. Absolute chaos. The first time I ever saw this city it was the very picture of stern organisation. Now the streets are awash with merry faces, everything from pack horses to siege machines are piling up around the docks waiting for transportation. Jubilation. The taverns are over flowing with thirsty soldiers eager to celebrate for as long as possible. I made my way into one such tavern in search of a familiar face. A barmaid was standing on the bar singing a rendition of The Alliance Never Walk Alone with her skirts pulled up to her knees. The mob were throwing copper coins at her as if they feared she may stop at any moment and a tiny gnome was scurrying around trying to pick them all up. A coin hit the poor girl in the face and there was an awful moment where it looked like she was going to fall off the bar. But she quickly recovered herself and went on singing. I edged my way up to the bar and placed a coin near her feet and gave her a respectful nod. She shimmied her skirts and I caught a flash of her stocking tops. She winked at me, but I just stood there for a moment, then turned to leave. My composure these days is truly admirable, maybe the Naaru have really answered my call for aid in this delicate matter.
I made my way up the stairs and onto the bar landing where I caught sight of a face I recognised.

Fragment 6 - The White Hunt
Overheard some guy talking about The White Hunt. Sounded like some sort of society for aging rangers. Noone got the joke. A couple of men even gave me a flash of their steel, like they were warning me... I mean, whatever. These so called 'seadogs' can't take a harmless jibe. They wouldn't last 5 minutes in the army. Last night I was just dozing off when a group of them came and cornered me and started telling me some stuff about how they didn't really like 'my kind' and how I had 'no respect for the heroes of the Alliance'. Firstly I stopped caring what every Brann, Dick and Hogger think of 'my kind' a long time ago and second I know better than to start a fight on a civillian ship. So I asked them if they wanted to tell me about this White Hunt business then, I mean if they were Alliance heroes then it might be a good story. They didn't. The little one called me squid and tried to pull my tentacles. Think I broke a few of his fingers getting his hand off, thats a really sensitive area. Things weren't looking good. No matter what people say about this planet, you can't just kill a bunch of sailors, claim it was self defense and get away with it. Not with my High Commander anyway. They threw some punches around but I wasn't really worried about anything other than keeping hold of my composure. They spat a lot of warnings and insults and eventually left me alone.
The damn bed in this birth is too small. A well placed hoof to the chin is enough to snap an unprotected human neck.
Now there's a hole in the door. I'll have to pay for that.
Ocean View.
Fragment 5 - Travel
Travelling is really boring. Good job I'm getting into this scribbling thing, its nice to spend some time doing something other than filling my hooves or seeing how many press ups I can do with three human sailors on my back... I decided to go and pick up the Talbuks myself. I might be able to auction a few off at Valliance, or even speak to the High Commander herself and find out what the hell my status is.
... it was 152 press ups.
