Just posting my 3rd Rook, Octavia Ingellvar, yes I'm romancing Emmrich *again* but with a mourn watcher (I'm also splitting this play through into a couple of other romances to see what they're like)

But I really love the characater creator in Veilguard, every Rook I've made has been like Oo yeah I like your face, and you look good in cut scenes! xD even my 'bad run' dwarf, Cory, I was like damn you look good!

Need to do some fan art of my Rooks so far ☺️

Jump scare post!

Hopping back on here after 4 years to post (is anyone still out there?) a sketch of my Rook, Nylah, and her necromancer husband Emmrich inspired by Gomez and Morticia of couuurse

Been playing the heck out of Veilguard and loving every minute of it, I'm on my 3rd play through, the great thing about being 38 now is that I can just enjoy things and not really care what anyone else thinks about them cause they being me joy

Veilguard has also given me some much needed 'brain rest' and I've been in completely creative and physical burnout for the last 2 years, I finally feel like the fog is lifting because I can get so immersed in something again and give my mind a break from all the irl crap

So this is also my first sketch in like 2 years!

2nd Rook (not pictured) was my 'bad' run where I ignored everyone and just speed ran the main quest, literally lost everyone including Rook! I don't recommend it 😅 very upsetting

I wanted to paint some more octopus ladies/mermaids, I only recently discovered the blanket octopus was a thing! This is still very much a work in progress! It feels good to be inspired again :)

First time I’ve painted properly in over a year, phew

thought I’d start with a self portrait representing 2020 (but also because it’s spooky season, but it goes well with the whole vibe of 2020 let’s be honest)

Hello!

Well it’s been a difficult year for me, (I mean, it’s been a difficult year for *everyone* )  There’s been a lot going on (long story short, got counselling, had covid scare (my test came back negative!) had a birthday in total isolation, left my job and now I’m trying to make a living making things at home full time, we’ll see how that goes!) 

If you want to see what I’ve been making and working on I have a new woodwork-y instagram HERE (progress of my current ukulele which is *almost finished* and designing my next pair of ukes, as well as inlay designs and work I’ve been doing) I feel much better mentally right now and much more creative and inspired, which I haven’t felt in at least 2 years, so I’m excited to be drawing again if I can get my tablet to behave, but might also delve back into some traditional art, I’ve enjoyed making things with my hands and painting little bits of things with a real paintbrush, so who knows!

Here’s something I’ve been working on (on stream too if you caught it the other day, I had to cut it short as I had pen pressure issues :( but hopefully I can fix that and stream some more of this soon!)

it’s a redraw on an old 2014 painting, something not too challenging to get me back into the swing of painting, it’s been a while!  In other news I’m still out of work for at least 2 weeks yet, or when the gov decide salons can reopen :/ it’s been 4 1/2 weeks now and I’m stuck in my little flat by myself going crazy. Everyone I know is stuck inside with family or a partner and honestly I’ve never felt more isolated (no pun intended) Oh but I did finish my first ever Dark Souls game! Something I never thought I’d do but I actually finished DS3 the other day :D and I finished making a pair of shoes for myself that I started over a year ago (but then got side tracked by a night shift job and then a change of career) so it was really good to get back into some shoe making and it feels SO good to get back into some painting honestly, I’ve missed it so much

Soooo, our salon is now closed until further notice and I’m out of work for at least 3 weeks because of the ‘soft’ UK lockdown. It’s a fun time waiting to see if I can get any wage support from the gov but it’s not looking very likely 

To cheer myself up I’ll be streaming this eve, just doing some chill painting, I’ll link here if anyone would like to join me!

Little update from me with all that’s going on in the world right now!

I’ve been pretty stressed out, I’m fine health wise but the salon where I work hasn’t been shut down, and everyone here the the UK is being encouraged to self isolate, which means no clients are coming in, everyone is cancelling etc. But because we haven’t been shut down we can’t claim any help from the government if we voluntarily shut down, and we’re all self employed stylists so no sick or holiday pay either sooooo yeah, good fun stressful times ahead! There’s been talk of mortgage payments being frozen for 3 months, but nothing about rent, schools are being closed, I think, but again, nothing else is for some reason basically unless you’re employed and work for a company who is sending people home on paid leave you’re pretty screwed financially right now! I’m a couple of weeks away from not keeping up with rent so I’m trying to distract myself when I’m at home with playing games and getting back into a bit of painting etc, but there’s still the underlying panic

I’m not sure what’s going to happen honestly, I’ll keep you all updated (if there’s anyone left on tumblr these days!) and I’ll most likely be streaming this weekend! Come say hi if you’re around :)

Life update!

If there’s anyone still left on my blog XD here’s what’s been happening with me

So I’m still working my night shift job, but since August have got another full time job in my favourite alternative hair salon in town (where I’ve been a customer for 6 years), I haven’t hairdressed really since college where I got qualified (apart from doing friends and family’s hair over the years since) so I’m being trained back up there and so not earning a huge amount, hence having to keep both jobs on at once. I’m completely exhausted, mentally and physically but we’re aiming to have me at the salon trained up by xmas. I’m really hoping I can quit the warehouse job early next year but I’ll be self employed under the salon and paid per client so won’t have a set wage which terrifies me, especially living alone and being the sole bill-payer I’ve also tried to start dating but nothing’s worked out so far, because of guys being dicks and ditching me halfway through a date (yes that happened...), or living too far away or just having a shcedule that didn’t match up with mine etc. so I’ve given up for now and resigned myself to being alone forever :( it’s exhausting trying to find someone I had to get a new car, my dream car (Mini) had one too many problems and ended up getting scrapped :( that was about 2 weeks ago and I’m still gutted, but I have a new (well... 2006) little ford fiesta which will hopefully keep me going for a while at least. 

apart from all that my cats and snake are well, my kitten Bonnie is almost fully grown cat size now and still an absolute handful! Although I have taught her how to play fetch with a ball! It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen a cat do and I have no idea how I taught her because I didn’t use treats I just started throwing this ball for her and she started bringing it back!

So I adopted a new kitten called Bonnibel (Bonnie for short, or Bon bon), and yes I am still alive...

Just an update, I’ve been out of the painting game for a while, just working mainly and trying to slowly feel more creative again as I’ve not really felt like it since I started my new job doing night shifts, it really threw off my whole life it felt like.  I decided I wanted another cat just over a month ago after I visited a cat cafe and a tiny fluff ball of a kitten sat on my lap and wouldn’t leave, I’d been considering getting a 2nd cat for a while but that was the catalyst for sure. Then I saw a post from my local rescue place about this little black and white kitten who’d mum had been brought in pregnant, so she’d been born at the foster home, I messaged and had a phone interview kinda thing the same day I think, then a home visit a couple of days later, the day after that I got to go meet her and bring her home, it was all a bit of a whirlwind and I wasn’t totally prepared but I got through the first couple of exhausted no sleep/stressed weeks (stupidly without booking any time off work) and now she’s pretty settled in after... 5 weeks or so. I love her so much. My other cat Arya doesn’t love her quite so much but they’re getting there

Other than getting Bonnie not much has happened, just been trying to improve my mental health, going to the docs and trying different medication etc, mixed results so far but I hope I’m getting closer to something that works for me, it’s been a bit of a struggle dealing with depression etc while living alone, it’s been 2 years as of last month that I’ve been on my own in the flat and it really feels like it haha, socialising is difficult ‘cause of my night shifts, so I mainly just see people at work. I get along with all of the guys (and there’s actually another woman working there now, which makes a nice change from being surrounded by young guys) but it’s not quite the same as hanging out with friends etc

I’m hoping I can find another job with better pay and better hours for me but there’s not a lot out there where I live. For the time being at least I can pay the rent and keep my pets fed and happy so that’s something

Hey all, meet my new baby Monty

He’s a royal python, I’ve had him about a month now and I love him so much already, he’s only about 8 1/2 months old! 

more life updates under the cut; 

again, I’m not dead! Been settling into full time work life, but also dealing with a back injury, well, misaligned hips which has caused a lot of pain in my back and leg. I’ve taken a week off this week and used some holiday so I can rest my back properly but been in pain since before xmas, also seeing a chiro most weeks to push it back into place slowly and gradually! I want to get back into being creative so badly but it’s like it’s been one thing after another getting ill and being in pain etc I can’t wait to (hopefully) feel normal again and get back to feeling like myself.

Thanks to anyone who has still stuck on my blog through me being so creatively inactive this last year, you are very much appreciated <3

I’ll still post here but might look into finding a 2nd platform as well to post stuff to in case I do any more nsfw stuff in the future. Luckily I only had like 2 pieces of artwork I had to delete but my heart goes out to all those creators who have lots or a majority nsfw blog, this is bullshit Tumblr
