When Sick

“Yeah, we’ve both gotten sick since we’ve been together. Roy’s only been sick a few times since I’ve been with him. Since he’s almost at the top of the food chain in the military now, he’s not really out and about. He basically spends the majority of his time with his team and the other generals, occasionally with a few of the people who are farther underneath him, but that’s about it. That and since he always wears gloves, he naturally has a better shot of avoiding germs. When he does get sick though, I just force him to stay in bed and actually rest! He barely listens to me, but I usually get my way.”

“I suppose I have been rather fortunate in regard to my health. I’ve never been especially prone to illness of any kind. Edward, however, hasn’t been as fortunate.”

“Surprise,” Edward said with a pitiful look, “Who would have guessed?”

“For about the first year, Edward had managed not stay healthy, but as soon as he agreed to become a professor, it exposed him to a lot of students who would still go to class despite being on their death beds. He’s had colds, the flu, stomach bugs, anything you could catch from casual contact with another person.”

“Yeah, people are disgusting vessels for carrying diseases…but what you can you do?”

“The students are vermin, truly,” Roy joked, “During each of these incidents, I would try to do everything to help Edward recover, or at least rest comfortably, but he immediately pushes me away when he shows any symptoms of feeling unwell.”

“Because. There is no point in both of us being sick. Plus, it’s a little more important that you don’t catch anything from me. You know, with that whole, I’m a general thing? People notice if you miss work. If I have to stay home, they just sub me for some scrub who knows nothing about alchemy or cancel my class altogether. Not really a big deal in the scheme of things.”
