It's my 3 year anniversary on Tumblr š„³
Sometimes I wish I wrote more popular muses so that I could get more engagement with my rp blogs than I do with my ocs. But at the same time I do love writing them a lot with the few people who come my way.
I feel like I might lose an rp partner I have enjoyed writing with in the next days or week. I hope I am wrong about this because I adore writing with them. I have just been noticing a lack of muse from them for our threads recently, though it tends to come in waves from them when it comes to engagement.
psa about blocking people
feel free to reblog.
people have to seriously stop assuming that once they find out someone has them blocked (and i don't mean soft-blocked but hard-blocked), that that person hates them or that they did something wrong.
i've asked people and based on their answers people block most because:
they want to get a better variety of blogs recommended to them
they have blogs they are not interested in in their tumblr recs
they don't want blogs they are not interested in to follow them
they don't know the character / fandom and only have a limited amount of mental energy to learn about new characters / shows and will most likely not follow characters / shows they don't know.
they block for self protection with no ill intent (it is rarely because they hate the writer but it might be because the character you rp or the fandom they are from triggers them in some way or someone ignored their personal boundaries / invaded their safe space (either without or after a being told not to) / did something else (individual judgment necessary) and made them quite uncomfortable)
real life is catching up to them and they are overwhelmed
bolded points, i have found out, make the majority of reasons here.
it is an EXCEPTION that you are blocked because someone hates you. i, for one, block SOLELY based on disinterest. i don't hard block anyone because i dislike the person behind the blog unless absolutely necessary. in fact, i don't even know these people well enough to be able to judge them or care about them enough to do any blocking maliciously. i just judge what i see their blog (posts) is about, which (in my case being a role player) is the character or the fandom and if i find that i am not interested in their blog, why should i let tumblr keep recommending it to me?
it makes no sense. as does getting upset about ppl hard blocking you.
it is 2023 and i REALLY want people to be more at ease and be less anxious online. there is no reason to be in a constant state of mental agony online when it concerns strangers - people you have never even met before. it should not matter what they think about you, nor should it matter when someone has blocked you.
most people won't remember you. most people don't care about you. what they care about is how COMFORTABLE they are online and then act upon it. this might sound harsh but let's talk facts and look at it from a rational perspective: we all have our own personal lives and worries and get online to chill and relax. the LEAST thing we need is being guilt-tripped for something that has been offered to us to CHILL AND RELAX (or protect ourselves).
so let's not treat each other like criminals for something as trivial as a hard block.
Do you ever just want to go back writing with an rp partner after like months even some years, but knowing that they have moved on or they deactivated completely. I miss so many plots with people I know I can't write with anymore.
Fuck, I am equal parts excited as I am nervous, I got muse back for a character I haven't played in quite some time and hsd the courage to message a new person about rping together. I want to hope that it will go well but I have been burnt so many times before by rp partners abandoning threads/losing interest, deactivating their blogs etc. Which I know is normal and I am not above doing either of those things, but I just want one person to consistently write with, for at least a momth or two, heck even two weeks or a week, I just want my muse to have room to play around again with another muse they are interested in.
I deal with enough drama in my Offline life, so I don't carry around vendettas against other users or role players. My burden is already breaking me, so I'm not going to let my ego ruin my online experiences. Because being petty, vindictive, mean, and holding into being wronged is your ego controlling you. Role playing is my happy escape and I'm going to keep it happy. I block, filter, unfollow, and blacklist. Other than that I just vibe with my friends.
The amount of work people will put out for others only to start hating them for stupid shit is so so funny. You made me some art of my ocs and now you hate my guts because your abusive little friend told you to hate me or else. Congratulations on your wasted hours of artistic labor! All because I established some boundaries and that ruffled her narcissistic feathers.
Talking shit about people on your private server is not a flex.
why is it okay to complain about not getting replies when I already told you Iām sick? Instead of asking me how I feel or checking if Iām okay, why is it more important to reply to your crappy threads? Whatever happened to real life first?
confession⦠I blocked my main partner on my blog that I redid and I donāt feel guilty.
I hate call outs because total strangers want you to get involved in their drama and most of us are just here to have fun! I don't know you, I don't know the other person, and I don't care! I watched a fandom self destruct not that long ago because some insufferable bitch needed to be Right and needed everyone to agree with her. I can't stand these situations you wouldn't walk up to random people and start yammering about your personal beef with so and so, they'd tell you to fuck off. This being the internet makes it way too easy to try and burden random people with whatever you see fit and it needs to stop
Tip for rping ocs: please rp them how you want them to be perceived! I have unfortunately come across rpers in the past who wanted their ocs to be seen as good people, but made them bigoted towards marginalised groups and rude, and then got upset when other rpers didn't like or feel comfortable with their ocs. If you want your oc to be perceived as a good person, the last thing you want to do is make them bigoted!
Sometimes I donāt like my rp partner. Sometimes I get overwhelmed when people try to pressure me to reply to them. I have a life too and this is supposed to be fun. Itās not fun when Iām forced to reply and itās also not fun when the character Iām replying to is boring af and acts like they have no flaws. Itās also not fun when an rp partner makes the whole plot revolve around them and not give a shit about my characters. So stop ābumpingā our replies every five fucking minutes. Sometimes writing with my rp partner makes me want to quit rping all together.
"I block annoying personalities!" so, have you blocked yourself yet? If I had a dollar for every person who hates annoying people but is also annoying, I wouldn't have to work for the rest of my life.
Pro tip for role players but really this goes for everyone using tumblr: if you make public posts about a blog you hate and give their url, don't call someone's inquiry about about it 'drama mongering' you have blatantly opened yourself up and invited drama by posting that publically. Deal with it. YOU put that shit out there for anyone to see so you're going to have to handle the consequences! I can't stand people who reblog things about politics, exotic animal keeping, shipping and what have you and then throw a fit when someone sends them a message about it. Either turn asks off or stop posting about stuff that invites discussion or rants.
