okay now i'll get serious

you'd first watched people play killing haromny online when a friend recommended you look into it- -and after a long few months of becoming obsessed with the game, you decided to play it yourself! of course, having become knowledgeable about said game enough to know it like the back of your hand, you knew the dialogue inside and out. so when you boot up the game you were perplexed to find that anytime you interacted with rantaro, it didn't seem to line up with what you'd seen. at first, you assumed you downloaded a different, updated version of the game. maybe even a fan-made mod. but once you checked the game's version, you found this wasn't the case. it was the right one. and though when he spoke he obviously was speaking to kaede, it felt a little too like he was speaking to you directly. especially with the changed dialogue. of course this all came to an end when he died. after his murder, the game played out in the story line you were familiar with. however, when it came to the point where you'd see his tape, it was (you guessed it) different. instead of the usual scene, he sat in a room. looking back at you as you stared at the screen with brows furrowed and knotted in confusion. he offered you a smile. and addressed you directly by your name. of course you'd sit back, off put by this as anyone in their right mind would be. your first thought was maybe the game was actually a meta horror game- that it was supposed to do this. but of course, you knew this game. you were in denial. but he's patient. of course he is. that's how rantaro is. once you've semi come down from your high, he greets you with a smile. a smile of which has softened a bit from the first one. like he's working with a frightened animal. "... there. all better now." -he'd start. "sorry. didn't mean to scare you like that. I didn't scare you too bad, right?" he spoke like he was talking to any other character. calm, collected, soft. in a way that made it to where you couldn't help but let some of the tension in your shoulders loosen. he'd explain just what was going on. about how he was truly sentient. this prompted you to ask the obvious question, "does that mean the others are too..?" to which his constant smile would flatten on a microscopic level. "nah.. nah, they're not. just me." but his smile quickly returns. "but that's why I had to talk to you."
