a memory kicks in, nostalgia showing on pale face in form of a hinted grin. one that however, followed up by his sister’s words, only lasts a few seconds. instead, embarassment took over, a decent color creeping onto marble visage.  ❝ that was once! one time. and ages —— A G E S ago. ❞  as soon as the younger held up his defense, fingers were quick to wrap around the round object tossed at him.  ❝ just, please don’t go ‘round saying that. you also had plenty of opportunities to embarass yourself that i’m not bringing up. ❞ a hand was raised, first to perform a gesture then to pitch back the ball with added strength.

          “   WHOA   !!   ”   she laughed and captured the ball with both hands.   “   someone’s defensive,  huh   ?   that hit a nerve.   ”   feigning an apologetic expression,  she responded,   “   my bad,  do you not want me to mention all those times you ran into a glass door when you were like,  twelve   ?    ”   the grin didn’t wipe off of robin’s face as she continued to list off all the things that he did that could be categorized as at LEAST mildly embarrassing.   “   besides,  i hide what i do pretty well.  you don’t have dirt on me,  ”   she concluded.   “   pros of being the older sibling,  kid.  ”

          at the mention of softball,  her face lit up in excitement.   “   h e l l  yes.   ”   she caught herself before she got too excited.   “   well,  you’ll still need to try out since you are new to the team.  but i mean,  we are pretty small and always looking for new members,  so i’m sure coach will love you.  ”   robin looked at her with a big smile on her face.   “   if you want,  i can always help you practice   ?   i’ve got too much time on my hands anyway,   ”   she offered.
