Sorry, I just re-read and remembered you wanted a non-anon ask! To be honest, I haven't used this account in over 10 years and I'm embarrassed by it. But I digress. Would you be interested in sharing a copy of Libera Me? I miss that fic a lot. Thank you for your time!
Hello!
I don't mind sharing a copy but I gotta find one lol! I don't have a PC anymore, and that's where I used to keep that stuff.
Give me some time to look around and check back here tomorrow. :)
Also, I don't mind anon asks! I would turn it off if I didn't. I know some people feel uncomfortable being perceived. I'm not sure where I said I wanted a non-anon ask; without the context, I can only apologize. It's too late now, of course, but just a FYI!
Hello! I hope this isnt too weird, but your old soriku post from 2002 is making the rounds, and I wanted to see if u still played kh, or if u still liked the pairing? If this was weird, feel free to ignore!
Hello, there!
Old Soriku post? Was Tumblr even around in 2002? I'm afraid I don't know what you're referring to...
Anyway, I played KH3 and all the games before it besides the gacha one, but I haven't played the DLC(?) expansion. I've been a bit frustrated with the way the story was going, and KH3 was just a slog to go through. I enjoyed a lot of aspects about KH, and I felt KH3 was a let down in a lot of that regard and was too caught up in its complicated lore. My favorite games are KH1, Birth by Sleep, and Dream Drop Distance.
I still like the pairing though. I did a lot of work for them including fics and fanart and just faded cause of real life. I don't participate or keep up with the fandom in any way now, but they were an OTP for me when I was younger, so they have a special place in my heart.
I apologize for the late reply! I don't check my notifs often cause I don't get anything, lol.
(JP version... I think Fukujun is such a good fit. https://youtu.be/9zscax9rIis?si=EycAzlebUdk2AXXP)
So I played PGR when it first came to global in 2021, and Kamui was my favorite character, and the one I played most (Tenebrion). I quit the game a bit after cause I couldn't vibe with the match 3 action stuff.
It's been ten thousand years, but my boy Kamui finally got a new frame. I reinstalled to enjoy the moment, and they did fairly well with him. And what a glow up!
I had to laugh at how much the models improved when I removed Kamui Tenebrion from my home screen and put in Aeternion.
Anyway, so I got him to SSS, his weapon and his CUB (these didn't exist when I quit...), and then I went and got him that pretty skin, and now pgr is in my game rotation
their ‘brainstorming’ when they’re about to suffocate stayed exactly same 🤣🤣🤣 poor Wu Xie with intense yelling from one side and intense staring from the other 🤣
Jade Gate Pass in Hexi dropped, so more aura farming from Jiumen...
These were all from the traveling marks where you had to take pictures for a checklist...
The region is really beautiful, in that desolate, melancholy way. I usually don't care for desert or dryland type regions cause I find them very ugly (give me green!), but the mix of realism and dream helps elevate the atmosphere. I love that the "sun" is the moon.
White hair version. I set both the white hair and dark hair as my rotating lock screen, and it's a pretty cool effect.
The New Year event is killing me, but this one here got me hard. Yi Dao is a fave, so I'm happy we could share another moment together.
Speaking of faves, I found my boy Jin Zhongyuan just hanging out? At some table by the big bridge in Kaifeng? You can't even talk to him. Like... Doesn't he have actual important things to do? Him and his brother just doing what they can to avoid work, for real lol... No wonder the country is falling apart.
A while back I said I needed to find a better guild that wasn't so awful, and today I logged on and I think some drama went down! The guild member count reduced drastically including the big whales, the discord is gone (?), the Vice GM is out, and the GM posted a vague message hinting at drama. I wanna know! Everyone involved aren't very chill (in fact the VGM got a special shout out a long time ago on the unofficial reddit for their attitude lol), so I wonder what happened lol...
Well, regardless, I felt it was a sign and left. Now to find another guild...
I had gotten into the Arknights Endfield PS5 Beta II.
My tldr thoughts: nothing special but nothing bad.
The AK aesthetic always interested me, but I couldn't get into the tower defense gameplay of the OG. All I knew about this version was it was open world action RPG with factory elements. I applied for the beta on a whim and got in and put in my serious effortb to try the game.
The designs lack some of the charm of the OG AK look; it feels like the usual generic mass of extruded anime gacha popular these days. The character models are nice enough, with shaders meant to mimic the AK art style, which is a pleasant touch. The models also move fluidly, but it's still generic horny anime aesthetic, so while pretty, it's all things I've seen before. Only a couple designs felt interesting.
AK has never been balanced on gender ratio, but it's especially egregious here, and a few of the female characters are exactly the type of waifu trope I can't tolerate. The women also get really high level, meta kits, while the few men are very basic, servicable at best, and not present in the story. I am not the demo here.
Man, the story is so bad. I started skipping (some skips have summaries) cause the first world (Valley IV) was just a massive tutorial that kept dragging on. And do we really need 5 cut scenes of NPCs thanking and glazing the MC for helping them? Is this just Wuwa in a different hat? It's really egregious. Everything feels conflictless, with no stakes again like Wuwa. No one disagrees or mistrusts the MC and his extremely powerful company.
But yes, the story is just... Poor. Things are happening. The MC is a beloved CEO. I'm hoping it'll be revealed that he's actually destroying the environment and was a villain in his many past lives, just to give things some interest. I heard things pick up in the next world, but I have played over 20 hours to this game, and I'm still stuck on this boring, awful place with its dragging plot.
Environmental graphics aren't jaw dropping gorgeous, but they are smooth with minimal pop in, and while pleasant to the eye, looks exactly like other environments from other games. The open world is also very "small"; this feels less like an "open world" and more like an "open area," akin to what you'd see in a traditional RPG. Not necessarily a bad thing especially since you have to do a lot of building, but the open world also suffers from the same problem I had with other OW gacha: it's pretty empty. I don't feel any sense of accomplishment for exploring.
It doesn't help that movement doesn't feel good. The jump is awful feeling and hilariously basic in animation, considering how nice the character movements are. The dash is so slow and you can't traverse in water. The game wants you to use zip lines for speedy travel, but I find the zip lines to be more of a pain to set up (they have to be powered... So you have to build out to an area first). There's other players' zip lines, but they aren't always put in convenient areas.
Yes, the game does a thing like in Death Standing where other players' builds will show up in your game, like zip lines or stashes or artillery. Sometimes, it lets you sequence break, but often their shit is in my way, so I have to take time to delete them. I didn't see a way to turn them off.
Music is fine, but loops too quickly. I didn't play with English voices, but the sub translation and in game text are very solid. There are a lot of words just to say a simple thing, but AK is a very wordy series, so this is par.
Which leads to the factory building. It's pretty extensive, but not as intricate (yet? I suspect it'll get more complicated as the game ages) as a dedicated factory game. But you'll definitely be spending a ton of time on this, as it is tied deeply into the game progression and experience. If you don't like factory stuff, this game might not be for you. It is not optional.
The game does have tower defense, which is also not optional (in general). I did it once because the game forces you, but TD just isn't a genre I enjoy.
Gacha is painful with less than 1% rate. The weapon gacha is even worse, since it's highly dependent on the "prizes" you get from drawing the character gacha to roll it. (There are some other sources but this is the main one.) Unlike the OG, this follows the 50/50 rule, but no carryover on the 50 between banners. There's different currency tickets (standard and the one for the new unit, can't use between them) and a paid currency and a battlepass with 3 tiers (no gacha tickets). I didn't get the unit I really wanted to play, and that always kills my enjoyment in action gacha as well.
And you really need someone you enjoy playing, because the game has a lot of busywork. While the actual daily missions are quick-ish, the resource gathering is mostly manual (e.g. recycling centers, rare resources, stock trading, character bonding). It's a lot of traveling over the maps and it's so tedious. Since this is a beta, I don't care if I miss it, but it's the biggest deal breaker for me when playing the game for keeps.
Ultimately, I'm glad I got in the beta, cause I do spend money on my games and this test run revealed that I am not the audience for this game between the generic waifus, the time demand, and the ML genre. On its own, it's a well made game. I may give it a shot with it's real release to see if my feelings have changed if I'm invested, but with my current game line up and with other games on the horizon, I don't really feel like this scratches an itch that is missing from what I already play.
I gave it a shot with the real release. Skipping everything until Wuling and speed running the rest since I remember. Had no luck with my rolls again so dunno if I'll even make it through Wuling.
But feeling justified by my original review from a lot of the negative sentiment (outside the PP fiasco I've seen.)
Omfg there's a DMBJ reference in Where Winds Meet! In front of a ruin in Roaring Sands, there are three characters named Wang Pangzi, Tian Zhen, and You Menping discussing tomb raiding.
The Xiaoge expy keeps speaking in short cryptic words and the Wu Xie expy translates for him. And then Pangzi just reveals he's a Pingxie shipper on deck lol.
Oh wow, they even got a Wandering Tale sidequest.
The models (Xiaoge seems to be using the female Midnight Blades model?), left to right: Tian Zhen, You Menping, Wang Pangzi.
Though I'm already in Well of Heaven atm, I took the sect test for fun and ?? I don't think the sect is even joinable in the game in CN lol?
Will say that I love their clothes though.
Related to sects, I really need to find a new guild. The one I'm in is active which is great, but all of the chatty players are really unpleasant or juvenile. I just ignore the discord cause I'm not super social anyway, but sometimes I just want to talk about something neat I found in the game...
I finally got the Well of Heaven hair (remained sectless for a long time after I got the amazing sectless hat). I wanted it cause it was a very simple up-do with cute bangs. Too many of the up-dos have hairpins/headbands and/or no bangs, and Jiumen's facial structure looks best with bangs.
I put a little flower by the top knot and adjusted the ugly gacha hat (the one with the big ribbon going around the forehead with all the flowers) have the veil trail out from under the bun with the rest of the hat hidden inside the head model.
And I'll change it all up tomorrow lol... I wish there were more outfit save slots... I already opened up all the ones we have right now...
