genuinely i don’t think it’s possible to easily explain the explicit part of online friendships to people who don’t Understand. i don’t mean like, explicit in the sense of “oh you’re sexting” or whatever. no. i mean when you and your friend start gleefully making up explicit sexual scenarios for your shared blorbos and you get giddier and giddier as you add more detail and you’ll be grinning at your screen as you type away at mach speeds. and it’s entirely nonsexual in an interpersonal sense, you’re not really getting Into it, but ohhhhh it’s soooooo fun and satisfying. and you can NEVER tell someone who doesn’t also do this that your mood is actively improved like fivefold because you and your friend played Sexual Tuoys together because they’ll go “what the FUCK.”

I'm on the end of the second tome of Téméraire by Naomi Novik.

I start Je chante et la montagne danse by Irene Solà, translated from Catalan. Very intense poetic writing. It’s nourishing for my own writing.

Current obsession: Upgrade my flute. I started playing again this year, after ten years of involuntary break (health issues). In one year, I managed to recover the level I had when I stopped. It's huge ! I'm thinking of acquiring a higher-end flute, but somehow i feel illegitimate…

Currently working on: This summer, surviving heat is a full time job. I had no break for more than a month… I try to maintain some of my activities (more for my mental health than for productivity). I finally started a painting project that has been waiting since last December. I reworked the initial sketch and prepare the fabric of the canvas.

Maybe I will try to make a full post about this painting project.

guhhh just thought of a line which turned into a scene and now i need to write that ZHL writing their story which ends up in the hand of a reincarnated ZHX fic...

"What do you mean, 'Xiake's* only mistake in life was meeting Dao'?" Haixia storms into his room, indignant, the words spilling out of his mouth without him really processing them. "Their meeting was his greatest joy in life, his guiding star, because if the world was at peace, then that meant that 'Dao' was safe too." It is a minute before he really understands what he just said, xiao Zhang-ge's expression of aloofness morphing into something fragile, and he catches a flicker of fear in his eyes, before it is quickly cast aside for indifference, a still lake once more. Haixia knows he's overstepped here- but that passage, that line in the book had caused him to recoil, his heart a thundering beat of wrong, wrong, wrong, in his ears, crawling up his throat, and his first instinct had been to seek him out. *placeholder names for now, because I'm rubbish at coming up with them

another idea i may not write anytime soon but just the concept of Feng Huang getting up to her usual antics and trying to use an aphrodisiac on Zhang Haiqi. It doesn't work, obviously, and she brushes it off, maybe beats the habit out of Feng Huang, whose interest in ZHQ is further intensified by her indifference. (and honestly, just the concept of ZHQ reacting to someone chasing her in earnest? maybe? though she would probably struggle with it because Feng Huang, in her eyes, is so young. Even younger than her sons, and still wet behind the ears.)
