Hi! My name is Rubi (or Braylen). Im a small artist who loves any and every medium of art. I have a major interest in space and astronomy, which is very noticeable in my OCs and original story. I've only been investing in improving my art for about 5 years as of making this post, so I still have alot of things to practice. Sometimes I make fanart for media such as deltarune and pretty much any indie show (Specifically glitch shows) but I also talk about and make art related to my original story, characters and species! My pronouns are they/he and im currently not doing any commissions. BUT I might draw a little doodle if it is requested in the ask box :) (also feel free to ask about my story/ocs etc!)
I have a more detailed intro post on my main blog @rubitheracoon in case anyone is interested :)
The story of Sun and Moon (WIP)
In the beginning, our world was nothing but a frozen rock engulfed in darkness so pure that life was impossible to exist. The stars saw potential in this world, Thus, they created the sun to draw the darkness out into a singular point, the singularity, and shine its everlasting warmth on the earth and spring new life. To assist in their mission, the Sun created the Solarins, and the fierce dragon Solaris to protect the Singularity, which would become the relic of the Solarin people.
But the sun realised that half the world still wasnt filled with their light, so they created the Moon to reflect the suns shining beauty, and watch over the night. The Moon created their own race of people to nurture the Solarins' budding life as they slumbered, and gave them their own relic to watch over, a piece of themself, which contains the peoples power to nourish. These people were the Lalun people.
Together, these races were left to take care of the world the Sun and Moon had worked hard to create, and thus continued their mission to make life and allow it to flourish on this new earth.
Story Continuation below \/
But these people didn't get along as intended. The solarins began to form an overinflated ego, thinking they were better than the laluna people because they were the ones that created life. To them, the laluna people were like slaves, lesser.
This eventually led to one laluna boy to be swayed into stealing the solarins relic by his races' chief, thinking the singularity would turn the whole world into night, and his people would finally be on top. But when he released the darkness, all the life in the world except for the races died, and the boy had to sacrifice the laluna relic to return life to the world.
The sun and moon decided to turn the entire world into constant twighlight so the races could live together in equality, and they created a new race that would become peacekeepers. The world kept peace for hundreds of years, until a new monarch of the twighlight race came into power...
Nyx, the main character in this next era, and once a royal guard, begins to see the corruption of the new queen. He and his sibling decide to flee from their home; but only one of the siblings make it out alive.
After losing everything he loves, Nyx wanders the land until eventually deciding to go to the laluna for help. Unfortunately his queens evil has already had its effect, it will be harder to convince the races to come together and end her reign...
I will continue editing this post as i keep coming up with ideas, if anyone is interested in the story this is the best place to get a brief overview of the story so far :)
The design of this twighlight species (aka my sona):
Theyre like cat-like creatures with bug features. I've had this sona for over a year now and I still havent quite figured out the wings... I also designed him well before I came up with the story. (The image is really low quality fsr even though the file on my drawing app isnt, dunno how to fix it)
Im thinking of making the monarchs (royals) look distinctly different to others of the species aswell. Although im not sure if it fits with the whole "equality" thing. Im still tryna figure out the main themes/messages i want to tell
(Edit: wip design for the royals)
Fun fact, I actually came up with the story for an english exam and I ended up liking it so much that I kept it :)
Fun fact 2: my story took alot of inspiration from a fairly obscure movie I watched as a kid called Mune. I thought the world was so interesting and i love the vibe and worldbuilding in the movie :)
I decided to put her in the exact same outfit I’m currently wearing as I’m writing this cuz I thought it would be something jax would wear. I’m really proud of how it ended up looking :)
Transfemme jax has been taking over my mind since the damn finale. SHES SO LOVELY
It would be the funniest thing ever if I drew all my most favourite characters interacting with eachother cuz theres two types of favourites that are very distinct from one another
I like how the skull looks so far (I didn’t draw the skull myself I traced the reference)
I drew all the mushrooms myself tho!
I decided to try out a colour building brush and I like how it added so much detail with relatively little effort, it needs a bunch of cleaning up rn tho
I made this thank you art in preparation for the finale as part of a art showcase to say thank you to goose for this wonderful show
Huge thank you rant below
I am so grateful to have gotten to see the movie in theatres
I come from a relatively small town that- for the most part- dont really do anything with energy or pep in their step. This often translates at the theatres, even when you know the fanbase watching the movie are full of the most excitable people you could imagine, 99.9% of the time my friends and myself were the only ones jumping in our seats in excitement to whatever references and lore we learn.
Im saying all this because, TADC the Last Act was the 0.01%. when I went to watch The Amazing Digital Circus with those same friends, the whole theatre was full of energy for the entire movie. Everyone in the theatre sung along to caines song, everyone audibly got excited by every new development, and funniest of all, (SPOILER⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️) when jax flirted with gangle the entire theatre said "WOAHHHH" in perfect unison. (⚠️⚠️END SPOILER)
I have always seen videos of people reacting like this to other movies and I was always envious of how fun an experience like that must be, and the fact that I got to experience it with my friends, with a show ive followed since even before the first episode, is a core memory I will never let go of. For the first time it didnt feel like our group was insane for losing our minds at everything because the entire theatre was losing their minds. For the first time I actually felt genuinely apart of and surrounded by the community that loves the media theyre watching, and best of all I got to speak with my fellow fans after it was all over. (I even got to show someone who had queenie my kinger and we took a photo together!)
All this is a long winded way of saying:
Thank you @gooseworx, glitch, and the entire glitch team for making this show possible, for giving me hope in the animation industry that I hold so dear, and starting my personal tradition of waking up in the morning with a cup of tea to watch the next glitch premiere 🫶🫶🫶
I’m stupid and instead of going to bed and stopping at the sketch I decided to spend an hour colouring the entire thing. It is so late right now. My brain is fried
redraw of my first ever completed artwork!! This may look like it was originally a vent art but it wasn’t I just felt like doing something angsty when I first drew it (and I was also inspired by another artist) :D
Even 3 years later I still don’t usually do backgrounds so I’m really proud of how this came out. I was trying really hard to keep the same contrast and just overall practice values and all that art theory stuff. I think I managed to pull it off :)
