Amnesty International campaign I saw at Waterloo Station the other day. Info about prisoners was shown on the departure boards, really cool play on how a departure board displays time. I'd love to work with charities as big as Amnesty in the future.

Typography project - the brief was to explain a middle english word using only the letters in the word. Our word was bibben which means drunk.

This is what happens when you give graffiti artists an abandon warehouse and an unlimited amount of paint.

Incredible stop motion/time lapse. I've been making a short film made up of animation and video over the last few weeks, so I can definitely appreciate how much work went into this.

In 10 years time

As I am going to uni to study graphic design, the obvious answer would be 'in 10 years time, I will be a graphic designer.' 

When I'm 29, I would like to be confident, happy and working in a creative job which makes a positive impact on the lives of others. Although I would love to be a designer, working creatively does not necessary mean to work visually, I have always thought about working for a charity. I hope to learn a lot more than just visual language at university - I think that ideas are the underpinning of design, and of course to ability to generate good ideas can be used in any career.

Photographers' Gallery continued

One of the best parts of the gallery was it's bookshop. A lot of theory based books here, pretty much all that I had never seen or heard of before. Oh, and look at all those cameras! Didn't look at them for too long as I was afraid that if I did, I would have come away with an overpriced lomo camera, and £100 less in my bank account. 

The book I walked away with was Bending the Frame: Photojournalism, Documentary and the Citizen by Fred Ritchin

The book highlights that social media and use of mobile phone cameras are creating a problem for photojournalists - their work is seen as less valid, as often anyone can create photographs that are not technically better, but contain more information. Due to the abundance of mobile phone cameras, often amateur photographers happen to be in the right place to photograph something which is news worthy. This means that consumers trust has shifted from the photojournalist to the amateur. This book highlights problems and solutions for photojournalists to carry on making a living, and possibilities to re-invent professional photography all together.
