It’d been around a month and a half at this point, Ruby had hired a close family doctor to be her gynecologist and requested that her surrogacy be kept private. Considering her business though, she was more than capable than keeping it hidden, but still, she had to be sure.
Gestational surrogacy was...something else, for the very short amount of time that she was really familiar with. Especially when the child she was incubating was half alien, Ruby really didn’t know what to expect when expecting her close friend’s and his partner’s child.
Even if it was less than two months, symptoms immediately began. The moment her period had missed, she let Ellis know the surrogacy was successful, and she had never seen him so excited about anything in the years she had known him.
But regardless, she had to make it clear that she’d need her own space most of the time, and both Ellis and Bojack would have to stay on Earth for the duration of the pregnancy, mostly so she could have the comfort of knowing they’d be there when their kid was born. Still, when she went to make sure she really was pregnant, she had given Ellis a copy of the ultrasound, even if she was just about two months along. Ruby was well aware of how sentimental Ellis could get and if he wanted to document every part of his child’s life, she’d help provide.
Breastfeeding was something she wasn’t sure about, she didn’t talk about it with the fathers at any point, but for now, she would deal with taking it easy and trying to keep a stress free environment.
Ruby had no experience with pregnancy beforehand so the cramps and nausea came to an immediate surprise to he,r but it was nothing that she hadn’t been used to beforehand. Unfortunately, a lot of her coworkers had inquired about who the ‘baby daddy’ was and she had to improvise, tell them it was just some stranger from a one night stand.
NONE of her human friends were aware of her android ‘family’, not Daryl who she was close to, not Ellis, absolutely no one, and she intended to keep it that way for some time. If she had to make up some white lie, she was more than fine with doing that.
Ruby sighs, brushing blonde hair out of her face as she drags her feet through her small apartment and towards the kitchen. She’d gone through about 4 bottles of water already and she was still thirsty, but she supposed she’d rather be drinking excessively than to be dehydrated.
“God dammit,” She curses to herself. She should have at least asked Bojack what typical Herra pregnancy’s were like, she was absolutely sure human babies didn’t crave this much or made anyone this moody in history. Well, that might’ve been a slight exaggeration, but not to the hormonal android.
