Most of my longer works are sweet romance fics featuring rare pairings. They do usually include some chapters with NSFW content and are rated E on AO3 because of that.
My shorter fics tend to be rated G or T and are more safe for general audiences.
My posts and reblogs here will be SFW, and Iâll try to stick to that with likes too.
Hereâs my AO3 page
And this is my longest story, Heat Waves, which is a post-timeskip Iwaizumi/Ushijima fic!
explaining to my partner why haikyuu good like no you need to understand the entire story is composed of interconnected webs of clear dramaturgical dyads and furudate understands the brechtian idea that the smallest possible social unit is two people (as opposed to an individual) and so all of the action of the show youâre able to genuinely invest in because itâs built upon the foundation of meaningful and deeply compelling relationships between people and those relationships are tied together via volleyball as the connective tissue and then my partner is like yes dear
And what if I said trans boy Hinata, who normally has to deal with people asking him if heâs on the girlâs volleyball team, shows up at his first tournament and doesnât know how to process King of the Court Kageyama actually taking him seriously?
Sometimes I think about baby Tobio getting to Kitagawa and thinking for a second that maybe Oikawa could be what his grandpa meant by âsomeone better.â
And then that completely falling apart because Oikawa is not in the headspace to be that for him.
And Tobio ending up thinking maybe itâs not actually real, that that wonât happen for him like he said.
But then out of nowhere he gets absolutely captivated by some scrub who doesnât even know how to receive properly but just has Something About Him.
Then itâs months later and he hasnât seen that guy or heard anything about him, and heâs lost all his friends, and heâs failed his entrance exams, and now the coach heâd gone to this safety school for specifically because he wanted to play for him isnât here after all and everything sucks and then IN WALKS AN ORANGE IDIOT TO CHANGE HIS FREAKING LIFE.
Like obviously all the characters in Haikyuu have their rivalries but not all of them are bloodthirsty like Oikawa but they all live in the same region like Hinata found Ushijima just by getting a little bit lost. Do you think, like, Yamagata and Yahaba ever had to take an escalator ride together at a department store?
Yamagata: So.... Seijoh, right?
Yabaha: I think I'll be killed if I'm seen talking to you.
I have been following fandom communities and fanfiction since I was in late middle school, and midway through 2024 I finally decided to make my own ao3 account and start posting. One of the coolest things about this is now my engagement can be tracked. I have a reading history, and have become acquainted with fellow Kagehina writers, and I can bookmark things! So, a few months earlier than New Years to balance out the chunk of 2024 in the mix, here are all the bookmarks I've made so far in rec list form- a.k.a.

âI need to join a beach volleyball game for⌠practice,â Tobio grits out eventually, getting back on topic. He canât let his temper blow this opportunity â the chances of him finding another random Japanese speaker playing beach volleyball are likely to be slim. âOur coach sent us here.â
âPractice? For indoor?â Ginger asks, but he has the decency to look intrigued, pulling his cap back on and rubbing his chin thoughtfully. âTo like, transfer skills and stuff?â
âSomething like that,â Tobio shrugs. âSo can I join or what?â

Kageyamaâs hand flicked the light switch, flooding the room with a sudden, harsh glow. He turned slowly, gaze locking onto the figure perched on the windowsill, grinning like he hadnât a care in the world.
âNinja,â he growled, his eyes narrowing as they met the bright, all-too-familiar grin of Hinata Shoyo.

The Job by Esselle
Kagehina
"Kageyama Tobio only loves a few things in life: computers, movies, and interacting with other people as little as possible. So when he meets hotel employee Hinata Shouyou on a work trip and doesn't immediately hate him, it comes as something of a shock. Hinata is everything Tobio isn'tâoutgoing, worldly, and sexy AF. Even more surprising is the part where Hinata seems to be just as interested in him in return, plunging Tobio into the kind of whirlwind attraction he's only ever seen in films, and certainly never experienced for himself.
Tobio doesn't know why Hinata would want anything to do with him, but he can't stop himself from falling for Hinata's movie star-level charisma⌠and the air of mystery that surrounds him. Because for all their chemistry, there's something holding Hinata back, making him push Tobio away.
But Tobio is used to keeping people at arm's length, so he might be able to figure out how to get Hinata to let his guard downâand prove that he can be more than just some nerd Hinata met on the job."
Kuroo: Bo what are we doing on a volleyball court?
[Bokuto, staring at the candlelit dinner he prepared in the middle of the gym]
Bokuto: huh?
Bokuto: Kuroo... don't you know?
Bokuto: it's a courtship.
Today Iâm thinking about how basically all our Haikyuu monster gen boys are able to be so incredible because they had the right people in their lives.
For Hinata he needs someone to believe in him besides himself. He needs someone who can match and exceed him to show what heâs actually capable of, and thatâs Kageyama. And then later also Atsumu to an extent.
Kageyama also needs someone to challenge him, someone who will eventually make him be the one trying to keep up instead of leaving everyone else behind. Also someone to show him how to communicate more effectively and be around other people, someone to guide him out of everything going on in his own head. Thatâs Hinata with his boundless energy and fearlessness and big brother behavior.
Then we have the Miya twins, who continually push each other. Atsumu in particular needs someone who can both crank him up to 11 and bring him back down to earth just as quickly. Someone who can match his skill to keep him on his toes but has an outside life too. Someone who is like the part of his rocket that boosts him into orbit but then falls away eventually, going off to do his own thing and letting Atsumu keep going on his own. Thatâs Osamu, who is literally described in canon as Atsumuâs greatest blessing.
The exact opposite of that is Oikawa, who doesnât need someone to goad him on and push him â he needs someone to get him to stop. And thatâs Iwaizumi. He keeps him sturdy. Stable. His name meaning includes ârockâ for a reason.
Then Sakusa and Komori, who turn each other into one of the top aces and top liberos in the country by practicing with each other. Komori can dig almost anything now because heâs had years of practicing with his cousinâs weirdo spin. Sakusa is considered lucky or exceptional because of his wrists, but also considers himself lucky because of the people he meets who actually click with him and his prickly personality and challenge him and make him better (Motoya, Ushijima, and Iizuna)
The whole âluckyâ thing is also part of Ushijimaâs backstory and how he is who he is because Utsui protected his natural left handedness, likely at great cost. âI wonât ask for anything else.â He put everything into protecting Wakatoshiâs gift. (The IwaUshi shipper in me also likes to believe that his âIâm lucky tooâ also refers to his running into Iwaizumi and talking about a technique that later makes it so that he can challenge other teams on an international level, but Iâm gonna let yâall decide what you think on that, because I am admittedly very delusional about them.) But also letâs not forget best friend Tendou, who in high school is one of the only people to treat him like a normal person, who in timeskip calls him and knows exactly what to say when heâs struggling, because Wakatoshi is not used to struggling. Tendou knows what he needs, what to say to him to get him back on track.
And honestly, donât even get me started on Bokuto and Akaashi. I feel like I donât even have to explain why this involves them too, because damn.
But like, even outside of our major pro players, this happens to so many other characters too â like Hyakuzawa (later a D1 pro player) has Hinata, Asahi has Nishinoya, Nishinoya has his grandfather and Kinoshita, Terushima encounters Daichi and appreciates Okudake more because of it, Tora (later a D1 pro player) has Kenma, Tsukishima (later a D2 pro player) has Yamaguchi & Gym 3 Bros, Kyoutani (later a D2 pro player) has Iwaizumi & Oikawa & Yahaba, Kita affects his entire team including Suna, Atsumu, Aran, and Riseki (later all D1 pro players), Hirugami Sachirou has Hoshiumi, etc.
All this to say, Haikyuu is a story of connection. Not just because itâs about volleyball where you have to literally connect (looking @ you, Nekoma), but because basically everybodyâs arc has something to do with having the right people behind them when they need them. âWho they become tomorrowâ is directly tied to the people who matter in their lives, and I think thatâs incredible.
Suga is this type of setter too, to be subbed in and refresh everyone on the court â hence the âMr. Refreshingâ nickname. And so I just think Oikawaâs maybe⌠probably⌠very likely⌠a little completely obsessed with him đ¤
