YOUR SO AWESOME HOW DO I DRAW LIKE YOU

"Perfect practice makes Perfect."

Words my Mother imparted on me.

Now - this does not mean I mean that my art is perfect, nor is that the goal. But it does mean that one must not default to just mimicry of what they have seen before.

Using guides that offer proper references, practising the wretched "rotate box" sketches, learning how and when action can sometimes take president over realistic proportion in motion - help.

It helps with developing your own style through learning the basics and understanding what parts you want to shine in your work.

It is laborious. It is frustrating and sometimes even with the best of practice, you will not find your "perfection".

But it will be good enough, because you did it - and you didn't seek to mirror someone else, you did it because you knew joy and hatred from the process. You did it because something in others work resonated in you to make you wish to do the same for others. You did it because you knew you could.

And in that, take pride in all practice. No matter how far it seems from your goal.

I just remembered that the "Shitbeard was recruited" au art has a cat in it. Is that the official Mr Smurples art? Or were you referring to another art piece?

in the Big D ganja gurus panel, how did you settle on the designs for the gurus? were they inspired by anything in particular, or did you draw some beautiful ppl out of the blue? love the art by the way, you consistently make such impressive pieces, they blow my mind every time :]

They're based off renaissance and other classical pieces of art. If you know the pieces, it's quite obvious. ; )

But I am thankful for the compliment, thank you for liking my work.

Also I was playing VTM bloodlines and ngl the tzimische himself didn't scare me (playing as a Nosferatu, I see scarier stuff when looking in the mirror) but his f'cked up creations did and it made me remember "oh yeah it's also an actual horror game". At least he called me semi beautiful so got that going for me

The joke originated as Stig seeing BBW and thinking "Big Bad Wolf" whereas to everyone around him it's obviously "Big Beautiful Women" and not daring to be the one to tell him otherwise.

I've played both Nosferatu and Tzimisce and had a great time with both being initially very angry about their circumstances and then just embracing it wholesale when they realise just how *easy* it is to give in to instinct.

Buns and kitties are the best pets!!!

I really loved the milk hare in the latest hunter the parenting episode and hope we get to see Mr Smurples or even a Bastet one day on hunter the parenting.

My Favourite wod creature will always be Ceilican.

I do indeed have a rescue cat and two rescue bunnies who I adore very much! Spooky (Moggy), Elsie (A lop of some description), and Scout (??????)

I'm glad you loved Milk Hare! He's a creation of Garrots but the little guy was a joy for the art department to draw.

Whilst there is one doodle that Mr Smurples makes an appearance in at most, maybe one day you'll see more of him!

Hej! I've come to ask for your blessing to hang up Wyrmus in my house hold as an art print. I've no intention to sell it I'm just completely obsessed with it

Thank you for at least asking, I've seen a few prints of my work I know I'm not selling in peoples photos and it has been a source of some mild annoyance.

The art on display in HtP is absolutely phenomenal, and at this point I'm quite thoroughly obsessed with it. I've been desperately trying to capture something of it's style in my own gremlinoid doodles but so far to no avail, is their anything you can share about your process and how you pull of such gorgeously distinct characterization?

I'm honestly not sure how to answer this one.

With the initial episodes, we originally all worked off Garrots concept art, and as a result a lot of the turnaround models made used the proportions from that artwork. He likes to emphasise certain character traits to parodic proportions - say D's legs, Pyotrs eyes, Shitbeards fists, Doors squareness.

We scaled back on those proportions somewhat with episode 4 onwards because at certain angles - the models looked odd and were difficult to animate. You may have noticed some scaling back on proportions to make them more logical in motion. Bar things like Kevins nose and the Blacklaws distinctive chins. More to do with limb proportions.

We also have a set limitation with what brushes we use for our work. We have an inhouse brush that is used for all the line work you see, and it gives a slight but distinct unity between all works. It also makes you consider *how* you use it in tandem with colouring and shading, because if you don't use it at all - the work looks disparate from everything else made, and if you use it for EVERYTHING it can throw off ones usual sense of style. It's a balancing act.

Start big and bold, then refine downwards. Set limitations to breed inspiration. You'll notice what works and what doesn't as you play with it. Practice is a must and you'll find yourself with time. Don't give up!
