So… apparently Hecate was more popular among the goblins than Chio thought. In fact, some of the goblins were starting to bicker among each other to get their attention.

Hecate glanced back and forth between the arguing groups of goblins. This is something that the mage.. honestly never expected to happen. As they heard the voices begin to grow louder, the mage sighed before pressing their hand to their throat, blue magic surrounding it. When they next spoke, the goblins would obey. They hoped.

“Everyone quiet down now.” They removed their hand before scanning the ground. “Chio, where are you?”

Sure enough, at the order, the goblins grew quiet. One or two thought Hecate had stolen their voices and grew panicked before they were snapped back to reality. At the same time, a little blue of fur could be seen hopping through the crowd, until out popped Chio, rolling out and landing in a heap at their feet.

"Present!" She chirped, putting a paw to her head in salute.

Lavender hues were filled with awe immediately soon as he looked out the window. The Labyrinth was large and vast, with many twists and turns within it. Mateus wondered if anyone had gotten lost in it and ended up meeting their demise because of it, because the Labyrinth seemed like a perfect place to put prisoners through.

The blonde mulled for a moment before turning his head to Jareth. “Hidden? Why do you keep it hidden?”

Jareth remained where he was seated, mismatched eyes on the stranger. As expected, he knew nothing about the Underground. As it should be.

“This land has laws of its own. These put it in the position that this kingdom would normally be explored on foot by individuals, for reasons I’m sure you can see why.”

Mateus had to think about it for a moment, but now he understood. They couldn’t just be brought here like Mateus had been, but they had to use a different method in order to even reach this realm. That made sense.

“I see, I see….” Mateus replied, turning fully to face Jareth, lavenders locking with his mismatched ones. This day went from boring to rather interesting, and Mateus wanted to pry for more answers if he were to be true. “So in order to reach this city, your castle, a mortal must get through your labyrinth?”

"Correct." There was no point beating around the bush. The other was important, yes; but the Underground's position of neutrality made it somewhere most didn't want to attempt to conquer. "Mortals normally get here through wishes, one of the main powers of this land. If they regret their decision, the run the Labyrinth to get here. Of course, it's a lot farther than it looks." While the Labyrinth and the magic surrounding it had nothing to do with Jareth, he couldn't help but feel proud regardless.

"Sometimes, however, non-wishers, such as yourself, arrive in through other means. Some are brought by goblins for a variety of reasons. Others have literally crash-landed in my throne room." Not all magic is perfect, after all.

Hecate chuckled a bit as they shifted, crossing their legs and adjusting their arms to account for the salve.

“Well, a friend of mine always taught me that it’s easier in crowds.” They raised their hand, blue smoke spewing onto the ground. It shifted to form a mob of people, a singular shape a brighter color than others.

As soon as Chio saw the smoke forming in front of her, she screeched and dived straight back into Hecate’s bag, shuffling around inside until her eyes and muzzle popped back out. She watched the figures with curiosity now she was of harm’s way.

Hecate smiled and laughed before speaking. “Now watch. In a crowd, everyone is jumbled and pushing.” They made the figures move to represent that. “Through all the jumbling, you can slip your hands in and grab the coins in their pockets without a single thought.” They made the lit figure move away a bit, and chuckles as they made it disappear.

Chio watched the scene unfold with wide eyes. “And… You don’t gets caught?” If goblins did that, they normally went in groups to cause mass confusion. “What happen if they sees you?”

“Well Chio, if they see you, you apologize and say something about the crowds pushing you into them, or you lie and say you saw someone else. Its all about misdirection.”

“We was never told to do that before.” Probably because a goblin would flee if it was spotted. Suddenly, Chio gasped. “You shoulds teach the other goblins! They can learns a thing or two from you!”

Hecate laughed a bit, leaning their back against the tree. Their stomach rumbled a bit, and they swept the area, not seeing a tavern or anything nearby.

“Oh for the love of White..” They cursed under their breath, a frown on their features. “Maybe tomorrow, okay Chio? I need ta find somefin to eat and somewhere to sleep before nightfall..”

Chio's head tilted, before her ears shot up. She had an idea! "Come with me! We can goes to the Labbyrinth. Goblin King won't mind!" He probably would mind, but Chio was quite naive. "That way, you can gets food and a bed!" Two stones with one bird!

She gave a nod before taking a deep breath and started counting to twenty at an even pace, using her steps as a guide. She didn’t know how long it would actually take…

And she also hoped that this Goblin King is a reasonable sort. Last thing she wants is to be turned into something unsavory.

Sure enough, by the time she reached ‘twenty’, they were ascending the stairs on the other side of the tunnel. This brought them into a building. As one soldier opened the door, it was revealed they were actually in what appeared to be a city. A large castle loomed before them just beyond a short bridge.

“Well, come on then!” One goblin exclaimed, moving out of the way to let her exit.

Sashta blinked in surprise, but she took a deep breath and took a stepped out, blinking in the sun as it hit her eyes. The center of the labyrinth…with this strange castle looming just ahead of her. It was both amazing…and a bit intimidating.

But at least now she will get her answers. She just hoped that she can get them without…sacrificing important…

As they reached the doors, a larger goblin opened it for them. It might have been difficult to budge otherwise. However, the goblins skidded to a halt as soon as they entered the castle.

There, standing before them, was a human-like creature with striking gold hair, mismatched eyes, a white shirt and dark trousers. An amulet hung around his neck. A frown formed on his lips.

“Care to explain yourself?”

Sashta’s eyes widened upon seeing the…well he has to be the Goblin King…he was far from what she was expecting that’s for sure. She took a deep breath to steady herself and to ground her back to reality before speaking.

“In a moment of frustration I wished I was away from my world and I guess it was taken quite literally.” She explained. “I’m not a…’runner’ or anything like that…I guess I’m just…misplaced?”

His deadpan expression remained the same,except an eyebrow arched. It was clear he was fed up of strangers landing on his doorstep.

"You wished yourself away? That was rather stupid." He helpfully observed. "Weren't you taught to 'be careful what you wish for' in case something like this happened? I suppose there's not much you can do now. You look like you're already on the way to becoming a goblin."

Calcifer watched the girl react to her surroundings at last. It’s not exactly the perfect spot, but what can you do. “You know, I’d offer you go get some sleep, but I only know this room. Unless you’re gonna sleep in the throne or something.”

“I couldn’t possibly-.” Her words were cut off with a yawn. How rude. “No, no.” Adhra said, waving her hand. “I’ll curl up in a corner.” Like the cat she was. Pulling up another chair from the kitchen, she rested her head against the table, arms acting as a pillow. “Thank you…again, Calcifer.”

Calcifer was about to counter when the girl moved with the intention to sleep against the table. He couldn't exactly encourage her to do anything else. "Don't mention it, lady." -- The night passed, uneventful as usual. But early into the morning, there was a loud knock on the door. Silence settled in the cluttered kitchen/living area, when another series of knocks disrupted it. A few thumps could be heard from upstairs as a cloaked figure stumbled downstairs. (Had they been woken by the door?) If Adhra tried to see who it was, she would be disappointed to see their face was covered by a hood and a long beard. They paused to double-take the presence of the stranger. "It's the Porthaven door!" Calcifer called out, snapping the figure from their thoughts. With a huff, they hobbled down the stairs. "Stand by." They said in a gruff voice before - click! - the door was opened.

Sometimes I can be a really great partner - - I might be really on top of replies. - I might have everything in my ask box answered. - I might be perfectly in synch with where you’re trying to take the thread.

But the great thing is that it’s okay! - When I drop a thread you like just tell me! The goblin flinched at her words. She had a point. With her threat in mind, he opened the castle door behind him and dashed inside, tail between his legs. A second goblin - who had wisely kept his mouth shut - had been watching the events unfold with a grin. But now he looked up at the Queen.

“Would ya like me to show ya to da throne room?” Ohh, this one was smart.

She smirked as the creature fled in terror, pleased with herself. However, when the second goblin spoke, her eyes slid to him and found herself slightly amused by his grin. A brow rose. ❝So, you’re the smart one of the pair, are you? Yes, do lead the way.❞

“Heh heh, I do tries me best, m’lady. Right this way.” Pulling the doors open properly, the second guard led her through the main corridor with his head held high. It was clear he was enjoying the moment. They turned a corner that opened to a larger area that would normally be busy with goblins. Today, however, it was quiet. The only figure there was Jareth, who seemed amused.

“Queen Mab is here to see yous, Yer Majesty.” The guard bowed, before returning to his post. It was good that someone paid attention to her introduction.

“Ah... What a surprise to see you here.” A smile played on Jareth’s lips as he rose to his feet to give a quick bow to the visiting Queen.

(omg I had to manually choose one because all the ones I randomly picked were actually awful)

So it seemed Marshall Mickey whats-his-face was actually interested in the Underground. On one of the next visits, Jareth was telling the other about the goblins that lived there.

“They live their own lives, I don’t particularly care what they do provided they behave. They can be strangers, married, friends, whatever. As long as they don’t damage the place too badly.”

It appears the stranger was noticed by a goblin, who was hopping on a tree branch in excitement. “Excooose me! Hooman! I LOVE DE BIRDY LOOK!” Obviously, he was complimenting the wing, but not all goblins can articulate well. In fact, this one looked rather avian itself, with feathers sprouting from his arms. With one final jump, it flapped its arms and rose into the air.

Only to crash in a heap at the foot of the tree. How embarrassing!

It’s a funny place, the Underground. When you get an invitation to the castle, you should remember this. Otherwise you find yourself lost in a room with logic-defying staircases and seemingly no way out. In Lamya’s defence, Jareth was only showing her the room, he didn’t expect her to stop and gawk at the madness, and continued on without her. Now he was on the other side of the room (upside, no less), sitting on the floor with a smug grin.

“Tick... Tock... Tick... Tock...”

Jareth stop being a butt and help her.
