I have beast stuff turned off when i play a cow because absolutely despise the pig scene (and when on i keep it to beast people only). i get the game is about depravity but the whole basis of a lot of remy and harper's scenes is that theres some scientific basis behind their experiments. so if they truly believe PC is a cow, then they wouldn't be compatible with an actual pig. i get the main pull of the scene is that its being recorded and sold elsewhere but really undermines Remy's whole stance of not being attracted to their cattle as they sit there and watch. while i dont think they're attracted at all to this, it makes them seem…kind of unintelligent as they put on a show of it actually being for an experiment. Seems like a poorly written scene just to include more beast content. The scene would make a lot more sense if it was another cow. In my fanon interpretation of remy, they dont do that and they dont know of their workers abusing the cattle.

I really dislike the pig scene too. Unfortunately, I play DoL+ with beast content enabled because of lurker hunting, so I remember every trip to the farm being a miserable experience.
It's actually been quite a while since I last visited the Underground Farm, and I haven't had much time to play DoL+ recently, so I don't remember the pig scene in detail. To be honest, I usually spam every rebellious option available and clicked through those scenes as fast as possible.
Anyway, I always interpreted Remy as watching from the side for supervision. I don't remember clearly whether they explicitly framed it as an experiment.
It sounds like you see the pig scene as serving an experimental purpose in addition to its business purpose, right? Personally, I always thought the "experiment" side was mostly limited to Harper's lunch jobs. To me, the pig scene was more about business and conditioning.
I actually feel sorry for pigs when I think about how most of them are raised as livestock, forced into lives completely removed from their natural instincts. But try thinking about the image pigs have as livestock. And then imagine being forced into sexual contact with one. It's about as far removed from human dignity as possible.
Of course, some of the audience are probably genuinely aroused by seeing the PC and a pig together. But honestly, I think there are probably even more people who enjoy it because of the humiliation, domination, cruelty, or degradation involved in seeing an attractive person reduced to that situation. (Considering how often Auriga-related content is tied to deviancy, I do think the first group exists in large numbers too, which is probably why those recordings have commercial value in the first place.)
And then think about the human cattle themselves. A person who is being brainwashed into believing they are a cow and forced to live as one. (Let's set aside things like the PC being an elk spawn for a moment. The other "cattle" at the farm are subjected to similar lunch jobs anyway.)
Imagine the psychological effect of being forced to accept that you've been violated by one of the animals most strongly associated with the idea of livestock—animals that symbolize a status beneath humans.
At first, someone would probably see it as an isolated incident. But over time, one way to protect yourself from repeated abuse like that might be to simply accept the identity being imposed on you. To convince yourself that you're an animal too, just a different kind of livestock, and therefore your dignity was never taken away in the first place.
That's why I've always thought Remy's goal with the pig jobs was to target exactly that point: to make the human cattle voluntarily accept being cattle.
Whether the PC is biologically a real cow isn't really important to Remy. As I understand it, Remy runs a human cattle farm because human cattle possess qualities that ordinary cows don't. Remy clearly distinguishes the two groups while still exploiting the human cattle as "cows."
Looking at it this way, the scene feels a bit more coherent to me.
Of course, interpretations can vary, and I'm not trying to convince you that mine is the correct one! I just wanted to share the perspective I've had since I first started playing. Maybe it might make the scene feel a little less frustrating to think about. (If it instead makes Remy seem even more horrifying, let's not think too hard about that. I don't think any of us would survive playing DoL for long if that were a dealbreaker.)
And I do agree with you that Remy probably isn't sexually aroused by the pig scene itself. They may feel sexual desire toward the PC, but I don't think they'd be interested in the beast aspect. The truth is whatever the developers intend, of course.
Regardless of whether Remy presents it as an experiment or not, I've always interpreted the pig jobs as another method of conditioning—another way of turning human cattle into willing cattle.
Avery is probably the second most interesting character to me, even though he ranks a bit lower on my favorites list. A lot of that comes from how he contrasts with Bailey, and how the story keeps comparing them on purpose or by accident, considering they occupy such similar positions in the town’s power structure and in their relationship to PC. Bailey is younger, but somehow Avery’s mentality and lifestyle feel less “old.” I really admire Bailey’s almost brutal level of diligence and self discipline, but there’s also something inherently appealing about Avery’s whole philosophy of living for pleasure and desire.
They both have trauma-related emotional stagnation to some extent. When Avery gets angry, he still feels like a child demanding something precious back. With Bailey, though, that teenage boy underneath his anger is much harder to see. On the “dad” issue, Bailey wins without question. What Avery offers instead is a completely different atmosphere. Honestly, he’s the one who actually needs PC to take care of him. That really is the dynamic. But he handles it in a very sly way, intentionally or not. Avery never promises PC anything beyond money, yet the polished and gentlemanly image he presents at first is loaded with implications, like he could offer a new system, something more civilized, safer, and more orderly than Bailey’s.
I used to think Avery was always the one provoking first, but that’s actually not true all the time. During their first meeting, after investigating PC’s background in the café, Avery has that little moment where he keeps glancing around nervously. QA explained it as him being afraid Bailey might see him. And during the café opening, Bailey openly wipes off the hand Avery touched, and Avery just swallows it, like he does in a lot of smaller moments.
At first Avery didn’t really have the same level of influence Bailey did. But once he joins Remy and the others, he suddenly gains the nerve to provoke Bailey through the issue of “ownership” over PC, even though PC clearly matters to him for reasons beyond that. And then we get to the fun territorial conflict part. Valstrax just bit down on Kirin.
Bailey’s reactions to provocation are always funny to me. If he truly didn’t care the way he claims he doesn’t, he wouldn’t get visibly irritated just because Avery is casually flirting with PC. He always has to look one more time. I originally thought Bailey showed up at Avery’s banquet to gather information, but he actually seems pretty uninterested in whatever is happening on Elk Street. He came there specifically to warn PC, mostly through sarcasm and by taking shots at Avery. But after hearing PC was being abused, his tone softens a little. And honestly, if PC weren’t there, he would’ve just left immediately without giving Avery even the slightest respect.
Did nobody tell him tsundere behavior went out of style already?

Also, since it’s my first time drawing hucow, adding cow ears is really difficult! They feel unfamiliar, so I think I’ll need to study how to shape them nicely.

I've seen a Q&A saying that Remy would consider a cow bikini vulgar but sexy. Since then, I always make sure to dress Opjelia in a cow bikini inside her outfit...
Thinking again about how Ophelia keeps choosing to go back to Remy, even though she knows it would be safer to walk away and build a different life entirely.
Because at some point, it stopped being about escape.
She wants Remy to acknowledge her as an equal, and she knows the only way someone like Remy could ever do that is through hatred, resistance, and conflict.
So instead of disappearing, she keeps returning just to become something unbearable for her.
Remy’s own cow becoming the thing that ruins her.
I wrote down the moment Ophelia first decided this.

Because she no longer had the strength to resist, Ophelia forced herself upright on trembling legs. Ignoring the dizziness brought on by starvation and exhaustion, she slowly lowered herself to her knees and pressed both palms against the cold floor.
A position on all fours.
The posture of an obedient cow — the kind Remy liked best.
Humiliation seeped into her bones, but Ophelia kept her expression blank. For now, she would perfectly play the role of livestock that followed her master happily. It was too early to free herself through death. She wanted to destroy her first. Remy — arrogant, composed Remy — had to be broken by her own hands.
“Moo…”
The sound slipped from her throat again. Once, every involuntary moo had made her want to claw her own vocal cords apart and force the noise back down her throat. Now she was producing it willingly, drawing in breath and shaping the sound herself.
Ophelia closed her eyes. She remembered the endless cycle of escape and capture at the farm. The terror. The humiliation. And yet, instead of simply running far away and never becoming involved with Remy again, she kept returning to this hellish relationship of her own accord.
Why?
Had the humiliation truly been severe enough to justify this obsession? Severe enough to risk experiencing it all over again, again and again, just for the chance to repay it? Even she could not fully answer that question.
The traces of Remy’s conditioning filled the darkness behind her closed eyelids. The way Remy had viewed her as nothing more than cattle. The rewards. The punishments. Every act of affection and cruelty had been carried out as though tending to a prized dairy cow.
And worst of all—
There had been moments, brief and shameful moments, when Ophelia had almost wavered beneath the warmth of Remy’s approval. When behaving obediently had earned her gentleness, praise, careful hands.
The feeling of Remy’s fingers scratching gently behind her black cow ears still seemed to linger there. The memory came easily to her — juicy apples Remy had carefully turned in her hands to make them easier to eat; the quiet voice that had soothed her while petting her for a few brief minutes in the morning; even the look in Remy's eyes after milking her by hand, as though she were something precious. Ophelia could recall every single one of those moments with humiliating ease.
But that only made it more miserable. The kinder Remy became, the clearer it was that she was not cherishing Ophelia as a person — she was only cherishing her livestock.
'…wanted her acknowledgment? As an equal?'
How absurd. Remy was cruel beyond redemption — a scum of a human being who transformed people into cattle, altering their bodies to harvest milk from them by force. There shouldn't be any reason to care whether a woman like that saw her as human.
And yet she did.
If even these twisted feelings had been planted inside her by Remy, then Ophelia would make sure Remy understood exactly how disastrously effective her conditioning had been.
Finally, Ophelia accepted her warped desire. She wanted Remy to see her as an equal. And she also understood that this could never be achieved through affection or kindness.
'Remy will be broken by her own cow.'
Her own cow.
Ophelia was speaking about herself. She decided to break Remy. Her plans. Her business. Her cult. Everything she built. Ophelia would interfere with all of it and become a constant thorn in her side. She would become something unbearable, ruining and sabotaging, making Remy hate her as deeply as she hated Remy at last.
Because that was the only way Remy could ever see her as an equal. Becoming a constant irritation made just for her master — that was Ophelia's choice. The first choice she had made after admitting that Remy had tamed her, at least a little bit.
Slowly, Ophelia opened her eyes again.
'If I am livestock, then you are a stud horse.'
The thought made her smile to herself in grim satisfaction. The role suited Remy perfectly — with her pride in her bloodlines and her love of horseback riding.
'And if you are human… then so am I.'
Perhaps it was the closest thing to her true feelings.
Does anyone remember the appearance scores for NNPCs, including villains ? I'm confused and trying to find the post I saw, but I've completely forgotten where I read it.
I want to hear other DoL fans' stories about their PC. I'd also like to imagine what it would have been like if my PC and the other PC lived in the same village.
I thought I developed a cow fetish because of Remy, but I found out that I actually started taking an interest in Remy because I already had a cow fetish.
