apparently it's whumptober, and even though i only want these girls to experience comfort, safety, and happiness...i totally need to share this whumpy yasammy au that has me in a chokehold:
✨ pain sharing soulmate au ✨
in other words you can feel your soulmates pain. in this au, all the events of the show stays the same. only difference? sammy discovers (quite painfully) that yaz is her soulmate after she messes up her ankle while escaping the mosasaurus. when sammy goes to thank yaz for saving her/the campers and she gets the cold shoulder, she decides to keep the soulmate thing to herself until she can repair their friendship.
like y'all. the possibilities for angst here is endless. sammy wanting to confess that she and yaz are soulmates, but chickening out because she's afraid that yaz might not want to be her friend anymore? check. yaz accidentally hurting herself and watching sammy flinch and play it off as if it's nothing? check. sammy doing everything she possibly can to not get hurt because she doesn't want yaz to feel any pain? check.
6 months go by and sammy still hasn't said anything about the whole soulmate thing to yaz. her crush on her best friend has only grown, but fear keeps her from confessing to yaz. sammy keeps telling herself that if she keeps herself from getting majorly hurt, then maybe everything will figure itself out...
enter the scorpios rex
imagine yaz suddenly feeling an immense pain in her side followed by a burning/tingling sensation throughout her limbs. imagine yaz watching sammy fall limp towards the jungle floor and feeling absolutely helpless. imagine that when brooklynn and yaz pulled the poisonous quills from sammy's side yaz let out a pained shriek along with sammy. but most importantly: imagine yaz realizing that her best friend is her soulmate and it might be too late to save her.
