Camp fam at the dentist headcanons bc I went today and was so brave

Darius:

• Using my autistic!Darius headcanon, he hates the dentist. Not the people themselves but going. The tools, the flossing, the fouride its all sensory hell. As a kid he wore earplugs to his appointments and got light sedation for anything more than a routine cleaning

• His parents were very supportive and instilled good dental hygiene in him so his appointments go smoother

• As an adult he treats himself with a sticker and soft safe food post appointment

Kenji: (tw med trauma and neglect)

• No one really bothered to teach him good brushing habits as a kid and he was given free reign with sugar so he got chronic cavities

• Was a cryer and biter due to his teeth constantly hurting and constantly had laughing gas

• The first time he got a filling without laughing gas he wasn't numbed enough and felt everything (samesies), making him terrified of dentists

• When he was adopted by the Bowmans he put off going to the dentist for a very long time, luckily Darius sat with him during his consultation and gave him some calming tools

• He got his wisdom teeth as well as a couple teeth pulled, had a panic attack after but for once his mouth didn't hurt

• Still not a fan but he is So Brave

Sammy

• Doesn't like dentists

• Had braces as a kid and although she stayed on top of brushing and flossing, her hygenist would still complain about having to clean her teeth (same)

• Dreaded going to the dentist until she got her braces off and was told her teeth were almost perfect

• As an adult she went through multiple dentists before finding one that was nice

• Plans something fun after her appointments to take her mind off of it

Yaz:

• Never had an issue with the dentist or her teeth

• Is the supportive buddy for rest of camp fam

Ben:

• Was super careful about brushing his teeth and flossing to prevent cavities and enjoyed the dentist as a kid

• After Nublar he was too depressed to brush his teeth or remember to floss and dentists just kept scolding him for it so he stopped going

• Post CC injury the others help him brush his teeth when he doesn't have the energy (I don't have any knowledge on going to the doctor with a mobility aid so if anyone wants to add anything itd be greatly appreciated

• Keeps a stockpile of the little goodie bags

Brooklyn (tw possible neglect?)

• As a child star traveling around the world she likely didn't get regular cleanings, was good at brushing and flossing though

• Her dads used Invisalign and whitening treatments to make her teeth look good which made them really weak and crowded

• She always cried when she got cleanings bc her teeth were so sensitive

• Ironically, her teeth got a chance to fix themselves on Nublar but her and Kenji definitely had the worst decay after coming home

• Now she has a bunch of reminders and alarms to schedule dentist appointments and takes one of the camp fam with her

I'm submitting evidence to the jury that Darius is a low-sugar kid.

Check his foods above: while the foods are obviously sparse on Nublar (boy loves his cheese puffs, Yaz throws one of those straight at him and he keeps it), once they're on Mantah Corp's facility, he has more options...and they ain't sugary.

Food in the cave? He's choosing the muffin. Food at breakfast? Eggs and bacon, leave the donuts to the others. The most sugary he gets is ice cream, and I'm sure there was some sugar-free stuff in the fridge.

"But the marshmallows--" yes, there's five people and they're roasting four marshmallows. Guess who's sitting out?

Now, maybe there's a food I'll come across that counters that, but, Darius did check the sugar content on the drink.

The only real contrarian point I can find is that he seems to go for what looks like an obscene mix of whipped cream and caramel at the end of Chaos Theory, but...

...they can make anything sugar-free these days. Or maybe it's part of a diet. I haven't had to maintain sugar levels in a diet, so I'm not clear on everything.

Kash didn't do any damage to that boy at all.

Mae is almost up and moving again, but she's not quite there; desperate to figure out a way to help Darius escape the island's new sentinels, the CampFam convinces Brooklynn to attempt hacking the robots.

Finding the BRAD-X too durable to bring down by force, the kids infiltrate the warehouse where the new fleet is being assembled. While Brooklynn attempts to solve the puzzle--to increasingly disappointing results--Ben checks on Darius and finds Kash sending the child to put a new chip in the Spinosaurus's head. The mission goes poorly, and Darius has to flee for his life...but cleverly finds a way to bring the dinosaur down using the remains of a smashed BRAD. Before the newer model can force him to chip the dinosaur, though, Brooklynn gains access to the unit and takes control. Darius informs them about the demonstration planned for six days from now.

This information isn't the only bombshell dropped on Brooklynn's head, as she also learns that Kenji has certain feelings for her. There is no time for her to process this: she has to use her new toy back up Darius's lies to Kash about today's work...but their efforts appear in vain, as the chip would not have worked anyway. Both Big Eatie and Pierce's chips have failed, too, and Kash decides to change targets for the next morning.

Darius makes it to the meeting spot at the designated time, but there's still no information to provide. Kash is making some sort of command code for the dinosaurs, he's working all the time, and he's being secretive.

Darius finds an opportunity to slip outside and meets up with his friends. He still doesn't have information on what Kash is doing, but he's sure that he can escape again in two nights.

The group agrees to meet up with Darius again every other night.

I’ve been watching camp cretaceous for the first time and I have definitely unlocked a new comfort show. the found family vibes are amazing and dinostar scratches my brain in a similar way that timebomb does. I finished season 3 tonight, so two more seasons to go and then the four seasons of chaos theory. so far, I am loving this show so much🦖⭐️
