Yaz having the most prominent trauma from swimming dinosaurs, the Mosasaurus in CC and then the Suchomimus in Chaos Theory, I'm surprised shes not more apprehensive about water.
Something I absolutely love about the CC/CT fandom is no matter where he is everyone knows Sean Giambrone(Ben's voice actor) because of how distinct it is and I just find that absolutely hysterical
The N6 having the Ankylosaurus as their mascot makes a lit if sense. Both from a comical perspective and from a storytelling perspective.
From a comical perspective having a dinosaur with insane armor makes sense because plot armor.
But from a deeper perspective having a dinosaur thats main feature is armor aka sonething that keeps it safe paired with children who have lost their feeling of safety is very symbolic.
But it also highlights the times bumpy wasnt there.
Bumpy wasnt there when Mitch and Tiff plotted to use the campers
Bumpy helped Ben defeat Toro and overcome his fears.
Bumpy wasnt there when Yaz developed her PTSD.
Ben questions his braveness when they leave Bumpy on Nublar.
Bumpy flees before The Long Run, prompting the kids to protect themselves.
Im just saying, Bumpy's proximity to the campers usually demonstrates how safe they feel or their mental state in various situations.
And I think thats ab interesting contrast to Chaos Theory where the campers dont rely on Bumpy at all for safety, its a nice parallel of them being older and lacking that safety blanket hat Bumpy provided in CC.
How would everyone feel about another Sad Yasammy Summer event this year?
Maybe with some tweeks, with more ships involved. I'm thinking having a Yasammy week, a Benji week, and then maybe having more ships have weeks and then maybe a Platonic ship week, different weekly themes with prompts to go with the week theme.

Everyone here is wearing black, some wearing drab greys, and a few with streaks of pink to honour her. It makes Darius want to destroy the entire room. This is not a funeral for Brooklynn Blake; this is a funeral for Brooklynn the international superstar. Her dads planned it, and, well, they don’t exactly know her. Not like the camp fam know her. They don’t know this isn’t what she would’ve ever wanted her funeral to be.

In early 2016, an ao3 fic that hasn't been updated in eight months is finally updated with the Authors note of:
"Hey, guys! Sorry it took so long to get to this update! I know I told yall my summer camp thing was only supposed to take a few weeks, but then Jurassic World (where the camp was) shut down cause of the Indominus Rex killing a bunch of people and me and my camp buddies got left behind and then stuck on the island for six months. But we're all okay now and home safe with our families! Yay us!"
Comments are filled with:
"What the fuck," and "is this real," and "holy shit dude, is author one of the fucking Nublar Six? That's so badass."
In solidarity (and due to embarrassed begging on the author's part), all Nublar Six post on their Instagram that the ao3 account is theirs, that way nobody can truly know who's it is. Ten years down the line, people still don't know, and every now and then, it'll be brought back up, especially when the ao3 account posts another story.

In 2023, we missed Jwcc so much that the fandom decided to pretend that a movie was coming out and made fake posts about it. It was our way of coping.
Sammy's life deteriorating after brooklynns death is actually horrible. Her family, friends, and girlfriend BARELY talk to her AND her best friend is dead. She overworked herself to pretend she had no problems, but in the end, it boiled over. Bumpy keeps escaping and breaking her neighbors fence, He starts threatening to report bumpy to the down, she cant seem to catch a break, Yaz doesnt text her back for weeks, no one really sends mail, yet she still makes sure EVERYONE gets a care package. That's who she is, she needs to take care of everyone. Her animals, her friends, her farm, everything. But it all seems to be falling apart in the end. She should just
i was asked to give some headcanons on yaz by a lovely commenter, so, for the sake of spreading some positivity, here are some of my levantine-informed hcs;
i've said before, but i quite like the idea of her mom's parents being fellaheen. in levantine culture, this is our equivalent to american red-necks. they're generally farmers/craftsmen who live on generational land and speak a slightly different dialect to the city. i like this idea because i love the idea of yaz being a little nervous to take her gf to lebanon only for her grandparents to absolutely adore sammy. she fits right in and is so excited to learn about indigenous goat farming and managing a citrus grove (two staple aspects of levantine farming).
yaz knows textile work! as an artist, yaz was raised with this common craft. traditional designs are very decorative and focus on natural patterns (flowers, mainly, but all nature) and abstract shapes. you can get some good ideas of patterns here.
yaz' mom would always light bakhoor before a beg event for yaz. the practice is one of those pre-islamic folk traditions that still remains. lighting the incense "cleanses evil" from around you. it's a specific kind of wood and oil that you light in what's generally an ornate, geometrically-decorated burner. there are a few different ways to do the ritual (just using it like an incense, circling it around someone's head, having someone step back and forth over it, etc.). i imagine it just being lit on the table while yaz studies/stretches.
yaz is from the south. i have literally no basis for this besides the fact i hc her mom as shii'te and that's a big shi'a area. what is a shi'ite? shi'a is the second largest branch of islam who split from sunnis in the succession crisis after muhammad's (pbuh) death. in the same way protestants and catholics have totally different "vibes", i get the shi'a vibe from the mother my friends and I talk about. i find shi'ites to be more cerebral in that they value education and curiosity a lot. and something about shi'a culture just breeds that "by any means" revolutionary spirit. you'll find that while the palestinian resistance is majority sunni, the shi'a forces are our biggest defenders (hezbollah, ansar allah, iran, etc.). however, i don't think yaz personally is religious and it's more of a "this is my culture" thing for her.
do you guys (non-arab) know who fairuz is? she's, like, the most famous singer of all time in the arab world. you'll never meet one of us who doesn't know fairuz. yaz knows fairuz. yaz loves fairuz. fairuz is on the playlist of her wedding to sammy.
speaking of sammy, they have 2 kids (SO foreshadowed by canon). in arab naming custom, your middle name is your dad's name (which showed lineage pre-colonalism). these kids have no dad. they solve this by alternating. their first child is given sammy's name and the second is given yasmina's name. this would really only be relevant in the context of traveling to lebanon (because who uses middle names in the west??) but they're taking those kids to lebanon. make no mistake. those kids love beruit and constantly ask to go back. they love going to the big malls and getting falafel wraps and eating fattoush.

It's really awesome that they made Soyona want Brooklynn so badly that it causes her to make glaringly stupid choices. She literally leaves Brooklynn alone with three of the four Atrociraptors, and the tool to control them, to make the demonstration video. Girl, that's your one defense for protecting yourself, and you gave it to a woman who you've tried to kill twice because she wanted to take out your entire operation.
And, to be clear, it is Soyona's laser pointer that Brooklynn is using. She doesn't get her own. Soyona takes it back in a later scene and puts it back on her wrist. That entire time, Soyona was completely defenseless because she left her one weapon with a woman who has several reasons to hold a grudge against her.
"Oh, my buyer wants a demonstration video? I don't want to do that myself, so I'll just trust my one safety net in the hands of my beautiful, incredible wife professional business associate. Sure, it means I'm completely powerless against her, but I don't see any reason she might turn on me. I only tried to kill her twice, and only one of those attempts permanently disfigured her. I'm a normal person with normal feelings about my employee, and I'm making good, smart choices with my unclouded judgement."
