I keep wanting to do things in 3d but at the same time i want to do something more tactile.

Drawing is tactile but I am struggling to show up for it, the yawning intimacy of my presence loiters like a dead weight.

I admire all the analogue glitch signal crew but I’m too old to fetishise that tech. Its just what i grew up watching films on, to begin to ape it would feel affected.

I’ve been enjoying some ipad sculpty time lately, this feels like the closest I have come to that ball of clay play I think I long for.

I was reading about In the Box music production this weekend and its something I can really relate to. As a long time after effects user, the computer isn’t necessarily a space I enjoy spending time. I have lots of ideas for 3d final look final renders I can see them in my minds eye, but the process involves hours, days interacting with sliders and menus, is our time not too finite?

I guess I’m an art director maybe, without anyone to direct, with a singular style, or maybe even a singular theme. I don’t know. I would just love to find a process I really really enjoy I think, to keep me coming back for it.

Top Artist, most listened to this year, is probably Psychemagik.

I need to admit I slept on psychemagik. Its good to admit when you’re wrong. A superpower really. I was, and often am.

When they emerged as a dj duo around the time I started this blog, I was mostly sick of nu disco, re edit culture, endless bootlegs and iffy represses, and I sadly, embarrassingly admit I lumped them in with that camp.

As I’ve fallen back in love with mixing records over the past couple of years, albeit now in my mid 40s and a lot less house focused, psychemagik are often the missing link for me.

Wether its through their own productions, canny edits, skyrager’s endless search for the nug, that generous spirit of sharing esoteric holy grails seems to pervade all.
