Happy fifth anniversary to the Dark Crystal Age of Resistance!!!
To celebrate I finally finished an old sketch of SkekLi the satirist from three years ago.

The WIP from 2021:
I rewatched The Dark Crystal recently
Okay look I have some FEELINGS about this scene.
Jen has been alone his whole life. Not counting the Mystics that raised him, but being the only Gelfling in existence after the Garthim Wars took his family and clan from him. He’s grown up thinking he was alone in the world, and would never find anyone like him because they were all gone.
Then he meets Kira, and you can see the surprise and joy on his face when he sees she’s a Gelfling like him. He’s not alone anymore. She’s brave, sweet, and has much to teach him about their kind and about their past. She encourages him to finish his quest to heal the Crystal, which he does after he witnesses the Skeksis murder her.
The only other Gelfling, and he watched her die in front of him. As he holds her while the Crystal heals and the urSkeks take their true form, Jen wonders if this was this all worth it. Was Kira’s life worth all of this? Now he is truly alone, as the only other Gelfling in existence is gone.
idk this scene just hits me in the feels because LOOK AT HOW SAD HE IS I mean he had just watched his love die before his eyes. He was even willing to give up the shard to protect her. Here, in this scene, Jen believes he’s failed. Failed to keep Kira safe. Now he is the last Gelfling and it’s his fault.
At first I was surprised that he even went through with healing the Crystal after she died, but at the same time maybe not, because he did it for her. She literally sacrificed herself to make sure the shard got to him; I think that was the only thing that kept him from, I don’t know, simply dropping the shard into the shaft below in defeat? Or anything else incredibly stupid. He did it because it was the last thing she told him to do, heal the Crystal.
His love for her was all he had left to save the world. After that? He literally couldn’t care less what was happening around him. A piece of Castle rubble could have fallen on top of him and honestly, it looks like he would have let it happen.
Okay, these two? Missed opportunity for a heated "who would win in a fight" discussion.
The stupidest yet most important thing I've done on Day One of Gold Road is roleplay Glarthir for several hours in the middle of Skingrad
ANOTHER GREAT CON-JUNCTION IS HAPPENING NEXT YEAR!! 💜💎✨
Okay, gotta pardon my persistent nerdiness (blame the raging ADHD), but this just really tickled me. Realized something after looking at the pretty pictures in the Ithelia/GR article posted today. Very vague story spoiler if you've watched Angel.
So, Ithelia.
Ithelia's wardrobe / Ithelia's story:
On which note, I have mixed feelings on this chapter story, but it did get me to feel legitimately bad for Jasmine & Connor. So there's that.
Courtyard (sort of) finished--wanted to make a push to finish the last couple rooms but I may be slightly burned out again. Just in general.
But, hotel is nearing the finish line.
On a mostly unrelated note, and absolutely jumping the gun on our likely next destination, Ell has moved on to the new winter clime ensemble.
Had put the hotel on backburner for a while, but back to making another push to get the thing finished before Yay for Housing month is over. Office came out nicely.
Just down to the courtyard + finishing touches on rooms and any leftover details. Huzzah for finding Youtube featurettes to aid in this endeavor 😁 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hHizwPondY
Can't stop won't stop. ❤️
I was going through my old screenshots and decided to have fun with this. Give us our bread boy back.

So um...I guess we get the Tamriel branch of WR&H now? Gonna leave my piece about the Gold Road story at that for now, except to say that it played out (to me) like the Q4 resolution to Necrom's Q2 story, which I guess it was originally intended to be. Take that as you will.
Things my sideways brain does to me in the middle of the night when I should be, say, sleeping... I never read the novelization. I really, really should. I'm gonna fix that.
Gotta get this one outta my system--So. Am very intrigued for this year's chapter--for me at least it's gonna be a step up from last no matter how you slice it.
With that, an observation I could not leave unsaid: I am 99% sure the story's (at least in part) playing off of the Buffy Season 9 comics (at least from the point Illyria shows up).
What is maddeningly unclear is precisely how much of it they're gonna use… Anyway. Hadda toss that out there.
Been thinkin' about this again...suspicions pretty much confirmed after Necrom and while they covered a lot of the plot, one thing was bugging me until right about now.
"So okay, they hit most of the plot beats from the last S9 arc, but there were no nods to the fact that the whole reason they had their little adventure was to save Dawn from going poof"
Wait a second.
Dawn. The Key. Who had the power to unlock portals between multiple dimensions, which very nearly tore apart reality in her debut season. And who in the comic was fading out of reality, fading out of everyone's memories, until at the end they were able to restore--
Sonofabitch.
apparently, reddit nuked the "meridia is a black hole" post. here's how I understand/remember this theory
meridia was once merid-nunda, a star orphan. black holes form when massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycle
massive objects (like black holes) create strong gravitational fields that curve and stretch the "fabric" of space-time. "… thus does Merid-Nunda [ride? slide?] across the rainbow road from end to end, at one end stretching the Dragon [Akatosh, the Time God], at the other end compressing him …. - Exegesis of Merid-Nunda
black holes can "bend" the light rays that pass close enough to them. this is how meridia created her colored rooms. "But Merid-Nunda formed of her substance a great drag-lens, and the light of Magnus was bent thereby. The rays [carved? focused?] a new sphere from the chaos, which Merid-Nunda, [laughing? sparkling?], did claim for her own." - Exegesis of Merid-Nunda
"For Meridia, time is said to be relative, and her priestesses have been known to grant time-altering blessing" - UESP just google "black holes time travel"
"the Daedra Lady of Greed" - UESP yeah, it's about her strong gravitational field
"To MERIDIA who contains the Plenum" - PGE. Plenum (physics), a space completely filled with matter. black holes are incredibly dense
meridia's light is not her own! if material such as gas, dust or stars gets too close to a black hole, it gets sucked in by the enormous gravitational force. as it falls towards the black hole, it heats up and becomes incredibly bright
meridia, you're not fooling anyone with your beams of light. we know it's your relativistic jets. stop LARPing as a sun/light goddess
Almost done with the reskin part of the hotel...from there it's just puttin' stuff in places where stuff goes. nb, this was a lot trickier than expected. Still, kind of a fun puzzle to figure out how to transform dark dreary castle into bright cheery hotel.
