My travel schedule has not left me much time to play trains lately but I took time this morning to grab this video of a kaolin train. The layout has evolved to a 16 by 8 bent dog bone. You can see my collection of locomotives and some rolling stock and a few projects lying around. I hope to get some permanent bench work fabricated this fall and add enough track to run several trains at once.

The layout has reached its second experimental phase at 16 by 8 feet. It's a big U that loops around itself now. This 36 unit train is lead by a dcc consist with 4 powered units trailed by a dummy. The mix of freight cars get help from the rear by another dcc unit and it is trailed by a dummy that provides enough dead weight to keep the pusher from going to strong. The pusher is needed as the two desks I am using as benches are not so level. Permeant supports are coming soon.

Accidents happen even in HO. A misaligned switch at a crossover sent this locomotive into a train parked on the mainline.

Testing all my engines over a problematic crossover. Lots of CSX heritage power from Seaboard System, Western Maryland, Chessie System and Family Lines make up the CSX lead consist.

Between sales calls I played trains while the housekeepers were upstairs doing their thing. Here's an interesting shot of mid 80's CSX merger power with a GE BQ23-7 waiting with an EMD power move as a mix of Chessie, L&N and SCL passes with various cars including one of my favorite TYCO cars a Western Maryland flat car with 3 dozer type tractors. I modified this car by adding Kadee couplers, metal wheels and about an ounce of extra weight. Bringing up the rear is a Chessie caboose that I have also slightly modifified. In the background you see an unknown SCL with a Conrail GP tied down with a few covered hoppers.

No real trains today but what would pay day be for if I didn't go out and get a few more toys. I added three new cars to the layout and the mailman brought me a new GP 40 wearing Western Maryland colors.
