Hey there when does the server reset take place today? Looking forward to getting a jump start!
Usually the updates are in the afternoon around 3-4PM EST, but it doesn’t look like an update is being released today. I waited until around 5:30PM before wiping the server.
Admins + 150 Slots
I’ve decided to hold off on upping the slots to 150 until I’ve brought on a couple of new admins. This should be happening by the next wipe.

I’m looking to appoint a couple of new admins to help fulfill the server’s needs. I intend on increasing the server slots to 150 this Thursday, and could use some help monitoring things on the server and making sure things are running smoothly. I have set a list of very strict rules for these admins to follow. The next wipe will be 3/17, and I may be appointing additional admins soon.
It will be a map and bp wipe. Also, I’ve recently set up the Clan Pay feature for the server. I’d like to increase the slot number, and if anyone is interested in donating directly to the server host to help with the cost, you can click here! Donations are not required, but are a huge help. I am also considering appointing some admins to help out on the server. The admins would, however, have a strict set of rules to follow. I haven’t decided what these rules would be yet, but I know for sure that one of the rules would be absolutely no raiding. You can pvp, but since you’ll have the ability to spectate players you will undoubtedly see the layout of everyone’s bases, making it completely unfair for an admin to raid.
Preferably anyone appointed admin should not be apart of any teams, because they may accidentally say something admin related in front of their trusted teammates and that could create some serious issues. It would be very abusive if an admin mentioned anything about players they were spectating or investigating for suspicious activity, in front of other players on the server. If the admins are solo players, this lessens the risk of giving away information. One of my biggest pet peeves is admin abuse. I don’t want any spawning items in for personal use or using the ability to fly, no-clip, or teleport outside of strict admin use only. These admins would help spectate suspicious activity, ban players when necessary, help players accordingly, monitor raids, etc. They would need to be willing to use the TeamSpeak regularly, and actively keep in touch with me.
It really makes me nervous to appoint additional admins on the server because admin abuse is so frequent and it only takes one corrupt admin to ruin the server’s reputation, and it may still be some time before I put up the official admin application, but I wanted to let you guys know in case anyone is interested. I’m also counting on you guys to help me monitor any newly appointed admins. When they spawn in items, it will appear in the in-game chat so if you guys ever see someone spawning in resources or weapons you’ll know they’re doing something they shouldn’t be. The only things I’ve ever had to spawn in to help players with are hammers and occasionally C4. Anyone caught abusing their privileges will not only lose their admin abilities, but will also be permanently banned from the server.

I have some great news!
My PC issues have finally been resolved as of today. I’ll be able to run the kill feed full time again, and you’ll be seeing me a lot more in-game now that my computer isn’t crashing constantly.

Admin.. you can up the server slots or rates.. but the reality is, a big group may have aided in killing the server, but you as an admin aren't the best. If you plan on having a server, plan on taking care of it in regards to making sure it's up after updates. FFS.
Hello Anonymous, and thank you for your input!
People didn’t leave the server because of me (except maybe Spectre’s guys?), and I’m not adjusting the server slots or rates because the server is dead. First off, it’s not dead. It has the same fluctuating population it has always had. As soon as the server was updated and wiped, 40+ players joined. Many of which are veterans of Rustic Rivalry. Secondly, you’d be surprised how many players keep coming back after each server wipe because they like me as an admin or enjoy the server’s community. Despite my inactivity and quirks, a lot of players realize that I am as honest and fair as they come, and it’s rather quite easy to get in touch with me regarding the server.
I have a lot of things in mind for the future of the server, and I’ve been getting a lot of feedback from the players who use the RR TeamSpeak. Changes are coming in the near future.
The updates are literally the only thing I have trouble managing sometimes, and that’s because I work. The updates are usually on Thursday afternoons when I am not at my computer or in a position to update the server as soon as the update goes live. And if there happens to be an unannounced patch in the middle of the night, you’re probably not going to see it updated until I wake up in the morning and find out that there was an unannounced patch, like the one we just had yesterday. I didn’t have to work Friday, but I used the day off to take my car back to the dealership for some serious issues I was experiencing. I was gone all morning until sometime in the afternoon, and during that time, the server was down. Again, my real life responsibilities take priority over Rust.
So shoot me for it. The only reason I’m able to pay for this server every month is because of my job, and I only run the server because I enjoy the game and I want to provide a fun place for my friends to play where admins aren’t abusing their power. The server was never intended to be a big thing to begin with. Regardless, what the heck do you guys expect me to do? I can’t always be online, and if I were to appoint additional server admins, they wouldn’t have access to the server’s control panel right off the bat so the community would still have to deal with delayed server updates on most Thursdays. I can’t just quit my job… It’s not like I’m neglecting my job as an admin by intentionally not updating the server. I’m just not always able to update right away if I’m at work on a Thursday afternoon. Trust me when I say patch days stress the hell out of me because I know how frustrating it is to want to log on asap after an update to get ahead of the curve.
Anyway, the adjustments to the server slots and/or rates are not to revive a dead server. They’re just some ideas I had recently, along with several other ideas I’ve been working on. I was thinking perhaps an increased respawn rate or gather rate would make things slightly faster paced, and perhaps players would be more willing to rebuild after they get raided if the resources are easier to come by. Smaller groups and solo players would be able to build up a little quicker. I realize that the larger groups would also have this advantage, and would still be able to stockpile raiding resources, but maybe it’ll work out with the smaller groups being able to fortify their bases quicker. It doesn’t hurt to at least experiment on the next wipe and see how the community feels about the adjustments.
I don’t pretend to be the most active admin, but I do take care of my server when I have the availability to do so. I’m sorry that my real life responsibilities prevent me from updating the server right away. If you can’t wait a few more hours on Thursday to log on, there are hundreds of other servers you can play on. No one is forcing you to stay on Rustic Rivalry. I just think the expectations are a little high sometimes. Cut me some slack. I’m an adult with a full time job, and it’s just not realistic for me to be online at all times. There are plenty of servers out there with admins who have more free time to devote to their servers. Unfortunately RR's admin is not one of them.
I’m just a real person with a real life. If I won the lottery, maybe then I could sit at home all day and run the server. :D Maybe I should start taking donations. You guys can pay me to quit my job and monitor the server 24/7.
Increasing server slots and map size!
So the next wipe WILL be a blueprint wipe, and I’ll be increasing the server slot size to 150. With the addition of 50 more slots, I also intend on returning the map size to 4k. I may even make adjustments to the server’s respawn rate or harvest rate, but I still wish to keep the server as close to vanilla as possible so the adjustments will be minor for the convenience of the community.

Apparently an unexpected patch was released sometime in the night. Anyone who had updated their client wasn’t able to connect to the server. I wasn’t able to resolve the issue immediately because I had an appointment on my day off to take my car back to the dealership, but everything should be running smoothly now. If any more problems arise, please let me know.
Server down AGAIN!?!
This is the second or third time in a week that the server has gone down. I'm terribly sorry about this guys. I have contacted the server host and I’m waiting for a response.

Talerian’s accusations.
A player named Talerian was recently banned from the server. He has decided to go around messaging players from the server claiming that the admin is corrupt. If you get any random friend requests from this player, beware. He is just out to shame me because he’s upset. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
