Just learned about the new DST ARG that finished recently and there’s a ton of lore that I had no idea about till now. This info does confirm some things though, namely that when someone arrives in the Constant doesn’t at all correlate with when they are taken in the real world. When someone is taken they are displaced in both space and time.
Cause of this and the other info I wanna make an updated timeline of events. This’ll be long so look in the read more.
1901
July 26
William Carter departs from Liverpool, England, to New York City, USA.
1901-1904
William unsuccessfully runs his magic show in New York. Becomes indebted to George T. Witherspoon. Discovers the Codex Umbra.
1903
November 11
Wendy and Abigail Carter are born.
1904
August 15
William purchases a train ticket to travel from New York to San Francisco, California.
August 22
(The newspaper is from August 23rd, but I’m assuming the incident occurred the day prior.)
William’s train collides with a circus wagon that had broken down on the tracks, somewhere near North Fork, Nevada. William is trapped under the wreckage of the train car. Wolfgang, a strongman from the circus, spots him and attempts to lift the train car to assist. William uses the power of the Codex Umbra to enhance Wolfgang’s strength and allow him to lift the car all on his own, freeing William. William flees the scene after being freed and is announced missing, then presumed dead due to the remote location and desert environment.
William writes a postcard to his brother, Jack, assuring that he survived, but it is unknown if this was ever sent.
1905
William rebrands as Maxwell the Great. Experiments with the Codex Umbra, has first encounter with a Terrorbeak.
June 6
Maxwell places an ad for an assistant for his show. Charlie presumably takes the job shortly afterwards.
1906
Charlie visits Maxwell after not hearing from him in days, and discovers his secret study where he performs his experiments with the Codex Umbra. Runs in fright but later sends him a letter suggesting they take a break after the final show.
April 18
The Final Performance. Maxwell and Charlie are pulled into the Constant. The 1906 San Fransisco earthquake occurs, and is implied to be caused by this incident in universe. Robert Wagstaff investigates the immediate aftermath and steals the projector that had been recording the performance. Wagstaff discovers the existence of the Constant.
Date Unknown
Wigfrid is seen reading the newspaper headlining the disaster. She is taken after this. Likely not discovered for some time.
1910
April 23- November 1
The Brussels International Exposition (or The Exposition Universelle). Wagstaff appears at the Exposition.
1911
March 29
Wickerbottom’s library in New York burns down. Wickerbottom is taken amidst the blaze. The fire is the result of arson by Willow.
1913-1914
Abigail dies, likely either late 1913 or early 1914.
1914
April 16
Wendy writes in her diary that she hears odd music in her dreams, implied to be Maxwell’s ragtime. She is presumably taken into the Constant shortly afterwards.
1906-1919
Most survivors are taken in this timeframe, with no confirmed dates. Woodie is confirmed taken prior to 1919. Witherstone is attempted to be taken, only for Wes to be taken instead. Wagstaff founds Voxola Radio Company.
1919
Winona is employed at the Voxola factory in Sidney, Ohio. Wagstaff experiments with portals.
After an experiment fails, a malfunction caused by Wagstaff causes the portal to reactivate and start a fire that destroys the factory. Winona attempts to pull Wagstaff out of the portal, but fails. Wagstaff reappears safely out of the portal it was originally connected too, in a nearby bunker with WX-78’s human form. (This character does not have a canon name, but will be referred to as Woodrow.)
Winona is unaware of Wagstaff’s fate, and attempts to rebuild the portal to rescue him. Connects to the Constant and is confronted by Charlie. She attempts to pull her out, only to be dragged into the Constant herself.
1919-1921
Wagstaff and Woodrow investigate the factory ruins and discover rose petals, presumably left by Charlie. They have some sort of purple aura/magic. Wagstaff uses these to connect to the Constant via projector.
(Theory, unconfirmed date)
Wagstaff delivers a Constant spider to Webber’s father. The spider has the same sort of purple electricity sparking around it. Webber releases the spider, and is eaten by it. The two are fused into one being. Webber is taken by Maxwell.
Woodrow begins work on their robot project. Wagstaff assists after hitting a dead end. Woodrow transfers consciousness/controls remotely?? WX-78. Woodrow’s old body remains alive with the use of some weird IV drip.
WX continues work on their robots, building more. They get into a disagreement with Wagstaff. WX is sent into the Constant via the portal. Woodrow remains connected to them and alive in the real world.
Wagstaff uses the projector to continue meddling with the Constant. Is eventually taken in for real by the Celestial Scion. Woodrow dies without care. WX-78 is unaffected.
1921
Wilson P. Higgsbury purchases an abandoned home, previously belonging to Wagstaff. Wilson discovers his lab in the attic and begins his own projects. Is contacted by Maxwell and instructed on building his own portal. Wilson is taken into the Constant.
