Rhela'vhen has been on a journey, ever since she graced the world with her presence.
A journey of finding not only the courage to do what is necessary, but also the courage to find herself and look deep within.
This journey has brought friends, found new family, healing..
And also laughter, knowledge and revelations.
The road has always been perilous, on the edge. There was no time for second thoughts or doubts. The urgency of the world around bled into every decision and every step taken.
Sometimes, every heartbeat felt like the last one. Heartbreak has left in its wake a more resilient soul, and shattered fragments of what could have been. What could still be.
But each step will bring her closer to completion.
The night is long
And the path is dark
Look to the sky
For one day soon
The dawn will come.
I've been very fortunate to have a positive experience on Tumblr since joining just before DAV came out. I've been a DA fan for 14/15 years but never engaged in fandom till then. I had one goal - cultivate a space of respect, joy for creation and open-minded engagement. A byproduct of that goal has resulted in a wonderful community that is joyful to engage with.
This blog just hit 700 followers and while it's not what I came here for, it's very, I don't know what the word is. Humbling? Crazy? I don't know but it makes me grateful.
So, the gift. If you would humour me - I'd like to offer some creative writing. I'm not an artist where I can offer you a beautiful sketch, but what I have is writing.
Writing Giveaway
The winner will get some form of creative writing - a short fic (minimum of 1000 words), codex creations, meta of a topic of your choice, even screenshots/gifs of your OC with something written (see here for example). Winner's choice!

Comment on this post with your favourite DAI character and why
In order to write creatively I need to write about what I love, so for this gift I will focus on Dragon Age Inquisition - my favourite DA game. I offer to write:
Any Dragon Age Inquisition companion/character and relationship - either friendships or ships (taking place during DAI, Trespasser or DAV)
Solavellan
Anything Solas (i.e Solas/Inquisitor ships in general)
Ancient Arlathan setting/Evanuris
The winner will be randomly picked on June 15, 2026.
(For the winner I'll have a few more guides around what I'm not comfortable writing about but for now, this is what's important.)
Guys! GUYS! Lore is one of the most amazing human beings I've ever come across. She writes BEAUTIFULLY and is insanely talented. Congrats on your milestone, so happy for you @vhen-harel ! 🫂❤️
Give her a follow if you haven't already and you won't regret it!
Eyes locked on hers, he half smiled, the other half like her own expression was something else, something still fearful and unsure.
“As soon as I begin to feel certain, you change everything again,” he whispered.
“Sorry.” She smiled again, this one less tainted than the last.
This is it! The illustration I promised! We finally made it to Part 17 and maybe my favorite line I've ever written for these two along with this wonderful illustration I commissioned by @ruxandralache ! I absolutely adore it and I can't wait for you all to read the new chapter on Monday (6/15)! I will say that some of you are going to be very pleased 😏

Joined in on another Sunday draw-along with @thehangedmancreatives and this picture started out very different. Then while I was looking through my screenshots for references I had an epiphany and this was born. Sort of an examination of "what if Solas won-- at what cost?" and "what if he became what he hated/fought against?" (and 'what if bringing down the veil only broke things more')
Stayed up late to finish it and upon waking up realized I forgot to tint the final layers around the throne (meant to have it match the wolves a bit better) but eh, still very happy with how it came out. I hope I never paint another mosaic again though. That throne was miserable to do lol. (also bonus eyebrow waggles to whoever can guess what I referenced from the game for the initial design of the throne arms. Actually I'm quite proud of the design in general.)

I commissioned this piece from the unbelievably talented Hotwe, who is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful, deliberate artists I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I cannot express how grateful I am for the kindness shown towards my imaginary dolls at every step of this process. Thank you! <3
This is a paired piece to this one, also by Hotwe, which I commissioned immediately after finishing Inquisition for the first time. Once I finished Veilguard and filled out how the story ends for these two, I knew I desperately wanted the other half of this diptych.
Close-ups and lengthy notes on the incorporated symbolism are below the cut.
Where the first piece was much more somber and determined, I really wanted this moment to feel triumphant (if not unreservedly happy). These are two people at the end of a long war with each other, and moving forward doesn't mean erasing the road before.
Some notes in no particular order:
Solas's hands are now open, releasing the hard and inflexible grip he had in the original piece
The constellation is Fervenial, the Oak, for its associated concept of Vir Tanadhal: "fly straight and don't waver, bend but never break, and the idea of balance. ...The imagery of the hunter (Adahla) metaphorically striking like a bolt on Solas' plans and forcing a reframing of the lightning/smite-y/fate concept of Fulmenos into a concept of balance and growth/organic/spring" - straight from the artist's massive brain
(I've written about why constellations & stars, especially Fulmenos, are important to them here)
Red embrium leaves for healing
Spring growth for seasonal change
Solas, being pushed forward by the strong wind behind him, is finally able to stop thanks to Adahla's pressure
Adahla's dress is inspired by this statue (San Joaquín, Santa Ana y la Virgen Niña by Juan Alonso Villabrille y Ron), but has been reworked with Dragon Age motifs and emblems
The gold vines are from my post-Veilguard fic for them, The Heart Where I Have Roots
I plan to do one more post with both of these pieces together as soon as I can; their journey's been messy to the max, but it honestly brings me so much joy to know they've landed somewhere like this, and I'm again so thankful to Hotwe for bringing that ended war to life.
So I had this idea for the Fade Prison server, with a group shot of the Lavellans there, and this is the result. 😅 this was such a fun challenge for me! I absolutely loved it. And look at all these amazing ladies and gentleman ( Ilmare in the lower right corner).
And just for fun, a wild Solas appeared 🤣
Can you spot all the Easter eggs in this? 🫢🤣
