09: Something that frightens your character
On a strictly physical level, Lenora is terrified of small spaces. Bitch has an intense case of claustrophobia, rooted in when she was little and demonstrated accidental magic. She wound up in the crawl space of the family’s home for a fifteen minutes before getting herself out, and it’s fucked her up ever since.
09: Something that frightens your character
The idea of failing. More specifically, Lenora is terrified that she’ll be unable to make it on her own, be it in her lifestyle or her career, after all of the hard work she put in to being able to cut off ties with her family. Beyond that, she’s afraid that she’ll end up falling flat and then word will get back to her parents. She can just imagine the level of smugness that would give them.
oliverfranklongbottom:
Mr. Oddpick, the owner of Flourish & Blotts, had left Oliver in charge of closing up the shop, which were the nights Oliver looked forward to most. Although he admired Mr. Oddpick and didn’t mind his company, the idea of being forced to make small talk after working eight to twelve hour days made Oliver physically ill.
After organizing all the returned textbooks in the back, ready to be restocked tomorrow morning, and sweeping the floors, Oliver turned the sign on the door around to read, “CLOSED,” tucked the keys into his jacket pocket, and made his way down the clearing streets of Diagon Alley.
He could have easily disapparated from the front of the shop and apparated in front of his flat, but the evening glow surrounding the shops beckoned for Oliver to take one of his rare strolls.
Passing Florean Fortescue’s, he was tempted to grab a quick bite of ice cream, but decided against it, reminding himself he needed to be saving every galleon he could during these unpredictable times. But as he passed the last table outside the ice cream parlour, he recognized a familiar face sitting by themselves.
“Ruining our dinner, are we?” Oliver asked, debating internally whether to sit across from them or not. @inomniahqstarters
So Lenora was unhappy. In similarly shocking news, grass is green and water is wet. She’d fought with her sister in the middle of a national crisis, all anyone at work could talk about was the dark mark in the sky, and she’d ran out of her favorite nude lipstick that morning. All in all, her mood was fouler than normal, and all she had wanted was to treat herself, calories be damned. So when she was interrupted by a former classmate, she was less than amused. “Half the population thinks the world is ending and the other half probably wishes it was, Longbottom. May as well enjoy the ride on this road to ruin.”
👨👩👦 For both sisters
How does your muse feact/feel whenthey see their family (specify if desired)
Lenora hasn’t seen hide nor hair of her sisters since she left their family years ago, up until she ran into Ivy during the whole dark mark incident. That left her bitter, knowing that Ivy’s current state (married to someone of their parents’ choosing, existing solely to be a trophy wife and bear stupid children) is exactly where she would have wound up otherwise. There’s also some misplaced anger. Lenora knows how hard it was for her to get out from under their family’s thumb, but she still did it. Ivy is smart, so Lenora had expected her to follow suit rather than be so complacent. Then of course, there’s all of Lenora’s guilt. If she hadn’t left when she did, maybe she could have helped Ivy. But there isn’t anything she can do about the past now.
With Elara, when/if Lenora sees her again, there’ll still be guilt, but of a different sort. She knows that Elara is way more sensitive than she could have ever been, and even though she’s nineteen now, she’s still a little kid in Lenora’s mind. It makes Lenora more sad than angry to know that Elara is still in their parents’ world. Really though, given Elara’s nature and the fact that she had both Ivy as an example and Lenora as a warning before her, she can’t have expected her baby sister to have done much else. Lenora isn’t sure how she’ll react when she sees her again, but she can hope that she’s able to reel in the anger and scathing remarks that are her go-to responses under stress. She doesn’t know if she could stand to hurt Elara like that.
