“you have to learn to produce, i guess! make your future group the first!” she encouraged with a laugh. “or convince jett sunbaenim. but that seems harder to me.”
“i’ll work on it, but i’d be scared to put anything out there. i don’t want to be the bargain bin nathan,” he admitted with a little laugh. “jett’s a lot nicer than people expect. it’s worth an ask!”
rverii:
“it’s been a long, long time. like, six years,” she agreed, smiling and staring. “oh, i’m at siren ent now! i was one of their first trainees, actually. i came to watch mirae– she’s going to be in my future group,” erii explained. “i’ve been watching the show; you’re really impressive.”
“six years...” he repeated in awe. he didn’t realize he’d been a trainee for so long. “it’s great seeing you again....” he smiled. “mirae is really great, isn’t she? are you guys slated to debut soon?” he blushed, rubbing the back of his neck. “i...that means a lot, thank you. i’ve been working hard.”
rveunyeol:
“I figured that might’ve been the case, but you never really know for sure unless you ask,” Eli said. That’s how they looked at it, anyway. Any knowledge helped them out. “I hope so… I’m willing to put in the effort, at least. I want to see try and see this thing through, even if I don’t get far in the end.”
“well, you have the work ethic-- that’s good. i might not be a ton of help in the dance department, but hyunjoo and minsuk are both great dancers, and they’ve both done this before too-- i bet they’d be willing to help.”
inho didn’t like to cry. and he especially didn’t want other people to see him cry. but ilhoon was one of his best friends– inho genuinely saw the other man as an older brother. seeing him get eliminated was emotional, and even though hyunjoo and minsuk were right there, it still felt like inho was getting left all alone.
the teenager approached his future leader and pulled him into a hug, sniffling. “i’m sorry. you should be going to the next round, not me. you fit this concept and stuff way better….” @rvxilhoon
ilhoon smiled, hugging inho back tightly and rubbing the kid on the back. he was a little sad to be leaving, but he was proud of what he’d done so far. and he was proud of his boys for making it to the next level. “hey, shh,” he soothed. “it’s okay! it’s my time to go, okay? i’ve done so much already, don’t feel bad for me. you worked hard for this too.”

she’d had a long, hard journey, but she’d finally struck gold with siren. or at least she thought so. this was the closest she’d ever been to a debut, and it meant a lot to her. sure, there was no clear debut date for midnite yet, but the fact that they had a name and were rehearsing together, just the four of them…. it meant something big.
she’d been in the idol project audience to support mirae, and to a lesser extent yihwa as well. she’d seen him onstage. and now, running into him like this, it was more than clear. “i– ilhoon?” she asked, eyes searching his face. “i’m fine, are you okay? i……..ilhoon?”
“yeah, i’m fine-- it was just a little bump,” he insisted, smiling and getting a better look at her. “it’s been forever,” he said, shaking his head. “how have you been? where’d you end up? what brings you here?”

“i feel like stylistically you guys really could have killed something like uh oh or lion,’ hoa agreed emphatically. “and what better way to show off someone like inho’s chops? not that sam isn’t great, but i personally think sookie is a trailblazer…”
“oh, dude, i’m always so mad. girl groups have done some killer 90s aesthetic songs in the past few years. uh oh, but also merci’s lady too. boy groups never do that shit. i would have loved to do that song for audition. what a waste.”
rveunyeol:
“That came off way more defensive than I thought–I know you aren’t trying to clown or anything, I’m just trying to say that I’m not… out of touch with the situation, I guess? I know we’re in deep but I don’t want to get hung up on it too much,” Eli said, rubbing their head. “I can do that.”
“that’s understandable. i guess i just got worried when i heard your question, you know?” ilhoon replied. “like..... there’s no easy way to learn how to be good at picking up choreography. and having to learn those skills on the fly.. it’s rough. but if you focus i’m sure you’ve got it.”
rveunyeol:
“I have plenty of dance experience. Not good, and not professional but it’s still experience. Just not the same as yours,” Eli replied, then sighing. “Listen, I’m aware of how unfair it is. It’s still the best shot I’ve got, though, so I’d rather try to make the most of it than just acting like I’m doomed. Maybe I’m a clown because of it, but I don’t really care.”
“hey, man, i really don’t want it to seem like i’m just like...clowning on you or something. for real, that wasn’t my intent,” ilhoon quickly said earnestly, walking it back. he felt bad. he didn’t want this guy to feel doomed. “i guess i thought i was more...commiserating. and it is a real pinch of a situation. but really, there’s no shortcut here-- there’s no tips i can give you on choreo beyond just....do it, and do it a lot.”
his eyes went wide the moment he bumped into her-- partially because he felt bad for running into her, but mostly because he recognized her in an instant. how could he not? they’d never talked when they were radioactive trainees, but he’d known her. everyone had known her. almost every male trainee had had a crush on her-- ilhoon included. “i.... are you alright?” he asked first, checking her for signs of any sort of pain. “it’s.... erii, right?” @haenarv
rveunyeol:
“That’s a while,” Eli stated. “I don’t think they’re stupid. There’s no better experience than getting out and doing the thing, no? It’s like… testing how well we work under pressure.”
“yeah, well, there’s a reason i went out there and was told i seem too old to be a rookie,” ilhoon sighed. it was partly due to his age, but his demeanor too. he had the aura of someone who’d been around the block a few times. “i mean... that’s generous. i think if they put like... you on a show like mr trot or something, that’d be the case. but you, from what i know, have literally no dance experience. and it’s super unlikely that the group you’ll debut in will require choreography. especially not to idol project’s extend. it’s not fair to you guys.”
“you know, i haven’t ever dressed particularly masculine before. i didn’t think it would suit me, but i kind of like it,” hoa admitted, looking at her outfit for the idol project audition stage. “the suspenders are really fun…”
“i can’t wait to see what you guys do,” ilhoon said with a smile. “it’s way less exciting to do this legacy song. i love legacy, but basically all higher trainees do is practice legacy songs. it would have been a cool curveball to have to do a rejectz song or something.”
“Okay, I have never practiced dancing so long in my entire life,” Eli admitted. They danced every now and again, but it was for fun and not anything serious. Idol Project prep was a whole different beast. “I’m going to get used to it, I have to–but seriously, I don’t know how y’all keep it up. Tell me your secrets.”
“well...i mean, i’ve been a trainee since radioactive was still a thing, so....that probably has a lot to do with it,” he admitted. “liberty is stupid, though-- they really threw you all off the deep end. especially considering a lot of you don’t have any dance experience.”
