alas-divinas:
She was worried her friends would lie to her to spare her feelings? Dove supposed that was a valid concern. After all, she didn’t know this woman. She could have any sort of reaction to an unwanted truth that her comrades wouldn’t want to bear the brunt of. It was fair enough that Dove had no investment in the blonde’s predicament but that also didn’t mean she had any particular desire to be involved…
Hesitantly, the offered magazine was taken as she followed the instructions to the page that had caused this whole mess. “…It’s true that humans have much more restrictions in a literal flesh and blood body but… I’ve seen enough hearts to know that hollow have them… physically at least. I trust it would be safe to say the same of shinigami?” Whether or not this article could be applied to any of them, Dove honestly couldn’t say she knew the answer. Maybe she could just find some words of reassurance to offer that wouldn’t require her to just stare at her chest.
“I have a –…close friend who has a figure very similar to yours. If this magazine’s claim is correct, it’s not enough to be noticeable. I don’t believe this is something to worry over.”
Undoubtedly, if she were to ask any of the other women in the gotei 13 if they had any particular feelings towards her plight, and they would surely give her the answer that they thought was best. Friends were supposed to be supportive of one another after all, but there was a certain extent to this that was always hard to cross.
Seemingly either unnoticing or uncaring of the arrancar’s...discomfort to her question, Rangiku folded her hands behind her back as they walked, trying hard not to be messing with herself in public. It didn’t take long for her companion to respond to the lieutenant’s musings and the blonde gave a soft hum and a nod of agreement. She supposed they did have hearts...didn’t they? Or were their bodies simply reiatsu with enough of their memories to know that they should bleed when cut and should die when struck down? The existential road that train of thought led down was much too mind-numbing for Rangiku to tackle at the moment and so she simply leaned towards the assumption that, yes, she did have a heart and so that would account for the difference in sizes. “I suppose so. It’s an odd thing to think about though,” she hummed, veering off into her own thoughts for a couple seconds.
“Oh really? Then I pity her poor back,” she said with a small shake of her head, a woeful tone to her lilting tones. “Is she an arrancar too? And here in the city?” She asked kindly, allowing the conversation to fall away from their previous train of thought. “I’m Matsumoto, by the way, Rangiku Matusmoto,” she added after a moment, realizing that she had never properly introduced herself. Silly her.
