just came across a comparison post of verso with his scars/weathered down look vs without and it really hit me that he has been forced to survive in his own canvas that was once a playground

no wonder little verso wanted to quit painting. his mom and dad basically created a death dungeon of grief

This is making me ill the way his eyes go to the hand and then up all wide and blue like a little boy, like he just does not know what to do here. I don’t care how much the animators for the facial movements are paid, it isn’t enough. I’m so used to console games doing that faux-realistic style that feels so stiff, where every character’s face looks plastic and you can’t relate to them even if the writing is perfect during an emotional scene. This game just has so much life in every movement, it looks like a painting come to life— not just another formulaic marketing scheme, but real art with real emotion. “Family is complicated.” Oh Verso my boy. My baby.

Verso can’t make eye contact with Renoir.

When Renoir is talking to him in this scene, Verso looks up, down, and to the side, but he never actually meets Renoir’s gaze. He comes close to actually looking at him at the end, but it’s more like he’s looking past him than at him.

Here, as soon as Renoir turns to look at Verso, Verso looks away.

Renoir is walking up to him, but Verso still doesn’t look at him. He looks at the ground or to the side. When Renoir gets directly in front of him, it once again looks like Verso is looking past him. He’s faced in Renoir’s general direction, but his eyes aren’t focused on him.

it's not the waking, it's the rising

nina cried power piece inspired by @hozier 🤍

this took me MONTHS. i lost motivation at first, i started it in august and was super inspired to do it then, but after moving it was hard to pick up the pencil. in that, i had started a few of the portraits, but when i put this piece down for a few months and came back to it, i had improved, so i redid pretty much all of them. i think i was also initially scared to do this piece because of how ambitious it was, i didnt have an idea on how to make it flow together, i was just creating. which honestly was a lot more freeing than i thought it was going to be.

i wanted to do this in light of recent events and the state of the country at the moment, the general unease that feels like we're all standing at the edge of something huge but we're all afraid to fall. its now that our voices matter—they always did, and do—to speak up and use those voices against violence, inequality, unrest. to be silent is to be complicit. dont let the cycle repeat itself. do everything you can, speak up, inform, vote, call your senators. there's always hope. we will get through this, but not without hard work and dedication
