This was a Christmas Gift that i just hoped i would receive- and i did- it is a stunning overview of the oft-overlooked storyboarder’s craft. Particular mention has to go to Saul Bass (featured on the cover) and the wonderful detail gone into by these guys. Highly Recommended.

Davis Baskets. Mack’s Creek, MO // July-28-2018 Davis Baskets was opened in 1947 by Delmar Davis—after his time serving in the military during WWII—and he has been operating it for over 70 years. It was the type of highway business that littered the newly formed roadway of its day but now are rarely seen. The 90 year old shop owner is now ready to close the doors on this historic Ozark location. Gay Parita, MO. Established 1934 // My daughter and I took a day trip today to take photos, like we often do. I decided to drive—with no real plans-towards Carthage Missouri and figured we would find something along the way. Somewhere between home and Carthage we saw a sign for a local fishing area and decided close to the water would be a good a place as any to take some picture. Well, we never found water but we did stumble upon a beautiful vintage Gas station and tourist stop right off Route 66. The owner and operator, a middle aged man with long hair, beard and a cigarette planted firmly between his teeth sat outside the gift shop. My daughter and I approached him, introduced ourselves, and asked if it was ok to take pictures. “Oh absolutely man. That’s what the place is for. For people to enjoy.” He couldn’t have been more accommodating. After my daughter and I took in the place for a good 30 minutes we said our goodbyes and thanked him for letting us look around. “Where you off to after this?” “I don’t really know. Just out taking pictures.” I answered. “If you head that direction,” he pointed off towards the opposite direction from which we had come, “you’ll cross an old metal bridge. Route 66 keeps going and it’ll bring you to the ghost town of Spencer. It’s a pretty good place to take pictures.
