@ryan-mckinnon
Mind lending yours then?
You wouldn’t hit me, Ryan. You’re better than that… Well then. Sorry for being concerned. And what? Are the streets of London off the market in terms of where one is allowed to walk all of a sudden?
No, I'm good.
Sometimes. Right now I really feel like punching you for some reason. Really? Because right about now, the train for Howgarts left Platform nine and three quarters about seventeen days ago. Weren't you suppose to be on it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ll punch them next time. Make a note of it. Mark it on my calender. It will be celebratory.
First of all, it was sarcasm. Secondly, for your information, it was meant to be an insult anyway. So good judgement on your part. But honestly, what’s got your broom up your arse this time?
Just don't forget it. Might want to write it on forehead as well.
Don't use that insult again or you'll be more worried about my fist than my words. None of yer bloody business, Kat. Why're you down here anyway?
Oh, how silly of me. I must have forgotten that little unofficial code of conduct… Next time I’ll just allow her to get manhandled or worse because it’s simply not my place. It’s a good thing I have you around, Rye. Or else I might do something drastic… like protect someone from a series of very unfortunate events. [She’s being a total smart ass, mind you, but still making sure her point is proven.]
If you were paying attention to anything that just happened, you would know that I didn’t pull my wand out. I smacked his hand down with my own. And disregarded the perfect opportunity to break his nose and a few other unmentionable body parts… Honestly, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say I was the blood traitor and you were the pureblood.
That's not what I meant, Catherine. And you know it too. It looked like you had from the angle I was watching everything happen. Next time punch them, I know you have a good punch.
It lo-- I am a pureblood and I am the bloodtraitor. I'm not like you guys who believe that purebloods are the higher ranks. I don't want to hear that again.
[With an exasperated roll of her eyes, Kat twisted her wrist out of his grip but didn’t move to continue walking any further.] And pray tell, dear cousin, why it was uncalled for? She was clearly uncomfortable and he was staring at her as if she was nothing more than a piece of meat. I could’ve hexed him where he stood, but I didn’t. I could’ve beat him senseless, but I didn’t. Instead, I smacked his paper of information away. How bloody dare I. [clearly being sarcastic]
Because it's not our right to meddle in other peoples business. I think you forget that sometimes. Or maybe I don't and you just tend to put yourself out there. I mean really? Drawing your wand in front of muggles? Use your head, Kat.
NO. She does not want your phone number, your fax number, or the room number of the place you’re currently residing! Don’t you get it?! She doesn’t want you so leave her be! BLOODY MUGGLES!
Oi, Kat! Ryan quickly walked up to his cousin as he heard her voice from the next block, snatching her wrist. Stop it. That's uncalled for.
Good. Maybe you’ll learn somethin’ ‘bout annoying me when y’can’t smell yer precious pies, y’bloody knob. [Marlene folds her arms under her chest, standing stock still to prove her point.]
I do not forget everything, Ryan. If y’learned not to tell me things when I’ve already had a lil’ bit to drink, then this wouldn’t keep happenin’. [Which was going to be pretty hard, what with all the drinking she’d been doing the past few weeks. Thinking about the return to school had depressed her for many reasons: a few being that it was her last year, that she was going to have to make important life choices her parents most likely would hate, and that she’d never have the chance to be a teenager again. What chance would she have at a normal life at a time like this? Even if she was smart and got a job, there was no way she wasn’t helping out the war cause. Marlene was good at three things - shooting her mouth off, playing Quidditch, and fighting. Professional Quiddtich wasn’t up her alley, and she couldn’t get a job in simply being an idiot, so battling bastards was her only choice.] D’you not remember when Liam an’ I pinned y’down and made y’eat grass? Because I certainly remember tha’ glorious moment in my life.
[She springs into action the minute he says black and grey, tilting her head back and laughing loudly.] Bloody hell - the fuckin’ Falcons? Ryan, yer as aggressive as a bloody baby unicorn. [Stupid arse brother stealing my bloody stuff, even when he’s out of the house, Marlene thinks darkly.] I’ll break yer broom if you don’t give me m’booze back.
Bloody cheek - am not a pompous arse! What the fuck’s pompous ‘bout me, huh?
Oi, my nose will always be able to smell pie or any food from a mile away. Y'know how my nose is. Ryan folded his arms over his chest, nodding at Marlene. His nose was awesome. It got him food and told him when he smelled bad. Win-win for him right there.
Mars...when am I suppose ta tell you things when you're sober? Yer hardly sober anymore... He was talking in an accusing manner but rather a concerned one. Drinking really wasn't the way to go. True that Ryan had drank before, he use to a lot--especially with Sturgis--but not anymore. He'd have a few drinks here and there but he didn't see the point in it anymore. Instead, he just drank to relax, not to get drunk. That's the only time that you 'nd Liam have been able ta pin me down. I'll let you take that credit for it if it makes ya feel better.
Yes the Falcons 'nd I'm doing pretty well thank you. Might be battered 'nd bruised when practice is done but so is e'ryone else. Normally Ryan wouldn't be that aggressive in a sport but when it came to Quidditch and he wanted to win, all bets were off. He was aggressive and he got what he needed done. People tended forgot about that side of him. Yer not touching my broom. I just got that! Mum 'nd dad would kill ya anyway!
....Everything. Ryan nodded, having no idea what was pompous about her because truth be told...nothing really was.
I wouldn’t be going back full-time or anything. Basically it means I’d just be studying independently with assistance from some of the professors as well as tutoring younger students. Hey, at least I’ll get to play Quidditch for another year. Sturgis sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He knew that Ryan’s Hufflepuff mind wouldn’t be able to comprehend this decision. You’re right, my scored aren’t bad. But they’re just not good enough. I’m still considering working in the Ministry and I want nothing but the best grades for that. He withdrew his wand from his arm beneath his long-sleeved shirt and, swishing it delicately through the air, Ryan’s arm guards and shirt flew gently across the room and folded themselves neatly in a corner. With this done, Sturgis swished the wand and the room was instantly filled with a subtle, leather-smelling perfume. It won’t really be like actually going back to Hogwarts because I’ll be able to leave through the floo network anyway. So really, I won’t even be sleeping there. The Ravenclaw turned his face to look directly at Ryan before leaning closer and kissing him just next to his lips.
You'd kill all the first years on the teams, Sturg. You'd like...murder them. Man, I thought being on the Falcons was bad...but yer gonna kill 'em. Ryan snorted, amused at the thought of Sturgis playing against all the little first years when he'd technically be an eighth year. Ha...it was really amusing to him for some reason. Maybe because Strugis was like three times their size. I'm pretty sure the Ministry would take ya with those scores. I mean, with what ya wanna do in there, do they need the E scores? When his clothes went flying, Ryan watched them and then looked back at Sturgis. Good because when I'm here...I don't want a cold bed. Well, Ryan was about to say more but then he felt lips on his jaw and his train of thought was lost. Sturgis had that ability, the moment his lips touch him, Ryan melts. A soft moan left his lips, eyes sliding closed. Mmm...he was okay with this.
— didn’t r-realize you appreciated the beauty of the moon.
Sometimes, really just depends on my mood. How've you been?
Now that Ryan was, to Sturgis’ delight, removing his dirty gear, he did feel somewhat guilty at having woken him. Though there was no doubt that that uniform needed desperate washing and Sturgis wanted it as far away from his bed as possible. Sturgis bit his lip at the mention of the letter, anxious to share it with the most important person in his life. Shit. Sorry about waking you. That gear certainly does need removing though… Oh yes, um, the letter. He fiddled with the envelopes opening before withdrawing from it a small piece of parchment. My N.E.W.Ts have arrived and well, I want better results. He paused suddenly to admire Ryan’s well-toned body. He loved that his boyfriend had decided to play Quidditch professionally because it meant he’d always keep in shape. Not that Ryan McKinnon ever had any trouble staying in shape, despite what his diet may indicate. Sturgis had gotten sidetracked and tersely shook his head to focus himself. Yeah, so I’ve achieved five ‘O’s and four ‘E’s which isn’t too bad but, well, I want to go back and redo some. I reckon I push my Defence Against the Dark Arts mark up easily with a bit more focus. Herbology, on the other hand, might be staying as an ‘E’… But yes, I think I want to go back to Hogwarts. He shrugged off his jacket, neatly folding it and setting it down on the desk near the door before sitting down on the bed next to Ryan.
Nah, you're cool. I woulda smelled like death warmed over in the morning. Ryan said, taking off the arm guards and pulling his shirt off. He was shirtless now and he ran his hand down his chest, wrinkling his nose. He could smell himself and it did not smell good. He never figured out how he was able to stay tiny, in shape, but yet be able to eat whatever the hell he wanted. He'd been told girls would kill for a body like his and be able to eat whatever they wanted but, that was their problem. He was happy with his body. He'd gotten in trouble more than once for not eating right at practice and was forced to go on a diet. He hated it but it was what he had to do to stay on the team. Hogwarts was so different that professional. Those scores aren't bad. Why're you going back? That doesn't make sense. Wait...can you even go back to Hogwarts after we've graduated? Why would you want to go back anyway? I mean, we're done there. Nothing really left for us to do there, Sturg. Unless you want to roam the halls and have Peeves throwing shit at you. Or better yet, the Marauders pulling pranks. Like the genderswapping one last year. That was great though... I wouldn't mind having those boobs back... it was fun while it lasted... Ryan mused, looking at his boyfriend often forgetting that he was a Ravenclaw and they had different mindsets than Hufflepuffs did. But then again, why would anyone want to go back to the school they just graduated from? True, Ryan was helping out there but it wasn't like he was going back to school full time or anything. Those scores are probably better than mine. Ryan said, sitting back down so he was close to Sturgis, still shirtless, only in his pants.
M’gonna do it again if you bloody ask me t’do it one more time. [She raises her finger up again, completely prepared to hit him on the nose.] And next time it’ll hurt more. And more—s’long as y’keep asking me.
Ah, yeah—good ol’ Mum an’ Da slipping whiskey into my morning oatmeal just t’have a laugh. Because they’d certainly want their kid t’doze off more than I already do. [Marlene grumbles, pressing her lips firmly together. Her parents have provided everything for her—supplies, a warm house, food, Quidditch tickets—and she’s very grateful for that. They give and let her do anything she pleases but that’s not to say they expect very much out of her. Sometimes she feels as if the only reason they bother with her is because it’d ‘cause ruckus in the community’ if they booted her out.] Aaand that’s where y’go wrong, Ryan, ‘cause it was obviously me who beat your scrawny arse up.
[Fucking Merlin. What the bloody hell did he say a few months ago? She didn’t want to look a fool—but then again, she’d set herself up for it when she claimed to know the team.] Puddlemere—or wait—something with black. Black and an ugly color, I bloody remember that! [Her eyes flash at the suggestion, daring; he can’t possibly know where it is.] Oh yeah? Where’d you find it, huh?
[God, sometimes I wonder if this kid’s actually related to me, Marlene muses, shaking her head.] O’course I am the ‘sissy’, y’bollocking toad—I’m yer sister. Take a few days and come up with somethin’ better, a’right?
One more time, do it once more. Ryan nodded, getting his hand ready to swat at his sister whenever she decided to poke him in the nose. When the poke did come, of course he wasn't ready for it and only swatted her hand afterwards. Yer gonna make my sniffer stop working, Marlene. Might wanna stop while you're ahead.
How do you know? You were little when all of that woulda happened. Maybe they did. It'd make sense with you forgetting everything. They both knew that wouldn't have happened. Their parents were interesting, always wanting the best from their kids even if they couldn't provide it. When Ryan told them what team he made, his parents pretended to sound proud but he knew they weren't. He could always tell from the way they answered things and moved onto the next topic of conversation. It annoyed him but as he grew older, he learned not to let it bother him as much with certain things. I don't know what yer talkin' bout. Truth you use ta hit me with the quaffle more times than I can count but that was turning matches, those don't count.
Nah, I wish I woulda made that team but black and grey. Remember what team those colors are? Ryan asked, arching a brow and folding his arms over his chest. He was testing her. He knew that she didn't remember or maybe she did and the booze was just getting to her from last night. A grin spread across his face from the reaction he received when he mentioned her booze going missing. If I told ya, that'd be telling.
Hey, it's the best I can think of right now. I could call ya a pompous arse but I don't think you'd like that one as much. So, sissy it is.
Sturgis fiddled with a crisp white envelope in his hands. Inside it was a letter that he’d read almost a dozen times now. No matter what, its contents were at the forefront of Sturgis’ mind. He took his time carefully treading down the corridor upstairs at the Three Broomsticks in order to not make a single noise and wake its patrons. If Ryan was sleeping Sturgis definitely didn’t plan to disturb him. His boyfriend had suffered enough discomfort this summer through extensive Quidditch practice and he had no intentions to wake the poor guy this late at night. Especially after Sturgis had stayed down at the bar until closing. Approaching the door to their room, Sturgis creaked the door open with utmost care and entered to see Ryan slouched on the bed and looking shattered. Slowly kicking the door shut; he lowered his voice and offered a smile in consideration. Oh hey, Ryan, I’m sorry if I woke you… You’re still in your training gear?
When the door opened, Ryan wanted to throw a quaffle at whoever just entered the room. He didn't care if it was Sturgis but someone was disturbing his sleep. That was almost as bad as taking his food when he was tired. However, when he heard the voice and what he was saying, he opened his eyes and looked down. Heh...he was still in his training gear wasn't he? At least it wasn't orange but black and grey instead. Must you say that when I was already sleep? Ryan asked, looking over at Sturgis with a brow raised as he spotted something in his hand. What's that? He asked, nodding towards the envolope, slowly moving to sit up and start taking his training gear off. Bloody stuff was sweaty, uhg it smelled like death.
Ryan shut the door behind him, dropping his bag on the floor. Tired. That's what he was right now. His muscles ached and he wanted to just kill everything to sleep right now. He had no idea where his lover was and he secretly hoped that he wasn't here so Ryan could just sleep instead of being awaken by him.
Well you’ll certainly look nice in orange because it’s you. Sturgis pouts slightly before lightly adjusting the side of Ryan’s hair with his hand. He nods to himself in approval. The real question is what I’ll be wearing at your games… Thankfully when your Cannons are up against my good old Montrose Magpies then I’ll be able to show off some black and white.
Pink may or may not be the colour of our new bedsheets…
That's because you think I look nice in everything. Ryan rolled his eyes and swatted Sturgis' hand away. Hey, I can fix my own hair thank you very much. I'm pretty sure you'll be mixing your colors than. I mean, the orange makes you look like a...bright...colored...thing.
Pink? Really? Why pink?
— lovely night, isn’t it? Moon’s pretty.
Most nights the moon is pretty. Kinda makes you wonder how small we are doesn't it?
