Charlie had been invited to city hall in order to talk about participating in an event for the youth of their town about being able to find success in their lives. Charlie honestly didn’t see himself as some sort of inspiration or that anybody would want to hear him talk but they insisted that he was popular and that teens loved him and read his books in their schools, which he felt honored by. He agreed to at least come down to city hall to talk about it and meet the others that might be participating in the event. He walked into the building, hands in his pockets anxiously s he looked around to see everyone else. He recognized a few people including an Olympian he had watched. He walked over and offered his hand and a smile. “Hi, I’m Charlie. I have to admit, I watched you when you were at the Olympics and you were amazing.”

Ryan had been through dozens of events like this, but the number was dwindling down as the years went by, and that was fine with him. He had no problem skating in front of millions of people, but if he had to talk in front of more than 10, he got very nervous. There wasn’t a huge crowd today, so he figure he’d be fine, but he still spent the time before it started focusing on keeping his breathing stead when he was approached and he smiled. “It’s nice to meet you, Charlie, I’m Ryan. I’m really glad you enjoyed it, that was the culmination of my life’s work and then it was just kind of over, so it’s always good to hear that people remember it. Have you ever done one of these before? I’m not really a fan of public speaking, but I always agree to show up for some reason.”
