Final Art Essay
Reflecting the activities and experiences seen in art this past semester, I’ve discovered large interests art can bring, not only to the subject of art itself, but also how it designs different interests in other subjects as well. Art can broaden people's horizons in a variety of ways, showing them creative abilities that one might have never expected to have, such as finding small solutions to a bigger situation, better organization and better managing from participating in activities like the photographic storytelling or attending every class for points. Specifically in the class, I learned some personal lessons of my own throughout the course of the semester that pertained inside and outside of the classroom.
How I came into learning new perspectives of art was by the various art activities that I participated in. Starting off with the attendance index cards, whenever in the process of creating an image on the card, it would occur to me that I gain deep interest and put in effort to make the card have a visual representation of a purpose or meaning. Doing this with index cards, I started realizing how much I was doing it for every other activity as now. One can be hockey, I began becoming more creative into setting a play, wanting to experience and see the results of a change I set in motion. Another can be with studying, how I would start testing different methods to study and thoroughly memorize information, such as flashcards, repeating homework and discussing with others that are working on similar topics. Currently being a business finance major, I see art related to business by the careful construction, changes and executions that are required within both subjects, such as being cautious in solving a mathematical problem. The problem has to be solved in a constructed, precise order to find the correct answer, same as how art needs to be constructed in a certain order to form an image. I’m not sure if this will benefit me in the future, but it has proven to me how I can find the right benefits that’ll help me prosper in life.
Seeing the evolution of art is astounding, being how it’s created and changed in the past and present. Art has been a factor of humanity's changes throughout our time, and has been around for as long as we can remember. It has brought perspectives within religion, government, environment, economy and entertainment. An example can be photogenic art, how people will portray a gesture with their body while in a unique, scenic area to bring a certain feeling to the viewer, not only displayed for admiration. Without art having a purpose, I believe the world would have been dull and different due to people not having creative interests or curiosities for finding a meaning in art, and am glad to be alive in an era where people can freely express art without being worryful of judgement and stolen of their work.
