Berserk sketches

For the first time in almost a year, here’s a new

JOURNAL ENTRY!!!!

As ironic as that is considering this blog was meant to be a journal at one point.

Today ima yap about what inspired me art wise.

I don’t talk about my inspirations all to often on my tumblr, partially because with the exception of one, I don’t think they are all too easy to see.

My main inspirations were Yoshiro Togashi, Tatsuki Fujimoto, Kentaro Miura, and Shirahama Kamome, Bengus and Toru Nakayama, despite this, with the exception of MAYBE the first two, my art doesn’t really resemble my inspirations all to much in my opinion.

Funnily enough i think it’s rather surprising that Kentaro Miura’s art on Berserk (mainly during the middle portion of the golden age arc) influenced how i rendered art immensely, albeit the underlying forms and anatomy of he drew is vastly different from what I can do.

When I first read Berserk, I am not going to lie, I felt a tad scared (probably cause I was like 13, reading a seinen manga for the first time in my life, let alone one known for its mature and horrific content) but something about the golden age arc’s art really stuck with me

I think it and Hunter X Hunter (Yoshiro Togashi) have had the biggest effect on how I draw, bar none.

This also why I use seventeen trillion lines per drawing, hatching is my favorite thing and I cannot stop myself from doing it
