Regaining some semblance of control

I believe that Spamton was a regular (heavy) smoker in his Big Shot era. The lack of nicotine takes a physical toll on him, where his hands shake quite violently. His lack of control over his own hands is a source of panic he has to constantly live with.

(This is based on a deep fear of mine, where I could lose my hands / control of my hands. "Hands are an extension of the soul," meaning that losing that control makes you lose an important part of yourself.)

I wanted to show the desperation Spamton goes through to keep the little things he has left under his control, so, by extension, himself.

He wants to prove to himself that he hasn't lost everything who shaped him.
