Yoshimi was born in the Edo Period in Japan, in the city of Kyō (now known as Kyōto) in 1653. He worked as an actor, bound to the school he was sold to, performing female roles (onnagata). As much as he took pride in his work and received much praise during his career, the abuse suffered throughout his infancy and adolescence made him despise the ambiance and conditions in which he (and his fellow housemates) was raised, putting success and perfection above all else. Yet, it was his remarkable talent that gained the attention of his maker, who turned him out of his desire to offer Yoshimi the ability to exercise the change he desired to witness. He was left alone and forsaken by his maker a few evenings after being turned, however, having learned only what was required for him to survive in his new nature.
He nonetheless stayed in Japan until recent years, waiting in the futile hope that his maker would return for him. Understanding that it was not to be, he began his travels in search of more of his kin, to learn their ways from them, and to see a world which he had denied to himself for far too long.
