however, her saviour arrives right then and there in the form of ryu chaerin, favourite mom friend and roomie for the trip. “hell yeah.” she pops a rice roll into her mouth, letting out a blissful hum. “your mom makes the best kimbap ever.” as she reaches for another, she offers chaerin a sheepish smile. “so it turns out that i left my toothbrush at home… do you have a spare one?”
chaerin practically glows when bomi asks. what a pleasant feeling it always was whenever she could be of help. “yeah! i’ll go grab it,” she says and places the container next to bomi. chaerin makes a beeline for one of the duffels and rips open the family pack of toothbrushes she’d bought. there are four colors and she sits next to bomi for her to choose.
she hands her the pack. “there’s pink, blue, yellow, and green.”
the clutter, however, doesn’t slip pass her attention. in fact, it’s all somehow emphasized in her vision: the bag turned inside out, the contents strewn in a daunting pile on her roommate’s bed. chaerin sighs, catches herself doing so, then immediately follows up with a chuckle. she wants to clean it immediately.
miraculously, bomi’s clothes are folded. “you folded your clothes!” chaerin exclaims. she stands and moves the folded heap to the drawers before any damage can be done “these are going here.” after, she reaches for the products on bomi’s bed to place on the vanity. not that chaerin would admit, but this was a chore she’d missed doing.
chaerin sits next to bomi and leans against the bedframe. “so,” she begins, grabbing the bag and turning it back the right way. “can you believe we’re here for a week? it’s been a while since i’ve had a break from the firm.” she shares, then quickly faces bomi. “speaking of! how’s the job? anything fun happen recently?”
