something  seems  to  be  the  matter  so  mark  lets  jace  tell  him  when  he’s  ready.  his  guts  are  telling  him  it’s  bad  and  he  hates  it  because  that  gut  feeling  is  always  right.  unfortunately.  “ you  really  got that  drunk?  bro… ”  he’s  at  his  wits  end,  unsure  how  to  react  to  the  other  part  of  the  news  he’s  heard  just  now.  “ did  you,  like,  sleep  with  some  random  girl  you  met  at  the  bar? ”  letting  out  a  sigh,  mark  scratches  at  the  side  of  his  head.  “ well,  you  didn’t  really  do  it  on  purpose  so  please  don’t  freak  out  just  yet. i’m  here  to  talk  it  out  before  you  go  do  another  stupid  thing. ”

“ yeah  i  know,  it’s  not  like  me  at  all. ”  he  could  count  on  his  hand  the  times  he  had  been  drunk.  some  would  say  it  was  a  curse,  jace  didn’t  care  too  much.  he  liked  to  drink  when  with  friends  but  didn’t  see  the  appeal  in  getting  drunk.  “ that’s  the  other  part..  it  was  with  lilly. ”  jace  groans,  placing  his  hands  over  his  face.  “  i  don’t  know  mark,  does  that  make  it  worse?  better?  i  don’t  have  feelings  for  lilly  anymore,  she  basically  ripped  out  my  heart  and  stomped  on  it  so  why  the  hell  did  i  sleep  with  her?  ”

“ where  …  where  is  brandon? ”  kailyn  asked,  her  voice  hardly  above  a  whisper,  broken  and  shaky.  she  wasn’t  sure  whether  seulbi’s  expression  meant  something  bad  or  she  was  just  worried  about  her.  it  hurt  her  brain  to  even  think  about  the  possible  answers  to  all  her  questions.  it  hurt  her  heart  too.  “ did  our … our  baby … what  happened? ”  she  was  assuming  that  after  such  a  horrible  accident,  the  baby  she  was  carrying  didn’t  survive.  “ what  is  going  on… ”  she  breathed  out,  tears  blurring  her  vision  again.  

tears  burned  seulbi’s  eyes,  she  didn’t  want  to  have  to  tell  her  best  friend  the  news  but  it  was  best  that  she  did  and  not  the  doctor,  a  stranger.  a  lump  formed  in  her  throat  but  she  managed  to  hold  everything  together  long  enough  to  tell  kailyn  everything.  “ brandon  is  in  another  room,  in  the  icu.  i  don’t  know  too  much,  other  than  the  accident  caused  his  brain  injury  to  worsen  and  his  brain  swelled.  derek  is  with  him. ”  seulbi’s  hand  is  still  tightly  linked  with  kailyn’s.  she  places  kailyn’s  hand  on  her  own  stomach,  where  her  and  brandon’s  baby  was  very  much  still  alive,  seulbi’s  resting  on  top  of  kailyn’s  hand.  “ your  baby  is  healthy. ”  she  says  with  a  smile.  though  it’s  her  best  friend  and  she  feels  the  pain  for  her,  it  hits  a  little  closer  to  home  for  seulbi  being  that  kailyn  is  also  pregnant.  seulbi  couldn’t  imagine  going  through  this  not  knowing  if  the  love  of  her  life  was  okay  and  the  baby  they  made  together  was  okay.  it  made  seulbi  want  to  tell  derek  she  loved  him  even  more  than  usual  and  hold  him  a  little  tighter  tonight.  “ do  you  not  remember  the  accident? ”

kailyn.

after  the  unfortunate  accident  and  many  nights  spent  in  coma,  kailyn  finally  woke  up.  there  was  only  the  white  noise  around  her  and  a  beeping  that  wasn’t  unfamiliar  to  her.  it  took  a  while  for  her  to  finally  open  her  eyes.  it  was  a  blur  at  first  and  she  could  barely  make  out  shapes,  silhouettes.  white  walls  and  a  closed  door  was  what  she  saw  once  her  vision  cleared.  slowly,  it  was  all  coming  to  her.  from  what  had  happened  to  where  she  was  now.  tears  immediately  pooled  at  the  corners  or  her  eyes  and  soon  started  trickling  down  her  cheeks.  the  tears  burned  on  her  skin.  the  last  thing  she  remembered  was  feeling  the  impact  when  they  got  hit  and  after  that,  there  was  a  white  spot.  kailyn  tried  to  move  her  hand  but  she  couldn’t  because  someone  was  holding  it.  for  a  moment  she  believed  that  would  be  brandon  by  her  side  and  gave  a  weak  squeeze  to  it.  but  when  she  finally  moved  her  head,  her  gaze  fell  onto  seulbi’s  figure.  she  must  have  fallen  asleep  while  staying  by  her  side  and  the  thought  only  spurred  a  whirlwind  of  emotions  and  more  tears  to  run  down  her  cheeks.  “ seulbi … ”  she  had  way  too  many  questions  and  needed  the  answers  as  soon  as  possible  too. / @s0rikkun·

getting  the  phone  call  that  kailyn  and  brandon  had  been  in  an  accident  sent  seulbi  into  a  panic.  everything  was  uncertain  and  she  needed  to  be  at  the  hospital  no  matter  if  things  turned  out  okay  or  not.  seulbi  had  paced  the  waiting  room,  worrying  and  crying,  hoping  that  the  two  were  okay.  as  soon  as  she  was  able,  seulbi  went  to  stay  with  kailyn  in  the  room  even  if  she  wasn’t  awake.  she  didn’t  want  her  to  wake  up  alone.  it  had  been  hours  since  waiting  and  so  eventually  she  dosed  off  while  sitting  next  to  her,  hand  holding  onto  kailyn’s.  the  weak  squeeze  of  her  hand  and  voice  doesn’t  take  much  for  seulbi  to  open  her  eyes,  lifting  her  head  to  see  her  friend  opening  her  eyes  was  a  wave  of  relief.  “ hey.. ”  she  says  softly,  a  slight  smile  appearing  though  soon  replaced  with  a  frown  seeing  kailyn’s  tears.  seulbi  knew  she  would  ask  about  brandon  and  sadly,  she  didn’t  have  good  news  to  tell  her.

sowon.

sowon  spent  most  of  her  day  at  the  library,  studying  with  a  classmate.  she  was  taking  this  very  seriously,  not  only  because  she’d  given  up  sports  to  study  business  but  because  she  wanted  to  further  please  her  parents  with  her  excellent  grades.  not  to  mention  that  she  had  finally  received  word  from  the  bank  where  she  applied  to  intern.  she  couldn’t  wait  to  tell  the  good  news  to  jace.  as  if  he  had  heard  her  thoughts  from  miles  away,  sowon  found  jace  in  front  of  her  door  when  she  arrived  home.  the  moment  she  got  close  enough,  she  could  feel  something  about  him  was  off.  “ hey  …  of  course!  let’s  go  inside  first. ”  she  said,  wondering  if  he  was  upset  because  of  his  father’s  death  anniversary  or  something  else.  taking  his  hand,  sowon  entered  the  code  and  pushed  the  door  open,  leading  her  boyfriend  in.  “ what’s  wrong,  baby?  tell  me. ”

the  guilt  sinks  further  onto  him  when  he  sees  sowon’s  face,  when  she  grabs  his  hand.  usually  he  would  hug  her,  squeeze  her  hand.  jace  wasn’t  the  most  chipper  or  touchy  person,  to  outsiders  they  even  saw  jace  as  a  bit  cold  and  unapprochable.  but  if  you  knew  him,  you  knew  that  this  was  unlike  him  to  act  distant  -  typically  he  showed  his  love  and  appreciation  for  those  around  him  in  his  own  way.  he  stays  quiet  and  follows  sowon  inside,  removes  his  shoes  and  keeps  his  head  low,  barely  looking  at  her.  “ can  we  sit  down? ”  his  heart  was  beating  so  quickly  from  how  nervous  he  was,  he  even  had  started  sweating  a  little.  jace  takes  a  seat  on  the  couch.  “ yesterday  after  our  game,  i  left  in  a  bad  headspace.  things  kept  adding  up.  we  lost  and  i  guess  it  was  the  tip  of  the  iceberg,  it  set  me  off.  i  needed  to  get  out  of  there. ”  jace  started  venting  it  all,  pausing  to  take  a  few  breaths  here  and  there.  “ i  went  and  started  drinking..  not  the  best  idea  when  you’re  mad,  i  know.  you  know  i  never  get  drunk,  but  i  wanted  that.  i  wanted  to  just..  forget  for  a  little  while?  i  did.  i  got  drunk  and  the  night  is  a  blur..  except.. ”  he  wished  so  much  that  he  could  leave  it  there,  that  it  was  all  he  did  but  it  wasn’t.  his  stomach  turns  at  his  own  actions.  it  was  something  he  would  never  do,  yet  he  did.  “ i  slept  with  someone. ”  jace  makes  sure  that  even  though  it’s  extremely  painful  to  look  at  her  right  now,  when  he  delivers  that  news,  he  looks  at  sowon.  if  it  was  painful  for  him,  he  can’t  imagine  how  she  was  going  to  feel.

playing  dumb,  joey  looks  back  to  see  if  by  any  chance  somyi  is  talking  to  someone  else  but  alas,  it’s  just  him  there.  he  didn’t  even  notice  the  others  had  left  already.  “ yeah,  sure. ”  he  says  and  finally  pays  his  full  attention  to  her,  gaze  flickering  from  her  to  her  wrist.  seeing  the  way  she  plays  with  her  bracelet  makes  him  unknowingly  reach  to  touch  his  own.  as  if  to  make  sure  it’s  still  there  around  his  wrist.  when  she  starts  talking  again,  his  gaze  instantly  meets  with  hers.  hearing  somyi  saying  she  still  loves  him  gives  him  hope  but  the  part  of  him  that  still  hasn't  moved  on  puts  up  a  barrier.  “ hate  is  a  strong  word  and  i  wouldn’t  want  to  use  it.  however,  i  …  i’m  not  sure  how  i  feel  about  you. ”  those  past  few  months  weren’t  enough  for  him  to  decide  how  he  felt  about  somyi  reappearing  in  his  life.  he  was  constantly  torn  between  holding  grudges  and  moving  on.  “ you  could  decide  to  go  again,  without  a  word  and  i’m  not  about  to  let  myself  go  through  this  shit  again. ”

her  heart  beat  grows  faster  with  each  moment  he  stays  silent.  she  thinks  to  herself  that  maybe  it  was  too  soon,  maybe  she  shouldn’t  have  said  anything  and  she  just  ruined  it  all.  that  is,  until  he  speaks.  perhaps  she  still  had  a  chance.  “ i..  can  understand  that. ”  somyi  left  without  a  word  last  time,  they  had  been  engaged  and  so  in  love.  she  had  a  moment  of  doubt  and  panicked,  left,  regretted  it  ever  since.  “ it’s  just..  i  was  really  dumb  then.  i  started  to  have  doubts  and  overthink  things,  i  panicked  and  left  when  i  should  have  talked  through  it  with  you  to  ease  my  mind.  it’s  something  i  can’t  take  back  but  i  regret. ”  somyi  nervously  played  with  the  bracelet  on  her  wrist  as  she  spoke,  hoping  that  at  least  he  would  hear  her  out.  “ there  is  something  else  too..  something  that  i  wanted  to  tell  you  about  for  a  long  time,  but  i..  never  could  find  the  right  time. ”  she  wanted  to  lay  it  all  out  on  the  table,  leave  no  secrets.  somyi  was  serious  about  wanting  to  be  with  him  again  and  she  knew  that  meant  opening  up.
