compilation of all my ocs AKA my take on classic JTTW/BMW characters - though heavily skewed towards BMW (which is my first exposure to JTTW in general)
anyways this is still a WIP, though feel free to ask abt. these losers (i’m obsessed)
I am obsessed with mermaids and merfolk and I decided I’d share a WIP of what I’m currently working on. I still have to detail and shade everything but so far it’s turning out well in my opinion.
Meet my Caspian Family, a breed of Merfolk I created that has a range of abilities including;
* Vocal and ocular Hypnosis (their siren effect)
* Electricity output (they can stun or kill)
* Bioluminescence
* Enhanced strength, speed and endurance
* Aquatic portal creation (Can connect one body of water to another)
* Storm songs (but only when sung together as one)
* Hydrokinesis
* Aquatic and terrestrial transformations
* Harden scales (their human forms are still softer though.)
————————-
Predatory man-eaters. They are beautiful, alluring, deadly and most are capricious.
The siblings are nomadic but tend to stick near the area of Ocean ranging from the costal areas in the American States of Maine to North Carolina, the Greenland towns of Sisimuit to Nanortalik, to the Islands of Hawaii.
If you’d like to read more about the family, and the species I created as a whole, I have a whole list under the cut 😉

More Fun Facts!
Family fun facts;
Of the siblings, Bimasha, Meya and Erwinek are the only ones who are full blooded siblings. Their father is a Scandinavian Mariner who Cordelia is genuinely fond of.
And other than the Scandinavian siblings and Serenus, who inherited her Father’s Calm and Tranquil nature that Cordelia took pleasure in, the other three siblings fathers were eaten soon after their mother was sure she was with child.
Meya is quite possessive of the boys in her family. Being older than both her brothers, she’s worried about them being taken away and that results in her being somewhat hostile whenever they show interest in an outsider. Bahria and Serenus usually have to talk her down and give the outsider a chance. Besides, the outsiders never stick around that long.
While Bimasha is the officially recognized Matriarch of the family, Serenus is the “mom” of the group. And she’s the one everyone, including Bimasha, goes to when they need advice, reassurance or comfort. But Serenus doesn’t have the drive to be a leader like Bimasha, so despite knowing her elder sister’s deepest insecurities, she still bows her head and takes a step back.
Jaladhi currently has three guys she’s called “Dibs” on. She’s feeling them out on whether or not they’d be a good father to the child she eventually wants. Bimasha isn’t impressed with any of them and thinks Jaladhi needs to mature more before thinking about getting involved with humans like their mother and starting a family.
Erwinek recently started sneaking into the college campus in Maine and talking to a young woman on the competitive rowing team. He’s absolutely smitten and everyone’s kinda nervous about it. He still refuses to introduce her to them, only Serenus has seen her. Serenus is also quietly apprehensive, but thinks the girl is pretty, and seems nice at least.
Bahria is a menace. She doesn’t see the point in paying for anything when she can just hypnotize people into giving stuff to her. But she’s incredibly fond of wind chimes and if she finds a well crafted one, she will pay the maker for it out of respect for the craft.
Species Fun Facts;
They eat by directly absorbing one’s life force, this also allows them to maintain their youth and their enhanced endurance and strength. This absorption leaves their prey an empty, shriveled husk that soon breaks apart and becomes sand.
They only need to feed once every 3 months. Two siblings can feed off of one body and feel satisfied.
Due to their longer lifespans, they age much more slowly. They take around 30 years to reach maturity of a “young adult” humans usually reach around 18-20. And the merfolk tend to freeze at that age. Only aging if they refuse to feed and begin to starve themselves.
A merfolk starving themselves has one of three outcomes. 1) the merfolk goes mad with hunger and enters a blood rage in which they will feed until they are stopped, usually by death or imprisonment. 2) they become solitary due to hunger and waste away until they die, their body becoming nutrition until not even bones remain, 3) They give in and go back to feeding like normal.
While feeding without killing the prey is technically possible, it takes a great deal of practice and a considerable amount of self control. If able to be pulled off, it takes the Prey about 3 weeks to a month to recover back to their normal energy levels. Though they do loose a considerable amount of weight and may age two of three years.
The merfolk are telepathic with family members, but can also relay intent to minds that are in the water, be they outsiders, animals or even humans.
They are also bioluminescent and can communicate with each other underwater using these brilliant light shows if telepathy isn’t an option.
While they do have a mating season that begins in the fall and lasts for about two weeks, it can be ignored with some effort. And both males and females have full control over their fertility. If they don’t want a child, they can easily turn off that part of their reproductive system at any point.
While the merfolk’s prey is humans, during mating season some will seek the company of humans for those two weeks. As such, any human who keeps the merfolk company and survives is usually marked, claimed and seen as special. The universal sign known as “Dibs” is soaked into their skin through scent and ensures that no other merfolk bothers that human.
There are very few laws that are respected amongst the Merfolk as a whole. But there are 4 that are universally recognized. 1) The rule of “Dibs” is respected amongst the Merfolk. Don’t touch another Merfolk’s human. 2) Children are off limits, they offer no nutritional value when young, there’s no reason to target them. 3) Keep the Secret. If a human finds out, you’d better ensure they never tell anyone. How you do that is up to you. 4) Respect the territorial boundaries, there’s no reason to largely gather or intrude on another’s home waters. Too large of groups will attract attention.
Failure to respect the 4 laws can and have resulted in the execution of the lawbreakers.

Eyes twinkling of jade
What soul you hide behind
A soul of a child?
A daughter akin to her father?
Hated by the one who gave her life?
A small lore drop of my girl Lian Mei. Hehehe
First sketchbook page in a whiiiile! I'm so glad I managed to finish that one... Yes it does have Black myth wukong stuff in it (Mostly monke) cause dangit I want tto get comfy drawing the bastard!
I think it's appropriate time to feed the shippers (shippers being me hehe)
So to make a long lore short: Lian Mei and Destined One at one point in the story get very close (I'd say post chapter 4) to the point of being comfortable with sleeping next to eachother.
Lian at times is haunted by nightmares and all Destined One can do at the moment is embrace her as she drifts off to sleep. Little does she know that, despite being friends and very close companions, he secretly kisses her forehead.... Knowing that he, just like in his past, fell for her, and hard.
These 2 being lovey dovey, is my life.
Destined One after retaining Wukong's memories and fully reincarnating as Sun Wukong, can't help but get back into the habits.
in other words Wukong and Lian had a chance to fall in love with eachother all over again.
Not many people know this but I actually tried to design my own version of Wukong that I just scrapped all together. I wanted to give him more of an.... old ish man look but completely gave up.
It's been a long time since I drew these and never finished. Kinda want to revise these to make stickers or even as an example of a full body chibi. Need to think about it a bit longer.
