doctor who fic: to be linked when i actually write it
after rose survives the events of doomsday and continues to stay in the current verse, all is fine until the tardis one day lands the doctor and her on a strange science-based planet full of scientists who claim that their experimentation is for the greater good. originally they had genuinely noble goals, but they were gradually corrupted over time to become the power hungry corp they are today.
not only do they kidnap people to experiment on them (lab rats) but if they find individuals who are suited to their goals they brainwash them into their right hands to help them capture more people and kill anyone standing in their way- to further their hold
they explore the planet until they find jack strapped to a table, experiment B-9X as the door says, with the corp testing the limits of his undead abilities and seeing if they can take it for themselves. horrified the doctor gets jack into his feet and sends him into the tardis to recuperate.
unfortunately they are discovered by guards and after a fight the doctor realises he is screwed. managing to get rose and jack on board, he attempts to join them but is captured and can only watch as the tardis leaves without him
the corp, gleefully discovering that they have a timelord under their control mentally brainwash him into their little assassin coming at their beck and call. due to this experimentation the doctor’s eyes begin to release regeneration energy* (headcanon below) so they give him a new name
from experiment A-10X, what was formerly the doctor gets renamed into golden.
plus they dye his hair and send him off to capture and kill, with a particular device in the back of his neck on his two brainstems to maintain control
(i am aware that this name shares a relationship with kpdh)
after five years of building up a dangerous reputation, with basically no failures, and the best assassin/ right hand guy in the corp, the corp finally sends him after captain jack to capture him, confident that there won’t be any problems.
golden finds jack (not on earth) but his time lord senses make him want to call of the mission, they can tell he’s a living fixed point and they hate it, but golden has orders so he goes in although his usual skills are affected due to jack.
jack has a mini heart attack and at first tries to reason, but when it becomes clear that golden has no memory and desire to call it off he fights back. but when golden is about to strike the killing blow, he hesitates and misses, allowing jack to escape.
forced to return to the corps in failure, they’re disappointed and wipe his memories of the encounter, then send him after jack again with the order to kill him if he fails along with everyone else who interferes.
unfortunately this time jack’s on earth near torchwood, with rose- and that’s when golden sees her for the first time in five years
