The Tale of Kakarot and Chi-Chi
Re-wrote this fic because I was not happy with the previous one.
Based on the Tale of Aragorn and Arwen by J.R.R. Tolkien
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Someone sings in the forest.
Kakarot follows the sound, weaving through the bone-white birch trees that reach high enough to kiss the clouds, pausing when he spots a young woman gathering wildflowers in a clearing.
He knows the melody, could match her word for word if he were so inclined to, but Kakarot has never been much of a singer.
The maiden wears a cloak of blue and silver, and her dark hair spills down her back like a silk curtain. Though her face remains turned from him, he can see her ears end in elegant points, and he knows right away what she is even before she turns to him. Her lips have ceased moving as he smiles kindly at her.
“Uh, hello there. I didn’t mean to startle you. You just sing very nicely and... Well, I was curious. Don’t believe we’ve met before. I’m Goku- Pardon, I meant Kakarot. What’s your name?”
He must sound and look very peculiar to her, swathed in fine fabrics that an elf-lord would wear while clearly not being an elf himself. Simply a mortal, one who is a bit coarse and too large for these robes he's been forced into.
He doesn’t recognize this maiden, so she must be a drifter, an elf from another realm. Hers had not been among the faces that welcomed his return a day ago, all of which were as recognizable and unchanged as when he’d last seen them ten years ago. Despite not recalling ever having crossed paths with this young elf until today, there is a familiarity about her that tugs at the corners of his memories.
She holds a bouquet of flowers to her chest, looking like weeds in comparison to her loveliness as a flush rises to her cheeks.
“Kakarot, Son of Bardock. Yes, I know of you. You were my father's ward before you went off on your ventures. I’m.... I’m Chi-Chi.”
“Chi-Chi! You’re the Ox King’s daughter, aren’t you? So nice to finally meet you after all these years.”
She turns her eyes away from his gaze, blinking coyly.
"Likewise."
Not once had the princess made herself known in the ten years he'd stayed at Hidden Valley. She'd been sent off and tucked away elsewhere in a haven for her kind, shielded from the threats the rest of the world was facing, her life guarded and secure.
The Ox King has always taken extra care when it comes to keeping his daughter safe, to the excess that he will not display a portrait of her in public view of the palace, only in a picture frame inside his own chambers, next to the portrait of his deceased wife, almost identical in beauty.
My most precious gem, he called her.
That's why she looked so familiar. He's seen her before, just not in person or passing. As a still portrait that evidently had not done her brilliant eyes enough justice.
“My father has told me stories of a man named Son Goku. He's reported that he is stronger than any man, dwarf, or elf, and most notably, that he is pure of heart. I have long wanted to meet him, and it appears that my wish will never come to pass now that he bears the name Kakarot."
Her frown is full of sympathy, as if sensing the discomfort he experiences when being referred to by that name.
In his heart, he is still Goku, not this Kakarot everyone's been telling him he is and whom he's destined to be. In fact, it was The Ox King who'd been the one to reveal his true identity, to drop the news that he isn't merely an ordinary human from the drylands.
He is Kakarot, Son of Bardock. Son of a Hero.
Son of a stranger, of a man he never knew.
His destiny is to follow in his father's footsteps as the realm's new protector. A hero to all the creatures who are not of evil brood.
He certainly has a very large role to fill, and it's one that he ever really wanted.
"Well, you can still call me Goku. I'd actually like that very much."
The color does not leave her cheeks, only deepens as she nods in agreement. "Very well. It will be our little secret, Goku."
He smiles.
While this meeting may be a highlight in the tidings of his new life, he will still need to get adjusted to the title he's been anointed just as the mantle he wears had to be tailored to his build. He will use the name Kakarot when he needs to; speak it when the situation calls for it.
If a hero is what he's destined to be, then a hero is what he'll perform as.
Between him and the princess, however, he can remain Goku. His true self, if not for a lifetime, at least for an instant, here with her.
"Will you escort me back to my palace? I'm afraid father will worry that I've been away for so long unaccompanied."
They make their way around the forest, sleeves barely touching as he tells her of his escapades while he'd still been a Ranger widely known as Goku.
Those days will be missed, but he knows there will be more adventures that will come his way, more excitement to be had.
She listens to him attentively, never interrupting his stories except to gasp during moments of great peril or laugh when comical relief is supplied.
"You've had quite the life, Son Goku. In spite of your short years you've done more than many of my own kind have done in the long expanse of theirs, including myself."
They pause at the edge of the forest just beyond the palace reach, reluctant to go any further else break the little bubble they've built around themselves.
When she lifts her eyes up to his, they spark with an ageless light that has burned longer than his existence, brighter than any star.
A star, that's what she is. The most beautiful of them all.
Something takes shapes in his heart right then, reaching from his bosom to hers, a thread that outshines and will outlive even the moon itself. A force that can never die, even when one day his body will.
It will be a while longer before that happens, and so whatever time he has left on this earthly plane of existence, he now knows who it is he would like to spend it with, and has an inkling that she feels the same way.

A brief synopsis is that this is an AU where Kakarot, a member of the ruthless Saiyan team is on the run but has no direction on what he wants to do. I hope you enjoy it, I’ll try to post regularly but no promises. Comment, like and reblog below.
Wayward
“Here ya go” The bartender said as he put the drink down at the table before the wild haired Saiyan. The short glass filled with brown liquor was surrounded by empty glasses and burnt cigarette butts. The Saiyan grabbed the glass and took a hearty sip before slamming it on the table in front of him.
“Easy there, Kakarot. If you break my table again, I’ll have to kick you out for the night. The boss was pissed after I let you off last time.”
Rolling his eyes, Kakarot reached in his armor for another cigarette. He placed the butt lightly in his mouth, and it delicately hung on his lips. These Earthlings were so uptight and nervous all the time, they took the fun out of everything. But, he was grateful for the lack of attention this planet had. Kakarot needed to lay low and figure out his next move, and hiding out on a planet full of weaklings was the perfect place to do so.
He glared up at his acquaintance and responded, “Now, where’s the fun in that, Yamcha.”
“I’m serious, Kakarot. I can’t lose this job.”
“Yah, yah fine. Just make sure the drinks don’t stop, and maybe I’ll try not to break your table.”
Yamcha rolled his eyes and walked away, revealing a stunning beauty behind him who sat at the bar. Well, she’s new Kakarot thought.
Her long black hair was shiny and had a slight wave to it as it rested on the small of her back. Although Kakarot could only see her profile, he knew she was leagues above most of the women in this joint. Damn, she was something else he noted as he leaned back against the plush booth behind him. Briefly, he turned away to finally light his cigarette. Looking up again as he exhaled a cloud of smoke from his body, the woman at the bar made eye contact with him and it took a brief moment before she smirked back at him, her eyes sparkling in flirtation.
Most people would turn away out of embarrassment or from being uncomfortable, but Kakarot intensified his look, refusing to be the first one to look away. Finally, she turned away but Kakarot kept his stare, examining her features. She wore tight, ripped black pants and from what he could tell, some sort of armor, leather jacket placed lightly over her shoulders. She turned again, and caught his gaze once more. He kept his eye contact with her bright, brown eyes, blowing out another cloud of smoke. Kakarot was just about to beckon her over when a voice slurred to his right.
“Ka-Kakarot, you got any spar-re chain for me.”
“Roshi, you’re drunk. Get out of my face.” Kakarot waved off the drunk old man and Roshi laughed as he stumbled back to the tables behind Kakarot. Sighing in annoyance, Goku turned back in his booth and was surprised by the new visitor sitting next to him.
“You looked like you could use a friend.” She smirked and Kakarot chuckled before answering.
“What makes you think I need a friend.”
“So the long, smoldering looks you were giving me earlier, what was that then?” She teased and Kakarot couldn’t help but slightly smile as he admitted she had a point.
Putting down his cigarette to reach for his drink, he took a long sip, needing the liquid courage now more than ever. Unlike his other conquests in his past, who were dumb and easy, the woman in front of him had a fire about her that made him want to figure her out more, as well as take her home. He had to play this right if he’d be accomplishing that goal tonight. After finishing his sip, he turned back and answered.
“Well, you’ve got a point. I guess I am looking for a bit of company tonight.”
She smiled and leaned closer to him before requesting, “Can I snag one of your cigarettes. I’ve been dying for one all night.”
Turning to his armour, Kakarot pulled out a cigarette and handed it to her. She put the butt in her mouth and said flirtatiously.
“Mind giving me a light?”
Kakarot grabbed his lighter as she moved closer and he lit the front of the cigarette. Smiling, she inhaled and then exhaled the smoke lightly in his face. All Kakarot could think was that she was insanely attractive. Not just physically, but her personality and forwardness really did something to him.
Putting his arm over the top of the booth to lean closer to her, Kakarot asked, “So, what brings you into a dive like this.”
“I could ask you the same thing, Saiyan.”
Surprised, Kakarot frowned, “How’d you know I was a Saiyan?”
“Please, it’s so obvious. You might have been able to fool everyone else here but I’ve been around. Although the lack of tail does make it a little harder to tell.” She lightly tapped her cigarette on the ash holder in front of them and asked “How’d you lose it anyway?”
Trying not to discuss a rather painful memory, especially right now, Kakarot quickly changed subjects.
“What are you drinking? I need another.”
“Bourbon, neat.” She replied and Kakarot waved Yamcha over for another round.
“Two bourbons.”
Yamcha nodded and Kakarot turned his attention back on the mystery woman in front of him. She was searching around the bar a bit anxiously so Kakarot took this opportunity to study her a little better without acting like a creep, which he would have been if he did so earlier. She wore light eye makeup, which accentuated her features. Under her jacket, she also wore a tight, burnt orange shell that really displayed her chest. Kakarot didn’t mind gazing at her chest before she could notice that he was staring too long. As she turned back to face him, Kakarot quickly glanced up and she smiled.
“So, what are you doing at a place like this then?”
Kakarot waved a finger with a grin, “I asked that first.”
Rolling her eyes, she moved in closer to Kakarot in the booth as Yamcha sat down their drinks. Leaning over him, her lips dangerously close to Kakarot’s, she grabbed her glass and sipped before leaning back.
“Just here to have some fun. How about you?”
Kakarot could respond that he was currently on the run from the rest of his team. He could tell her that he’s been coming to this bar for the last month and was bored out of his mind. He would even tell her that he feels like he is adrift and has no direction in his life and doesn’t know what to do with it at the moment, but that would be too much to tell a stranger. Even if she made him feel like he could tell her those things. Grunting, Kakarot grabbed his drink and chugged it. After finishing, he then slammed the glass on the table and a distant groan from Yamcha could be heard behind them. He needed that drink to get those weak, pointless thoughts out of his head.
“Yah, something like that.”
He could tell that she was studying him and he didn’t mind. Hopefully, she liked what she saw as well.
The door opening caught both of their attention, and Kakarot glanced up to see two space cops walking over to the bartender.
“Shit.” The woman cursed next to him.
“Wait, wha-?” Kakarot tried to ask but his question was interrupted by her urgent lips on his. Initially, he was taken off guard and his body froze. But, as she moved close to him and bent her head to cover them with her hair, Kakarot took the lead and eagerly wrapped an arm around her, deepening the kiss. He then ran his hand up and grabbed a fistful of hair, smiling a little against her lips. The kiss intensified and she lightly moaned against his lips, and it took everything in his power not to run to a bathroom stall and take her right then and there.
Abruptly, she broke the kiss and peered over his shoulder, noticing the cops as they went towards the back to the bathroom stalls. Leaning back, she smiled and placed a hand on his chest.
“Well, that’s my cue to leave. This has been...very fun.” She blushed slightly and slid carefully out of the booth.
Confused, Kakarot reached up and lightly grabbed her waist, “Wait, where are you going? We were in the middle of something he-.”
SLAM
Suddenly, Kakarot found his cheek forced hard against the table, and his arm pulled painfully behind his back.
“Listen, you’re lucky that I like you, or we’d be having a much different discussion. But next time you touch me like that, I won’t be as nice. Got it?”
He must be crazy or maybe it was the booze, but this was insanely attractive to him.
“Can I at least get your name?” Kakarot mumbled against the table.
She surveyed the bar before letting his arm go. Grabbing a fistful of his wild hair, she brought Kakarot’s face off the table. She then leaned down to whisper in his ear.
“It’s Chi-Chi, but call me Chi.”
“Kakarot.” Kakarot replied painfully, his cheek still throbbing from his face slamming on the table.
A small peck on his cheek relieved Kakarot momentarily of the pain and then he was released from her hold, his face landing hard on the table again. Lifting his head with a groan, he saw the shocked bar patrons staring at him. Kakarot rubbed his cheek and cursed under his breath, angry that he had his guard down so much that someone was able to get the jump on him. Suddenly, the cops came bursting out of the back, running outside and screaming to each other.
“She’s getting away, move!”
Sirens and lights flickered against the windows of the bars and after a brief moment of silence, everyone eventually got back to their business. Kakarot was very confused about what just transpired but moreover, he was curious at who Chi was and why she was wanted by the space cops.
Deciding he should probably get some air, and needing to calm down from the anger welling up in his chest from his embarrassment, Kakarot walked out front and dug into his armor for more cigarettes.
“Are they gone?” A voice called out from above him. Looking up, Kakarot found Chi standing on the roof.
Grunting, he replied, “Yah but how’d you avoid them? They seemed to be hot on your trail for a moment there.”
Jumping down, Chi landed and stood up. She casually shrugged and continued, “Eh, I’ve been at this for a long time. They were rookies.”
Kakarot couldn’t help but smile and he took another hit of his cigarette. This girl was different than any woman he’s met before.
Chi walked over the hoverbike rack and pulled out bike. She hopped on and flipped her hair, gazing at the road in front of her. Kakarot nodded towards the bike.
“Nice ride.” Chi turned back to him and replied.
“Thanks, it's not mine.”
Again, Kakarot couldn’t contain his chuckle and she smiled back with bright eyes before saying, “Put some ice on that cheek. Would be a shame to have a gorgeous face like yours bruise.”
“Thanks for the concern, but I’ve been through worse.”
This time, she scoffed and started the engine.
“I’ll see you around, Kakarot. Don’t miss me too much.” She winked before revving the engine and jetting off, leaving him alone outside the bar in silence.
Kakarot was still a little pissed and annoyed that he wasn’t bringing her back to his place tonight, but he couldn’t deny that he didn’t mind the view of her leaving. She looked good on that bike, and it only made her even more attractive to Kakarot. He will have to keep his eye out for her for now on. They had unfinished business.
Moments later, the door opened, Yamcha walked out and whistled.
“Dude, what a night huh?” Yamcha said and Kakarot grunted. “Those cops really wanted to find that girl you were sitting with. They asked the bartender if they knew of her, which he didn’t until she made a break for it. Apparently, she’s an infamous arms dealer. Wanted by the Galactic Space Patrol for a bunch of crimes. I didn’t even know space cops existed so she have done something to get that attention. Especially since she’s from here.”
An Earthling who’s an arms dealer huh? Wait! Kakarot thought. Tensing, Kakarot quickly went to his armour to look for the map he kept in the same spot at all times to see if it was still there. Feeling his empty pocket, he growled. His hunch was right, she stole it from him.
Shit, she was good. Kakarot thought. She must have been scouting out people to take advantage of all night, and Kakarot was her latest victim. Now he has even more of a reason to find her, and he might not be so welcoming the next time he sees her. Kakarot needed that map, his life depended on it, so not getting it back as not an option. Little did Chi know, he was pretty good at tracking people down, especially someone who has something he wants.
Thinking about the exciting proposition ahead, Kakarot thought to himself.
I’ll definitely be seeing you again, Chi-Chi.

~!~
“Mm, smells good, Chi-Chi.”
With a huff, she turns around, hands brushing at her apron. “That’s the fifth time you’ve said that, Goku.”
He looks up at her, blinking blearily like he’s half-asleep. “But it’s true.”
“Are ya gonna eat it this time?”
Goku grimaces and buries his head back in his arms. He doesn’t answer. Probably because his stomach is bothering him. If she didn’t know any better, she would say he’s the one experiencing morning sickness. Which makes no sense to her because she’s the one that’s pregnant here.
Regardless, though, he must be sick with something since he won’t stop whining at the table while she tries to find something acceptable for his stomach. Anything spicy has already been ruled out, and as much as he devoured the rice and eggs, his stomach hadn’t been happy with those either. Considering how Goku is never picky with her food, this new problem has been quite an adventure.
So it’s not fair of her to snap at him. Even if she’s been busting her pregnant butt trying to please him and his suddenly picky stomach, it’s hard for her to hold back her annoyance. Maybe it’s the mood swings hitting her, maybe she’s just frustrated at having to do this all morning. She still needs to do her morning workouts, after all. Pregnant or not, she can’t forego those. Besides, exercise is good for the baby, and she’s plenty careful.
“Chi-Chi,” Goku whines. “I’m still hungry.”
“I know, Goku,” she responds, much softer and kinder this time. “Let’s see if your stomach can handle this. Just try to eat it slow this time, all right?”
“All right, I will.”
With a deep breath,Chi-Chi finishes working up a bowl of porridge and then steps over to the table to set it down next to her husband. He lifts his head, eyes staring at the food with a mix of hunger and trepidation. His stomach has betrayed him one too many times this morning. It’s no wonder he’s so down.
Frowning, she runs her fingers through his hair as he eats. Goku actually does what she’s suggested and spoons the porridge into his mouth slowly for once. His hums tell her that he’s enjoying the taste – or maybe the way she’s massaging his head and playing with his hair. Either way, she hopes this works for him.
“That feels good,” Goku murmurs in between bites. “On my stomach, I mean. I don’t think it’s so mad at me anymore.”
With a smile, Chi-Chi steps back and returns to the counter, prepared to make more for him, since he’ll no doubt want seconds and thirds if it stays in his belly this time. “That’s good. You had me worried, you know.”
“Heh. Sorry,” Goku says, life already returning to his voice at the prospect of getting to eat successfully. “Thanks, Chi-Chi. You always know the best ways to make me feel better, huh?”
“Well,” she blushes, the smile reaching all the way to her eyes. “I certainly do try to keep you happy, Goku.”
“You do a good job ‘cause I’m always happy with you.”

Title: First Time For Everything
~!~
Chi-Chi hums in bed, ready to curl up against her husband and fall asleep in gentle silence. Being close to him is something she’ll never get tired of. After so many years of waiting, after disappointment and frustration, here she is, here they are. So when they’re both in bed, she shifts over slightly to get closer to him -
- and for Goku to suddenly spring out of bed and start stretching. “Chi-Chi, I think I -”
“Goku,” she huffs, getting him to look over his shoulder at her. “Sit back down and come cuddle with me.”
He spins around but scratches the back of his head. “Huh? Cuddle? What’s that mean?”
A lengthy sigh escapes from her lips and Chi-Chi buries her face in the pillow on his side of the bed. Oh of all the… did he really have to be so clueless about these things? She understood his education didn’t really cover everything in life, all that “common sense” stuff that most people pick up from being around others. After all, Goku’s experience in the world has been very different from most people, so things that are common to others, may not be so obvious to him.
That didn’t mean he couldn’t learn, though. He could learn faster than anyone she knew. It just got tiring explaining things to him all the time.
“Sorry, Chi-Chi,” Goku murmurs, head tilting. “It’s something I’m supposed to already know, isn’t it?”
She shakes her head with a light smile. “Never mind all that. Just come lay back in bed with me and I’ll show you.”
“Oh,” he says, glancing around the room before turning back to her with a grin. “Okay, then.”
Once Goku’s back in bed, Chi-Chi rests her head against his bare chest and hums. He sounds a little confused at first, but eventually, as she rubs at his chest muscles and cuddles up close, he seems to get the idea. Thankfully, he doesn’t whine or complain about the position, like she half worried he might do since this was all new to him and he’d complained about her being clingy before…
Instead, Goku sets a hand on her back and begins to rub little circles of his own with his fingertips. She could feel him threading fingers through her hair and joining her in light humming. While she admires the chiseled muscles of his chest, he does the same for her curves, running all over her back, even sneaking under her nightgown to scratch lightly at her bare skin.
“So this -”
“Yes, Goku,” Chi-Chi murmurs, landing a small kiss on his abs. “This is cuddling.”
“Huh. I kinda like it,” Goku says just before he yawns. “But I’m getting sleepy.”
With a smile, she closes her eyes and continues to enjoy the feeling of resting in his arms. “That’s okay. I’ll see you in the morning, Goku.”
“Yeah. Good night.”
As they slowly drift into dreams, their fingers continue to touch each other, exploring over skin with light caresses. A nice, pleasurable way to fall asleep, and one that makes her giddy at realizing she has the strongest man in the world being such a softie under the sheets.

“Goku, this is the opposite of what I told you to do.”
“Huh?”
Chi-Chi closes her eyes, grinding her teeth as Goku leans in, closing the space between them in their bed. As she shoves him away, he whines, but he’s just going to have to live with the consequences of his actions. Chi-Chi whips a rigid finger toward the untidy pile of clothes on the floor, one item of which Goku should currently be wearing.
“What did you do?” she coaxes, in the same way she addresses her shame-faced children when they’ve made a mistake.
“Aw, Chi-Chi, I did what ya told me to…”
“What did you do?” she repeats through gnashing teeth. “Did you get dressed for bed?”
Goku laughs and rubs his head in that same old sheepish gesture which would usually make Chi-Chi giddy, but she isn’t feeling giddy at all right now. She’s quite tired of having to repeat herself more for her husband than her actual children.
“Kinda?” Goku says, his pitch rising as he shrugs and bares his teeth from his lean against the headboard, his wide grin apparent in the dim lighting. “Ya know I like t’sleep in the nude.”
“Goku!”
Unfettered by Chi-Chi’s fury, Goku leans in to claim Chi-Chi’s lips again. Chi-Chi smacks him in the head as she dodges his puckered lips, almost too late.
“No!” she snaps, folding her arms across her nightie as she raises her chin. “Not until you start learning to do what you’re s’pposed to. It’s inappropriate, Goku! What if one of the boys was t’walk in here?”
“They see me naked all the time.”
Chi-Chi feels her cheeks burn. “Not when you’re in bed with me, they don’t! I won’t be kissin’ you until you start to listen.”
“Wh-what?” Goku cries. The bed shakes with his reaction as he crawls closer, his clasped, pleading hands pressing against Chi-Chi’s arm. “Wait, no. Don't take kissing away from me.”
Chi-Chi harrumphs, raising her chin higher. “As if you even notice me anymore. If you can’t pay attention to me when I ask you to do a simple task, you can’t possibly pay attention to my lips.”
She knows he does pay attention, but she won’t admit it. He’s pouting at her side, which would be a clear indicator even if Chi-Chi didn’t notice the way Goku’s eyes linger on her whenever he thinks no one else is watching.
“I-I’ll be good,” Goku says, sliding away so the covers pull against Chi-Chi’s thighs.
She turns, opening one eye to see that Goku really is moving to do as he already should have. He bends and reaches for his boxers, the shadows from the light cast by Chi-Chi’s bedside lamp spilling into the crests and valleys of his muscular rear end as he moves. This view greatly improves Chi-Chi’s mood. She feels her heart rate quicken as she’s mesmerized by the changing form in the shadows as Goku rises with boxers in hand.
Chi-Chi clears her throat. “You’ll keep those on all night.”
“Yeah, okay,” Goku says, his voice deep and pouty, “but i’m cooler like this, Chi-Chi.”
Chi-Chi laughs and brushes from her eyes a cascade of dark hair as it falls loose from her updo. “I’m not tryin’ to make you uncomfortable. I just don’t want Gohan an’ Goten t’know what we get up to at night whe–”
“Ah well, they have t’find out eventually, don’t they?” Goku says as he flops back into the bed, boxers and all, making the sheets billow around him. He tilts his head to look back at Chi-Chi with wide eyes turned upside down. “I thought ya wanted Gohan t’get married like us, Chi-Chi.”
“I do! I–” Chi-Chi shakes her head and presses a hand to her flaming cheek. She refuses to acknowledge the lude prerequisites to her becoming a grandmother. “Let’s stop talking, Goku. It's time for bed.”
“Mm, okay,” Goku says with a wide yawn, his fists pressing toward the bedroom ceiling before air wafts over Chi-Chi’s skin. Goku is at her side again, seeking her gaze. “Does this mean I can kiss ya now?”
She doesn’t know how he does it, how he still manages it after everything he does wrong. But Goku makes Chi-Chi’s heart flutter when he smiles at her this way. His request is so innocent and precious. His eyes are only for her.
Silently, she nods, closes her eyes, and waits.
Goku’s kiss comes softly, not needy or demanding, not asking for anything more from her. It’s just Goku, letting Chi-Chi feel how much she means to him.
She sighs when their lips separate. “I love you.”
Goku slides beneath the sheets with a tired hum. “Love ya, too, Chi.”
Chi-Chi closes her eyes and slides in beside Goku. The bed is warm now, smelling of her fabric cleaner, Goku’s tussles with nature, and the fresh air Chi-Chi uses to dry her linens in the sun. It won’t be long before she fades into a perfect slumber beside the man she loves. She wiggles her feet beneath the sheets and freezes. Something is there, tangled with her toes. The moment she recognizes the fabric for what it is, Chi-Chi purses her lips and curls her fingers into her pillowcase.
She growls. “Goku…”
“Sorry, sorry,” Goku says with a nervous chuckle, wiggling frantically beneath the blankets. “I’ll put them back on. I don’t know how–”
“Oh, shut it and go to sleep!” Chi-Chi snaps.
Goku presses his head back into the mattress, making the bed dip and tilt as he raises his hips and shimmies back into his boxers. A throaty chuckle escapes him and breaks through the darkness as Chi-Chi switches off her bedside lamp. Chi-Chi growls, cutting off Goku’s laughter, which ebbs into a whimper. She turns her back to Goku and makes noise about punching and adjusting her pillow. He goes silent. As payback, she’s going to let him think she’s angry, as she should be. He can sweat it until the morning. But in the darkness where he can’t see her, Chi-Chi smiles silently to herself.
She’ll prepare a great, big breakfast at dawn to let Goku know all is forgiven.
