a long vent about sr series and the new sr game
will i get the new saints row? probably. if i see more footage of actual gameplay and maybe some more intros to the characters/city/gangs then sure! the trailer wasn’t terrible and it looks enjoyable, however.
in all honesty the game actually looks very fun and i will probably enjoy it, but not as a saints row game. i just wish they would’ve called it something else, because it geniunely just doesn’t feel like a saints row game at all.
the saints row series are about gangs, crime, destruction, sex, action, urban warfare etc. the trailer gave me a vibe of agents of mayhem but better and more of a free-to-roam game. i am devastated like everyone else, that we will not be seeing anymore of the old saints cast, which is completely understandable.
but people need to accept that everyone has different views about this. yes we are allowed to be disappointed with how it turned out, how they’re not going to go back to the old saints roots (probably ever again). many fans have been waiting for 8 bloody years for something (12 if you really dislike srtt & sr4) to do with either a remake of any games, reboot WITH the same storyline/characters or a continuation of any game (most likely one of the endings in gooh). people need to stop hating on older fans just because they wanted their favourite franchise to continue after such a long time, and for me the reveal felt like a punch in the stomach.
with that said, there’s also no reason to attack the game, anyone at deepsilver, volition and especially the fans that seemed to enjoy the trailer. the new game will just be different than other saints rows, and there’s that. nothing you can do about it. either enjoy it and let others enjoy it as well, or just stop caring but also stop spreading hate about it.
