“‘If people really knew me, they would not like me.’ Actually, this feeling is based not on what they find out about us but how. People dislike us for what they uncover not about us but about what we hide.” David Richo

They want you to blame your bad health on high cortisol, bad gut health, chemical imbalance, unclean diet, not getting up at 5am, not doing pilates, not doing enough self care etc etc so you dont start thinking it may be due to systematic issues such as being one paycheck away from homelessness, having no support system, being unable provide the minimum for a stable life (a house, food, leisure) for yourself anymore and knowing the government doesnt give a fuck about you
Under capitalism there will always be a booming wellness industry whose sole purpose is to gaslight you into thinking you can fix yourself so you dont start to look for the real root issue.
Your Tiktok algorithm will keep selling you new therapy healing courses, skin care and supplements with the promise that this next product will finally fix your mental health.
The real issue is that anxiety and depression are normal reactions of an aware and empathetic person to life in capitalism. Only a person who can dissociate themselves from their own feelings and the suffering of the people near them will survive unscathed.

Embroideries by women in the labor camps. For Ukrainian inmates embroidery became one of the ways to pass the time and leave something behind, often embroideries were addressed to their children and had religious themes like asking the guardian angel to look after their family. Embroideries were also used as gifts between prisoned women. But they had to be resourceful and inventive due to the lack of materials: old fabrics, pieces of prison clothes, even the insides of cables were used as threads, needles were made from fish bones, matches and pins.
Translation of the embroidered writings:
1) "My heart yearns for freedom"
2) "Oh Mother of God, free us from the prison"
3) "Guardian angel, I beg of you, guard my daughter Myrosia. Prison memory, 1949"
4) "Oh Mary, Mother of God, full of mercy, take my family under your mighty protection"
5) "Save Nusia from this prison! To keep the memory, from Olha'
6) "Oh Mother of God, I beg you, take my daughter under your protection. Don't leave her as an orphan. Prison memory, 1949"
