Once in a Blue Moon l AJ Smadi
Artemis II Lunar Flyby
Credit: NASA
My favorite part of the Artemis II crew live interview that look place on April 2nd shortly after their TLI burn that committed them to go to the moon.
They spoke from 30,000 miles away from the earth. At the peak of their lunar orbit, they will be farther away than any human has ever been.
And when they pass behind the far side of the moon, it will be in radio silence, cut off from all communication with the ground, the first people in five decades to lose sight of the earth.
But looking back at us-
"Trust us, you look amazing, you look beautiful."
My emotions about space travel, and the history of, are strong today.

The Artemis II crew filmed an 80s sitcom style video on their way to the Moon
Here's my unedited video of the Artemis II launch! I didn't get the best angle because honestly, I wanted to live in the moment and watch humans travel to the Moon without having to worry about my camera, but it still came out pretty neat. I'm gonna probably edit it into something that looks (and sounds) better later, but right now, please enjoy!
