What I find quite funny is how much Vertin has been through on this entire search for Urd. Like, after dealing with the entire storm of 1929 with her being shot on multiple occasions and going through the motions of Schneider's death, she was put into a coma as hostage for her friends to join the Foundation. Then after reliving her childhood trauma, where all she wanted was freedom which led to her creating friends with the same sentiment, getting shot by tear gas and ultimately leading friends to death to the storm as Constantine's plan worked. She was broken out by Lilya back to her team, had a small break, then sent out to Apeiron where she nearly drowned just getting there.
Sonetto was put on a death trial that her and 37 managed to save, got a bangle on her arm that will take her blood and burn her skin if she thinks of violence. Got her number revealed as zero and got told by 210 that she's doomed to be alone each time. Dealt with the Apeiron's test, got jumped by some Manus goons, fighting them off to let 37 escape, Sophia switching sides,met up with Arcana on a cliff and nuked her before watching all of the island residents accept their fate in a suicide pact, and take in a now traumatized 37.
Go on a mission with Lilya to the south of America to find Barbara, stumble upon a maid in danger and save her and be led to a Motel. Where shit hits the fan and she's suddenly working with a Butch mercenary who's trying to find her missing (girl)friend. Go through the horrors, get swallowed by the ground and get faced by your dead friends again. Persevere, find Lilya, get out of there.
Sau Paulo, Vertin gets there fine, accidentally lets out a succubus unknowingly. Gets on a ship that's filled with members of the brotherhood, Ship explodes, she nearly drowns(again) gets saved by Nala and Urd but is unconscious with a fever, she's taken back to the clinic where she nearly gets kidnapped alongside Urd but saved last minute. Wakes up not knowing the person she's been looking was right there, goes back to the mission, finds out the doctor is Urd, get letter, gets betrayed by Zeno and nearly die from getting choked to death by Nala, persevere with shooting the toy with an inch of her life. Another traumatized teenager added to her team(Lopera), gets out of Sau Paulo with her original mission failed.
Sea breeze, Vertin gets on another ship(when will she learn) after reading a pamphlet that has the same poem that caused the Parade incident, the Manus is there of course. Grace is there and practically gaslights people that there's a storm, people panic, manipulate Fatutu's tribe and in the end they did. Thrown into temporary jail, she's taunted by Grace some more before Ulrich and Regulus do their thing and the "storm" finally ends.
Panopticon time, Vertin goes with Sonetto to find traces of Urd, meets with a girl name Recoleta and goes into the prison. They investigate the place before finally reaching Merlin, finds out about the truth of the entire panopticon, the dice and all of that, Recoleta practically commits suicide in front of them, gets revived(thankfully) and they get information from Aleph of Urd's whereabouts, they get out of there as the entire prison turns to ablaze and everyone enjoys their final moments of life.
The Antarctica mission. Both Vertin and Sonetto lands on Antarctica, meets a very mentally unstable person (Nautika) that soon decides to come along with them. Learns the haunting truth of what happens to the researchers, Vertin drives a snowmobile and crashes it, goes into a research base with a dead person inside that has Urd's stethoscope wrapped around his neck, Nautika crashes out more and more, Antarctica isn't normal anymore. Attacked by sled dogs and Manus ollitiaus, their snowmobile explodes but soon the dogs became their companion, find Urd's typewriter with strange powder and blood, lost in a labyrinth with their sled dogs going forward with Ms.Radio, persevere and overcome, she sees a glimpse of Urd again. Finally reaches the cave, falls through the floor with Sonetto, meets the moth, and is led to the Manus base. Tried to sneak in but ultimately failed, Ms Grace is now too weak and bad to be placed in the suitcase, Vertin tries to think of another way inside, Nautika commits suicide Infront of them to open the gate. They finally get inside the cave, Sonetto faces off with Sophia and leaves Vertin to make a run for it. She gets a flashback of Urd again and goes through another round of PTSD before waking up with Urd Infront of her, tries to get her to come with them but she lightly declines to continue her duty. Arcana gets revived, Vertin sees her mother get thrown into the gate(I think) she then proceeds to die, gets another round of PTSD and encouraging her to pass on, she perseveres and finds Nautika. Gets out of the gate with the now Chimera Nautika and fight off the Manus, tries to stop the ritual, doesn't work, she then tries to find Urd again. She does but there was no way of getting her out, gets the wheel but sees her mother die right in front of her with her hand being cut by the thread, she nearly drowns again. Gets saved, sees the storm and finally goes back.
That's not all the details but this Timekeeper has been through the wringer hell and back, and future chapters are sure to continue the tradition of screwing her over 😭.
