Silence of then night breached by the distant rustles, alertness rooted within the trained physique of the brunet as he immediately pivoted towards where it whence came from. He had traversed from the borders to the less commonly used entrance of the realm. Whilst he still knows little of the paths that are splayed in this region of Mirkwood, his tracking skills remained sharp and honed.

With great caution as seen with the evenly measured steps, even with his gaze fixated to where he aims for, he is able to avoid stray twigs and loose rocks. Until, the trees thinned and there stood a familiar frame.

”Legolas—.” Even with the back turned to him, immediate is the recognition upon the elven archer.

❝Aye,❞ instantly responding to his name; the archer did not even take precaution or intuitive interest in whom chose to address him. Choosing to act causal or formal was an intricate gamble between himself and the fellow warriors of Mirkwood. Keeping an overall dignified presence over vulnerable, quiet onlooker is expected of his lineage. However, he is not so overbearing and is prone to moments of renounced silence. Dazed visage still ensnared across his passive stance, the elven prince of the Woodland Realm felt his attention being pulled toward the guest. As his mind caught up to the familiarity of the pitch, that exasperated expression dissolved. In its place remained sentiment, the ecstatic relief of being able to see this ranger. Though, he'd wished to be more prepared in his formal greeting. ❝Melon, it is good to see you walk alongside the trees of the Greenwood once more. It clears the rainfall from this laden heart of mine,❞ offering a meek curve of his placid lips in the direction of the brunet. Strands of elongated locks of woven gold cascaded over the arc of his shoulder-blades; each stride brought him closer to the form of his closest human companion. ❝You look as if you have seen a --phantom, is it?❞ Never too keen on human euphemisms and metaphors, he shifted his weight in an almost timid aspect. Solemnity has evaporated from the aura; perhaps too much time in the infamous Mirkwood had dampened his alight spirit. Such an essence was not befitting of the elf prince, it is good that the man has chosen to come. Fate, as some may say; grinned in his favor.

Time to stretch these legs, for they are far too cramped and uncomfortable to remain immobile a second longer. Light-feather heels grazing upon the ground, the inaudible steps led him through the new shade of darkness. Dusk was an hour passed, but the nighttime is still crisp and born anew. Inhaling smoothly, his optics narrowed at the favorable thinned crown of trees in the backdrop. Funny, he'd imagined more had been here prior to his semi-leisurely stroll down the forgotten path of the Western entrance of Mirkwood. Angling his head to the side, the broad of his palm rested atop of his collarbone. This weather made even the most nimble of the Eledhrim feel stiff and desire slumber. ❝Nin harthaan echuir tolas,❞ an inaudible murmur to no one in particular.

From the shadows emerged the ranger, swathed in his usual garments that enabled him to blend almost with the wilderness. “Nay, you need not worry.” The assurance parted from the lips of the brunet, tone possibly softer than usual due to his own weariness, but he is relieved to see the archer has returned, safe and well. Whilst he harbored no doubt in the elven prince’s prowess in acts of battle and survival, it is only natural to care about his wellbeing. “Mae athollen, Legolas.” Expression softened as it trailed to meet that of the fairer male’s.

Sensing that someone had situated themselves nearby, observing him; he had not made motion to acknowledge their presence lest it was more to their liking to slink away in the shadows. It is not uncommon for thine Elvenking to send one light-footed traveler to seek out the prince's location. But it is sheer ignorance to believe that the other was inept to notice as he is being trailed. Prolonged exhale faltering from his lips, the vocalization eliminated some of the imbued weight that had sunken itself onto the perch of his shoulder. No matter how adept one is in the wilderness, no matter how wise or experienced they wielded their weapon; it is still natural to hold an obligation for their overall wellbeing. Aragorn is concerned, and with the abnormality of his actions, the archer could comprehend just as to why. The young man, once petite child-- had been raised alongside the Eledrim of Imlandris. He'd known what it was like to see an elf as they'd gone through mourning or some equally tantalizing emotional upheaval. It is unlike his kin to lament, but when they could not escape that impenetrable net it is-- obvious. ❝Iston,❞ his monotone voice responded in mere murmur, almost lost to the misted breath as he slid up the hem of his hood to cover his visage. Aragorn had much to sift through on his own accord. It is-- selfish to place his burdens atop of another man who is just as encumbered as he. ❝Ni 'lassui, Aragorn.❞ Those affirmed lips quirked upward in an attempted smile; lightly shown like the florescent radiance upon a dying star. He is old, and yet he is acting such a child and also akin to a pile of ancient, withered bones at the exact same time. These intervals are intricate, and difficult to deduce, ❝I apologize, my mind has been wandering as of late,❞ the confession is naught. No new information, no insight. ❝Although the body is stationary, the conscience lingers. Is it odd, do humans feel much the same--?❞ For time is hastened and ebbing for an elf, these thoughts are rapid and continuos. Endless vortex, constant and vacant.
