The ups and downs.

When I decided to title this album We’ve Done Something Wonderful, what I was intending is that the 'we' is all of us, all of us in the world, anyone's that’s existing or has existed. I just want to say that, even during the downs, what you're doing is wonderful. What've you've done is wonderful, which is living and surviving and breathing. All of that is wonderful, regardless of what medal they pin to you. I just want to say that living is a hard thing to do, and anybody that’s doing it and struggling through it, you've done something wonderful. [...] Yes, living is a hard thing to do, because just existing, you know, you beat a lot of odds to just exist.

How was working with Jongwan?

Jongwan is one of my best friends, so it's very easy working with him. The two of us – I don't know if you know, but Jongwan of Nell and I, we have our own group. It's called Borderline. It's the two of us. We have a name for it and everything, and we've always talked about releasing an album together, but it just hasn't happened yet. But there are a lot of Borderline songs, songs that we've done together, we've made together. So, I mean, if you like the songs that we do together, one day, when we get around to putting out Borderline's first whatever project, I'm sure you're going to like it. We'll try to get around to it.

There was this festival called ‘Triport Festival’ in Incheon and so we went to see it. On the first day, it rained heavily, so we thought we’d return to our dorm and rest. After we rested, all four of us went to a PC room back then. We wanted to changed the band’s name and then we thought about what we should change it to. What came to my mind then was this movie ‘Nell’ that we just watched. It had a good feeling and we thought the content, as well as the tone of the movie, fit our music well. So that’s how we decided on our band’s name: at a PC room in Incheon. (x)

Also, on YHY Sketchbook, Junghoon mentioned that they came up with the name Nell in August 1999. (x)

Triport Festival 1999 was held Saturday July 31 – Sunday August 1.

so, one of my best friends is a rock star. literally. he has a band called nell, and he liked counting pulses so much that he used it as a title for one of his songs. and the song fits in perfectly with the story. check it out.
