we should make fun of americans more. why dont their shops include tax in the price tag. like how much does this item cost? its a surprise :)
Honestly, tea. I’ve lived here my whole life and I have never once known what my total is gonna be at the register. Total fucking mystery.
im an ex-american living in new zealand for the past two years and it still never fails to blow my mind that i can take a $2 coin, walk up to a counter with two $1 items, and perform the expected transaction
this callout is completely deserved
Me, crouched in front of the used games section for two hours:-
“[I]t is actually more expensive to be poor than not poor. If you can’t afford the first month’s rent and security deposit you need in order to rent an apartment, you may get stuck in an overpriced residential motel. If you don’t have a kitchen or even a refrigerator and microwave, you will find yourself falling back on convenience store food, which — in addition to its nutritional deficits — is also alarmingly overpriced. If you need a loan, as most poor people eventually do, you will end up paying an interest rate many times more than what a more affluent borrower would be charged. To be poor — especially with children to support and care for — is a perpetual high-wire act.”

I about died laughing recently when my mom brought out my old elementary school stuff to look at because I completely forgot this was in my Twitter bio.
(Also, follow my Twitter because I don’t use Tumblr worth a dog ass anymore)
From Wikipedia:
Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte (Spanish for Our Lady of Holy Death), often shortened to Santa Muerte, is a female deity or folk saint in Mexican and Mexican-American folk Catholicism. A personification of death, she is associated with healing, protection, and safe delivery to the afterlife by her devotees. Despite condemnation by the Catholic Church, her cult has become increasingly prominent since the 2000s.
The worship of Santa Muerte is condemned by the Catholic Church in Mexico as invalid, but it is increasingly firmly entrenched in Mexican culture.
Santa Muerte is also seen as a protector of homosexual, bisexual, and transgender communities in Mexico, since many are considered to be outcast from society. Many LGBT people ask her for protection from violence, hatred, disease, and to help them in their search for love.
Her intercession is commonly invoked in same-sex marriage ceremonies performed in Mexico. The Iglesia Católica Tradicional México-Estados Unidos, also known as the Church of Santa Muerte, recognizes gay marriage and performs religious wedding ceremonies for homosexual couples.
Man how did I not know about this magical gay skeleton queen until today?

Morris Rush [EXPLORED #6] by Travis Rhoads Via Flickr: While not really part of my "Rush" series, it was shot with the same concepts in mind...one of my favorite elements when I am shooting at the beach is a 2-3 second exposure of the incoming water on the beach. It works the best when the tide is rising, and Sunday night, the tide was rising. It was set to be high tide around sunset. When I arrived at the north end of the island, there was a wedding just wrapping up in this location, the bride and groom doing formal photos in the boneyard of trees. Once they were gone, I came back over to this spot and setup for the rest of the evening. This end of the island looks a lot different than the last time I was there, but these trees are so stubborn, they won't give up their hold on the sandy beach.
Good and Evil by Inka Sinclair Via Flickr: Lupins at sunset in Lake Tekapo. The lupins are beautiful and certainly provide increased tourism to the area. However, they are also an invasive plant species that have detrimental environmental impacts. Their ability to transform the landscape though is truly unsurpassed.
