how it feels talking on here
The fact that you can’t raise taxes on billionaires even slightly without them pouring money into fascist political movements is, of itself, evidence that billionaires as a class shouldn’t be allowed to exist in the first place.
I’d just like to point out that every single thing that has happened in the 6 years since I created this post has only reinscribed its absolute moral correctness in my mind.
gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem
girls are contributing, too. the coquette aesthetic, the “i don’t want to girlboss i want a man to pay my bills”, girlmath girljob girlmoney. it’s a joke, it’s clothes, it’s whatever, i get it but it is driving a mentality of traditional gender roles and you know you’re joking but your boyfriend doesn’t. your kid brother doesn’t. you have to stop this shit it is a contributing factor
Toxic masculinity is caused by misogyny. You guys know that right? That anything outside of a small box is considered feminine and therefore bad? It's not "let men be healthily masculine!" Its "stop viewing femininity as weakness"
Stockpile HRT now.
Edit: so a lot of people are trying to be "helpful" and point things out, so here's some thoughts.
Yes, testosterone is a controlled substance. Yes, there are limits to how much you can have in reserve.
Does anyone on T not know that?
I'm not encouraging you to do anything illegal. Know those limits or your own safety. Store as many doses as you feel comfortable with to weather your through 1 or 2 temporary lapses. Know your own safety and laws.
I get mildly irritated at people pointing this out over, and over, and over again, because do you think that people don't know? Do you think that people aren't scared? All you're doing is twisting the knife that my transmasc brothers don't have access to security in their medication. Are you pointing this out because you legitimately think they don't know, or because the mere thought of people doing things outside of the "proper" mechanisms gives you an ick?
The other point of clarification (that I have said several times) is that no, I do not think that we will be put in camps. I do not think HRT will be banned.
I almost know for certain, however, that there will be protracted legal battles and bureaucratic BS that will disrupt access in a very practical sense.
"Stockpile HRT" is not me being some kind of trans doomsday prepper expecting everything to fall down. It's me telling you that things are going to be okay, but they're going to be complicated and inconsistent, and if you're on medication that needs to be taken as a steady state, you need to be able to bridge those gaps.
And yes, as I have also posted several times, this applies to birth control as well.
I'm probably going to write a more thorough list of my thoughts and advice on the matter soon, but both of these are popping up way too much in my notes to go unaddressed.
Reblog this version, okay?
Sylvia Rivera calling out gays and lesbians for their trans exclusion in 1973 at the Christopher Street Liberation Day rally (x)
Still relevant
And if I’m not mistaken, Sylvia Rivera was *specifically* addressing WHITE gays and white feminists here. She called out these middle/upper class white folks who strove only for assimilation while neglecting Black and brown LGBT people who were poor and struggling and languishing in prison. White Gays and feminists didn’t like the way revolutionary figures like Sylvia were “rocking the boat”
Specification is important here because antiblackness and racism are still rampant in the LGBT community and Black + brown LGBT folks have had to make communities of our own because white LGBT people ostracize us.
Specifically she was calling out both the Women’s Liberation Front and LGBT community, both of which were present in the crowd. (Both movements supported each other as both communities were deeply invested in the turnout of the 1973 ruling on Roe v Wade).
And she was calling them out because she had to TAKE the mic. They were booing her. They didn’t want to see the trans and genderqueer faces of the people who started the movement and then put their entire lives on the line for it. After throwing the first bricks, cis gays and lesbians were happy to discard and forget that it was trans women and folk in drag who threw them.
And that is the context of this.

i was at a restaurant last week, watching the political ads on the TV between sports games. one from the trump campaign ended with the slogan “kamala is for they/them. trump is for you”. it was vilely clever - and it made a clear statement about who was the enemy, the other, the unwelcome, in trump’s great america. i thought about how the right had gone all-in on transphobia this election season, and i hoped it was a gamble that would cost them.
this week has been a gut punch, and i’ve been feeling a lot of things - rage, fear, grief, and subspecies of those emotions. what i kept coming back to, though, as i digested these feelings, were the people i love. my queer friends. the trans kids in my community. the people who, already, are losing their rights to bodily autonomy, state-by-state. the way that i’ve had to start looking at our country as a fucked up patchwork of safe and not-safe. the way that access to medical care, increasingly, changes depending on which side of an arbitrary border you’re on. i’m also realizing the ignorance and privilege it is to only think of our country this way, now. america has always been about picking and choosing who deserves rights, who we consider a person. but, despite the deep-seated flaws of this country, i live in it. so do so many people i love. and that’s what I keep coming back to: the people i love, and my desire to protect them. at the very center of all the rage and hurt and anxiety and sorrow i’m feeling, is a deep, perilous love. i am holding onto that love. i hope you are, too.
surprise! i turned this into a sticker!! a sticker which i will be selling and donating 100% of the profits from to Trans Continental Pipeline, a local mutual aid group that helps trans americans relocate to colorado (a relatively safe state) from less safe states. they've had a huge increase in aid requests since the election and offer a ton of incredible services to people relocating to the state, including moving grants and providing temporary accommodations, help with finding jobs, housing, mental and other health care, and a network of peers and community.
i'm offering a preorder on the stickers at the moment, to gauge how many i should buy. i will continue to sell (and donate the profits of) extra stickers after they're ordered, so this isn't your only chance to get them, but now is a great time to support a good cause and get a sticker (in 2-3 weeks time)! the best news is, the more stickers people order, the larger a percentage of the price we can donate to TCP.
listed on my shop here!
[ID: The first image shows a drawing of a white, winged unicorn with a rainbow mane standing protectively over a younger white unicorn with a blue and pink mane, which is curled up and resting on the ground. Both have their eyes closed, and they are against a backdrop of plants and flowers. The second image shows the same drawing now on a circular canvas, with the text "Protect Trans Kids" added in rainbow letters over the unicorns. End ID.]
we've raised almost $1500 in just 5 days! i absolutely can't believe it, i'm so grateful for everyone who's ordered and the chance to work together with y'all to make this fundraiser happen <3 i placed my sticker order early once we blew past 250 sold, so they'll be arriving sometime next week and i'll be able to start sending out orders soon!!
Actually I'm gonna speak on it lol
there are MANY transfem dykes both overall in the lesbian community as well as the stud/butch/femme community. Let's all put more effort to show support to the transfem community as they are constantly ignored, dismissed, and left out of conversations regarding lesbianism. ESPECIALLY when we try to talk about lesbian gender.
people aren't ready to admit this but we tme (trans misogyny exempt- yes including those who are trans themselves) people in lesbian spaces tend to extend open arms and praise for transmascs but it ends as soon as someone is transfem. And I need you to PAUSE HERE. I'm not saying transmascs don't face a lot of hate and transphobia in the lesbian community, they absolutely do just look at any lesbian tiktok and their comments section. But let's not pretend that trans women are even brought up or considered in conversations because whether people want to pretend and ignore this or not, they are seen as outsiders and are seen as not "real" lesbians by us, as well as not a valid form of womanhood and experience. Like, there are people who will discredit someone's lesbianism if they are dating a trans woman, and we need to take a step back and recognize how messed up it all is. This is not new, this has been happening for a long time but we don't hear trans women when they speak on it. Let's listen to trans women and put more effort to be inclusive of them, they deserve to be just as celebrated as everyone else.
Even subconsciously, transfems are completely not considered in a lot of ways we view our community (in this case being lesbian studbutchfemme Tumblr) they are pushed aside by us, told to take up less space, FORGOTTEN. Not to mention we then tell them not to not complain about the scraps they are given and it's such bullshit honestly.
Like, just look at the people who get mad at terms like tme/tma. Look at any post praising and trying to uplift butches, and look at how they will list every type of category of person and then will leave out transfems completely. Not only that, but they often exclude studs from the table so they won't even bother trying to include transfem studs...Its always support trans butches and then when they expand on that, they start listening transmasc experiences ONLY. Its going on T it's getting top surgery it's he/him lesbians- etc etc.. we can't forget about she/her trans fem butches and studs who's masculinity doesn't negate their womanhood. We can't forget about trans fem butches, studs, and even femmes who are left out when we try to uplift transgender people in our community.
sometimes, it's not intentional so before people get defensive- just listen.
I want you to know that I get that, but it just shows how deep rooted trans misogyny is. we are so quick to be defensive when people point it out, so it's hard for any change to happen at all. We all have a very narrow view on what trans misogyny looks like, it's not just violent direct hatred towards trans women, it's even indirect things like leaving them out of conversations, losing interest once we learn someone is transfem, it's assuming every trans butch and stud is transmasc, it's thinking transfems are predatory and taking away space from others, it's using othering language like "male/female socialization", it's so many things. Too many things.
I don't really know what to end with but I just encourage those who want to be better, to start working internally on how we view our community. Stop limiting our views of lesbian genders to one experience, transfems and trans women in general have always been here and always will be. It starts with you, all I ask is that you take a moment to consider the way you think about our community and try to put in more of an effort to not overlook trans women from here on out.
I am hoping by me planting little seeds of awareness into all of you, that it helps you realize you are being trans misogynistic more often than you think. It might be shocking, it might make you feel guilty, but just take it as an opportunity to change for the better. Sit with your discomfort and make steps to improve.

You know what trans liberation is?
It's not trans people being allowed to serve in the military, or work as cops. It's not trans judges. It's not creating Byzantine, draconian pathways to medicines and procedures and name changes. It's not Joe Biden entertaining wealthy trans people at the White House, or your State Governor appearing with a few trans people when they sign a bill. It's not trans lawmakers.
You know what trans liberation is?
It's the decriminalization of trans existence. It's the 5 Black trans women in Milwaukee, WI who should all still be alive. It's the demedicalization of trans bodies, with free and easy access to the medical science created to serve people like us. It's community organizing. It's dismantling capitalism, so trans people do have to choose between hormones and rent. It's the elimination of rent. It's letting people do what they want with their bodies, when they want, and how they want.
We will never have trans liberation in a neoliberal, White supremacist, cishetero imperialist patriarchy.
The systems must change. This new world must, at all costs, be born.
We can start now.
