CHAPTER 49 SPOILERS ARE HAPPENING!!!

Doumeki is carrying Yashiro like he’s done so many times before except this time Yashiro is awake for it. I love the push/pull between them, Yashiro holding on but then trying to push Doumeki away but Doumeki isn’t having it.

They can’t keep their hands off each other

This chapter isn’t one of those “big reveal” chapters where you get slapped in the face with information, like the previous one where we learned about Yashiro’s impotence. This chapter is more subtle; however, there’s some great takeaways from it, the main one being that both Doumeki’s and Yashiro’s masks are cracking and, despite themselves, they’re starting to show just how much they want each other.

What I love the most is all the touching and dragging around.

Doumeki drags Yashiro by the hand at Tsunakawa’s place and Yashiro pulls away, irritated, asking “Do you think I’m going to run away?” Doumeki responds with “You did so before,” remembering how Yashiro pointed a gun at him in chapter 33 then ran off to deal with Hirata. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. Why? Because Doumeki still cares. He’s worried about Yashiro, and doesn’t want him to run off into danger again. Yashiro tells Doumeki that he forgot about that incident but, to himself, he admits that he remembers everything he’s done. OMG is Yashiro feeling guilty? Contrite? That is growth! Old Volume One Yashiro wouldn’t give a single fuck about those kinds of things, that was just business. He threw old flames away as soon as they developed feelings, but Doumeki is still here, there’s history between them, and Yashiro has all kinds of tangled emotions about that.

The proof of those emotions comes later in the chapter, when Doumeki puts Yashiro under protection. After a meeting at Tsunakwa’s, there’s a worry that this whole situation is more dangerous than it seems, there are things lurking that haven’t fully come to light and that this isn’t just about money. Yashiro is asked who he wants as a bodyguard, Doumeki or Kamiya, and Yashiro blithely says either of them, because sometimes he’s still Old Yashiro and likes to play games. Doumeki calls him out on it by putting Kamiya in charge.

On the car ride back to his apartment, Yashiro enjoys torturing Kamiya (who is ofc driving bc Yashiro drives like shit.) He tells Kamiya that if he tattles about anything he hears to Tsunakawa, Yashiro will strip him and make him is fuckbuddy ajklshas I live for any interaction between them. Kamiya thinks he’s The Man and watching Yashiro bat him around is priceless. 

But Yashiro does not want Kamiya as his bodyguard. He wants Doumeki. And he acts rashly. 

He throws Kamiya out of the door and grabs Doumeki, dragging him along, just the way he did in chapter 20 when he realized that Doumeki had narrowly escaped death. Both then and now, Yashiro’s feelings for Doumeki overwhelmed him and he lost his chess-ability thinking, lost his mask, and went straight to his lizard brain. He wants Doumeki and he’s going to show it!

To be honest, there’s been a lot of touching since chapter 44 and it’s all beginning to boil over. From the shower scene, to Doumeki pulling Yashiro away from Inami and that steamy sexiness in Yashiro’s apartment, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. And now they’re dragging each other around in overly-familiar ways? Brilliant. 

After Yashiro’s little hissy fit about what bodyguard he wants, Doumeki puts his gloved hand over Yashiro’s by the elevator buttons and leans in behind him, telling him “I’ll be back” and for some reason the entire thing is sexual af (like, srsly, look how close he’s standing ajsgakjgk) Yashiro is visibly shook; there are those emotions again. But let’s talk about Doumeki’s emotions for a moment too. He uses Anata when speaking with Yashiro, and says that his ability to gather intel will never be as strong as Yashiro’s. Those are both very kind things, repsectful. Despite his poker face, Doumeki still cares so much. He even makes sure to tell Yashiro that he will come back, but first he has to pick up a weapon (that is not his dick.) He also asks about Inami and WE ALL KNOW that there’s a bunch of jealousy in there.

Hopefully, once Doumeki comes back, we will have some Forced Proximity. The two of them alone in Yashiro’s apartment? Or another location? With only one bad? Doumeki protecting him? They will be forced to talk? And maybe feelings will come out? And touching? P L E A S E

A few other things:

-I love that the cover for this chapter has them side-by-side, not one following the other, or one hovering slightly behind, but together. As equals. And they need to be equals for their relationship to work.

-If you’re looking for some Reverse Dynamic in this chapter, Yashiro stares at the back of Doumeki’s neck, pining, just as Doumeki did with Yashiro in chapter 7. I saw those frames and it immediately brought me back.

-There is some link between Doushinkai and Okuyama’s group and Okuyama is an unstable factor with an axe to grind over Doumeki un-kidnapping Tsunakawa’s daughter so that’s probably why there IS more to this than money.

Chapter 48

"Pretend Nothing Happened"

Doumeki brings Yashiro back to Tsunakawa's and he's not at all subtle about how important it is that he comes with him.

Yashiro gets angry because Doumeki is holding him too tightly and being too rough. Doumeki comments that he can't put a leash on Yashiro, so this will have to do.

Yashiro yanks his hand away, scolding Doumeki for treating him like a little kid because it's not like he's going to run away!

Doumeki mentions that it wouldn't be the first time Yashiro has run off and left him behind. 

Yashiro remembers the time in the warehouse when he held a gun to Doumeki's head. Yashiro lies saying he doesn't remember very much about that. Doumeki, however, will never forget it. Yashiro tells us that what he does remember is everything Doumeki did and said.

Kamiya is waiting for them to arrive and Yashiro jokes that it must be Kamiya that missed him and wanted to see him so much. Kamiya brings them to talk to Muraji who asks Yashiro to step away from going after Okuyama, since the whole matter concerns their family.

Yashiro tells him that family squabbles don't bother him so he'll stay in. When Muraji asks if Yashiro's involvement isn't all about money, Yashiro plays coy and doesn't admit his interest.

Muraji explains that Okuyama and the Ryuuzu are operating under Kyouseikai which has a relationship with Doushinkai. Muraji's concern is that it may cause problems for them with Misumi if Yashiro is involved, seeing as Yashiro is  Misumi's right-hand man. Muraji calls Yashiro Misumi’s futokoro-gatana (basically, the short-blade that samurai carry to finish off a friend when they commit seppuku. They were held in a pocket inside the kimono folds. The person you trust so completely they would end your suffering.) Yashiro turns this into a dick joke, Misumi's pocket sword.

Yashiro explains to Muraji that he's not actually Misumi's right-hand man. Misumi will sometimes ask him for favors or to run errands but that's the extent of it. (Though Yashiro thinks these little errands of Misumi's are just to keep him tethered to the Yakuza.) Yashiro's current freedom allows him to move around which makes his involvement less concerning. Muraji asks about Yashiro meeting with the detective (Inami) and Yashiro confirms that it's for information and sex. Muraji asks him once again to step away. Yashiro says no. Muraji asks if he has any new information. Yashiro says let me join you and find out.

Much to everyone's chagrin, Muraji agrees, however, if anything were to happen to Yashiro, it would not look good on him since Misumi and Tsunakawa are friends. So Yashiro must agree to have a bodyguard and he can choose Doumeki or Kamiya. Yashiro says "Whichever."

Doumeki volunteers....KAMIYA! 

Doumeki says it will be better if he's able to move around freely.

Kamiya is crazy excited to be Yashiro’s bodyguard! Yashiro is equally put-out that a such a distinguished guest as himself should be left with a sub-par bodyguard like Kamiya! He is appalled that this is the extent of Misumi’s influence! 

Kamiya says that it should be Doumeki guarding Yashiro since they know each other, and that since Yashiro came along, Doumeki hasn’t been acting like himself. Kamiya admits that he’s troubled by this and lets it slip that he will have to report it to his boss. 

This slip up is not lost on Yashiro who asks Kamiya what exactly he plans on telling his boss. And if Kamiya tells his boss anything about him then Yashiro will strip Kamiya down and fuck him. 

Sadly there is no image, but off-screen, Yashiro bites Kamiya’s ear, and almost causes Kamiya to crash the car. 

When they arrive at Yashiro’s, Doumeki is waiting for them. 

He asks how they managed to leave before him and still arrive after him. Kamiya says they had to make a cigarette run at a convenience store. Way to go, Yashiro, you already have Kamiya doing a true subordinate’s duties. Doumeki gives Kamiya a black bag and tells him he forgot this. Inside is a weapon that Muraji wanted Kamiya to keep with him to defend Yashiro. Kamiya is even less excited about having a gun than he is to be Yashiro’s boytoy bodyguard for the night.

Doumeki asks Yashiro if he knew about Okuyama and Doushinkai all along. Yashiro says he knew about the groups, but not how they were connected to Tsunakawa. Yashiro had learned from Misumi that Yamakawa (that guy everyone is after!) was kidnapped and he learned from Inami that Kido was involved. Doumeki knows everything else since then, because they all went chasing after Kido and ultimately met up. Yashiro doesn’t know what connection Yamakawa has with Okuyama. (this explains why Yashiro went after Kido in the first place. Yamakawa must be an important son of someone, and it must have been a personal request from Misumi.)

Doumeki lets out a heavy sigh and admits defeat. He’s never been a match for Yashiro. The information game has always been Yashiro’s best played hand. 

Doumeki decides to leave, and asks Kamiya to take good care of Yashiro. Yashiro, in a rash act of panic, tells Doumeki, “You’re better.” 

The following pages are left in their entirety because there are just not enough words...

Yashiro pulls Doumeki into the elevator. He’s made his choice. He wants Doumeki. Doumeki is the person he deserves to guard him. 

Whether it was nerves or bad eye problems, Yashiro doesn’t close the door. Doumeki presses the button keep them open. 

“I’m going to go...”

“...and get that bag I brought.”

“Why did you say ‘Kamiya? I thought you said I was supposed to put up with you?”

“You have Inami.”

“Me and that guy... nevermind...”

"Hurry up. Go!”

There are always other ways to interpret stuff and I could be so far off the mark that the entire story changes. Yashiro’s reaction seems like Doumeki is done and walking away, not coming straight back to be his bodyguard. So depending on what the true translation turns out to be, things will still end up this way because there is obvious tension. Yashiro’s inability to just SAY IT!!!!!! is still getting in the way. Doumeki softened just enough for Yashiro to see the Doumeki he’s been missing, needing, wanting to show up! 

Doumeki, sweetie... please don’t bring a gun to Yashiro’s place! 

As much as I want Doumeki to take that express elevator to LOVE! I would really love seeing Nanahara staring down at Kamiya who has just spent the night on Yashiro’s sofa. Nanahara might have to dust off the boxing gloves and have a go!

Chapter 49 will be released in Japan on May 31st!!!!!

Hello Anon, and to all the other Anons who asked for a summary! Welcome to Chapter 46... abridged!

Spoilers beyond this point!!!

Our story begins where we left off... I would like to just thank Yoneda Kou for just ignoring Inami's existence and not even showing his perplexed expression when Doumeki hauls Yashiro off.

Yashiro can't believe it either, and this is the most self-satisfied face I've ever seen on Doumeki.

This chapter is chock full of wallpapers and phone lock screens. I hope this shot gets made into a poster!

Yashiro and Doumeki have a stare down as they discuss what floor Yashiro lives on and how Doumeki wouldn't mind doing it in the elevator, but the doors could open any minute and after all, other people live here!!! So Yashiro relents and tells him he lives on Floor 36 (for those of you keeping score!)

Tall much?? The height difference kink has ticked up to 11.

As fate would have it, someone does get on the elevator, and Yashiro has a pop-up fantasy of kissing Doumeki...

She is every one of us....

Yashiro is confused at why he is having these little bouts of romantic fantasy, and he tells Doumeki to stop staring at him because it isn’t helping his situation.

Yashiro has so many great faces in this chapter.

They get to Yashiro’s door and he has some trouble getting the key to go in, and when Doumeki offers to help, Yashiro ignores him. Is it his eyesight? Or the fact that he's about to have sex with Doumeki after 4 years? Once they enter Yashiro's place, Yashiro removes his shoes and Doumeki asks where the bed is. Yashiro very casually (almost like a home tour) points to where his bed is located. Doumeki grabs him by the arm and tosses him on the bed.

Doumeki is a little less violent than Misumi had been but they are about the same thing: Get Yashiro out of his clothes. 

Doumeki is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Sex-Fiend!!!

Yashiro tells him he doesn't care if he's dressed or not but Doumeki wants a Yashiro refresher!

Yashiro notices that Doumeki is different than he was before. Perhaps a little more skilled in some things... which makes Yashiro believe he must have had a woman in the last 4 years. And because Yashiro is now plagued with pop-up fantasies, he gets an image of the LUCKIEST WOMAN IN SAEZURU!!! 

Doumeki’s fantasy woman gets more action than Yashiro does now!  

But this fantasy doesn’t turn Yashiro on the way it used to so he fights back... 

But despite his “efforts” to stop Doumeki (you’d swear Yashiro has never kicked someone before...use those legs to do more than just wrap around Doumeki’s waist!!!) Yashiro cums and Doumeki notes that Yashiro came a lot, as if he wasn’t out there having sex non-stop like he used to. Hmmm..... I wonder if there are any clues? Any hints? No? None???? None at all???

Yashiro quips that Doumeki must have a woman, right? and Doumeki doesn’t deny it, just simply acknowledges “You can tell?”

Poor Yashiro’s emotional rollercoaster. He tells Doumeki if he’s done then he can leave. But Doumeki isn’t done with him yet.

ROUND 2....FIGHT!!

Yashiro always did love Doumeki’s lap. DarkMeki’s lap is now a sexual position.

When it’s all over... Doumeki pauses... and looks...

and....

Ah... not yet... 

Doumeki announces that he’s leaving, and he lays down the law for Yashiro. 

No more talking to Inami. No more seeing Inami. No more running around having sex with Inami or any other strangers while they are working together.

If you have needs, I’ll take care of them for the time being. 

Yashiro laments that Doumeki didn’t even put his dick in, so how does he think he’s going to take care of his needs.

Yashiro sports his new beefed-up movie bod for the manga. Doumeki tells him this is the price you pay for meddling in another group’s private business. Deal with it, or leave.

Doumeki leaves and we get what I feel is the most important moment in the entire chapter: Yashiro’s NEW APARTMENT!! What is the rent on this place, cuz.... is that a fold-out futon sofa? Love that little loft-style bedroom. Baby loft! I own those cube bookcases! I feel so much closer to Yashiro knowing we have the same teeny tiny little home! Does he pay himself so little???? 

Yashiro has been served! And now the balls are in his court and he must now choose which move to make. Yashiro thinks over his predicament and we see his hand start to shake as he realizes how laughable and ironic his current situation is. 

That’s chapter 46 in a nutshell... 

These two dummies need to figure out the whole give-and-take of a relationship. Doumeki doesn’t take anything for himself here, which may be why Yashiro thinks there’s a woman. Doumeki is the pleasure KING! He’s sexy, he’s hot, he knows how to take off a glove for maximum eroticism. For this moment, Yashiro was kind of swept up in Typhoon DarkMeki, but I have a feeling Yashiro won’t be as easy next time. Perhaps he needs to get a few drinks into Kamiya and get the real story of Doumeki’s elusive “woman.” (Doumeki has referred to Chestnut as his “woman” when he was lying to Kamiya... I just snorted when I laughed out loud over this thought.)

Now for the bad news.... Chapter 47 will NOT be in the next issue that comes out 11/30. So we may be looking at January 30 (Yashiro’s birthday!!!) as our next crumb of relief. However for every CLOUD that GATHERS there is a STORM BREAKING!!! Rumors and speculations are flying that we are going to get the movie 2 announcement. I’m from a gambling town, so Luck be a dark, sexy lover tonight!!!
